Chapter 97: The Cannon Fodder in a Dogblood Novel (97)
Shen Tangqing woke up in Li Qiulan’s arms. The moment his consciousness returned, his mind went blank for a brief second. When he finally reacted and tried to struggle, he found that his body had no strength at all.
“Brother is awake?” Li Qiulan’s eyes were lowered, his eyelashes casting a small shadow under his eyes. He looked at Shen Tangqing with a very sweet smile, a sense of satisfaction revealed between his brows.
Shen Tangqing hated him so much that his eyes turned red. He didn’t speak; he just sharply turned his head and bit down fiercely on Li Qiulan’s exposed collarbone.
Li Qiulan was stunned for a moment. Feeling the pain radiating from his collarbone, his eyes filled with indulgence and doting. This was a reward Brother gave him. He hoped Brother would bite a little harder. Puncture the skin and flesh. He would repeatedly let this wound tear open again and again. Until eventually, it left a mark belonging only to Brother on him.
Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but curl his lips. He simply relaxed his body, leaning back against the car seat, allowing the person in his arms to bite him. His distinctively jointed hand gently lifted. He patted Shen Tangqing’s back intermittently. The movement was so gentle, it looked as if he was soothing a lover throwing a tantrum. But in those deep, dark eyes, there was an almost pathological enjoyment.
It wasn’t until the person in his arms lost strength and loosened his grip that he finally spoke slowly, a hint of delight in his voice. “Has Brother’s anger subsided a bit?”
Shen Tangqing glared at him resentfully, his lips still stained with a glaring smear of blood, like a red plum blossom splattered on snow. Bizarre, yet beautiful. “Li Qiulan, where are you taking me?”
Li Qiulan raised his hand, his thumb gently wiping away the bloodstain at the corner of Shen Tangqing’s lips. His expression was gentle. “Taking you home.”
“Li Qiulan, do you want to lock me up again?”
Li Qiulan’s hand paused for a moment. Only after a while did he slowly speak, “Brother, I just want to be with you.”
“Your so-called being together is forcing me? Controlling me with drugs? Li Qiulan, you really disgust me.”
Li Qiulan’s expression froze for a moment. He looked at Shen Tangqing. The disgust and hatred in those eyes were like a knife violently plunged into his heart, hurting so much his breathing hitched. For a brief moment, he even doubted whether he had done something wrong.
But the very next second, he snuffed out that thought. He wasn’t wrong. If you like something, you should hold it firmly in your hands. You should possess it, demand it, and get it at all costs.
His Adam’s apple rolled, and he slowly closed his eyes. He didn’t speak to Shen Tangqing anymore. He didn’t want to speak to Shen Tangqing, either. Shen Tangqing only thought about escaping from him. Unless he died, he would absolutely never let go.
———
Seeing his silence, the anger in Shen Tangqing’s eyes grew heavier. He struggled to get out of Li Qiulan’s embrace, but his body still lacked strength. His chest heaved violently with rage.
“Brother, be good.” Li Qiulan tightened his arms around him. His voice came from above, carrying a trace of imperceptible exhaustion.
Shen Tangqing looked up and glared at him. He still kept his eyes closed, his lips pressed into a straight line, exuding a coldness that screamed ‘keep away’.
“Li Qiulan, let go of me, damn it…”
“I won’t.” Li Qiulan finally opened his eyes. His expression held neither joy nor sorrow, calm to the point of being eerie. “Brother, you don’t want to see me go crazy, do you? So, for the rest of the journey, be a little good, alright?”
The faintly threatening words came out of his mouth very calmly. His voice was very soft. But falling into Shen Tangqing’s ears, it made his body freeze in place. Looking at the bottomless darkness in Li Qiulan’s eyes, he only felt a chill sweep over his entire body.
A moment later, Shen Tangqing spat out through gritted teeth, “Madman…”
“Yes, I am a madman.” A mocking smile curved Li Qiulan’s lips, his eyes completely freezing.
Mo Zeyan was right about one thing. He was just a mad dog. But only he himself knew that the leash capable of holding him had always been firmly in Shen Tangqing’s hands.
———
Shen Tangqing didn’t know what kind of medicine Li Qiulan had fed him. For the two days in the car, he remained in a groggy and completely powerless state.
On the night of the third day, they finally arrived in Beijing. The car eventually stopped in front of a villa located halfway up a mountain.
Li Qiulan didn’t get out of the car immediately; instead, he looked down at Shen Tangqing in his arms. The streetlights outside the villa filtered through the car window, casting mottled light and shadows on his face. In the flickering light, he actually revealed a trace of fragility.
After a moment of silence, Li Qiulan slowly spoke. “Brother, we’re home.”
Shen Tangqing didn’t respond. He merely turned his head, his gaze looking through the window at the surroundings outside. It was very secluded here, surrounded by dense forests, giving off a feeling of being isolated from the world.
Shen Tangqing ignored him, and he didn’t get angry. The driver had already taken the wheelchair out of the trunk and placed it by the car door. After Li Qiulan put a coat on Shen Tangqing, he carried him out of the car.
The interior of the villa featured European-style decor, utilizing a gray color palette. The spacious hall lacked any trace of human presence. Only the crystal chandelier cast a cold light, making the entire space feel oppressive and gloomy.
Li Qiulan brought Shen Tangqing to a room and carefully placed him on the bed. The decoration and layout of the room were exactly the same as the room he had stayed in at the manor.
Shen Tangqing’s face completely darkened. To him, it was like returning to a nightmare-like place.
Li Qiulan poured Shen Tangqing a glass of warm water and brought it to his lips. “Drink some water.”
Shen Tangqing didn’t open his mouth; he just stared at him. Li Qiulan’s eyes were bloodshot, and a faint stubble had appeared on his chin. He looked rather exhausted.
Shen Tangqing suddenly realized that this unacceptable relationship must be very painful for Li Qiulan as well…
“Li Qiulan, let me go, and let yourself go, okay?” Shen Tangqing’s voice carried a trace of pleading. The hatred in his eyes gradually faded, leaving only a numb exhaustion.
Li Qiulan’s hand trembled violently. The veins on the hand holding the water glass bulged, as if he was desperately trying to restrain something. He stared dead at Shen Tangqing. “Let you go?” He closed his eyes. “I can’t do that.”
After saying that, he placed the glass of water on the nightstand beside them. He stood up from the wheelchair.
In the next second, right in front of Shen Tangqing, he bent his knees and slowly knelt by the side of the bed. He grabbed Shen Tangqing’s hand, pressing the slightly cool palm against his own cheek and gently rubbed against it. The gesture was humble and devout. “Brother, without you, I can’t live… I really can’t live…”
Unfortunately, Shen Tangqing wouldn’t pity him just because he showed weakness. He was the victim here. What right did the perpetrator have to put on such a pathetic act? He didn’t deserve it!
With a cold face, he unhesitatingly pulled his hand out of Li Qiulan’s grasp. “If you can’t live, then go die, okay?”
Shen Tangqing’s gaze fell on Li Qiulan’s pale face. The words leaving his mouth were more vicious than he had ever been. He had even forgotten that when he first met Li Qiulan, he had genuinely liked this “younger brother.” The pitiful facade Li Qiulan had put on had easily captured “his heart,” making him feel compassion, making his heart ache for him, and even giving him a false sense of heroism.
When that trust collapsed and he was—
Shen Tangqing felt nothing but hatred. He hated Li Qiulan’s forcefulness in the name of love. He hated his deception. What’s more, from the very beginning, it was impossible for him to accept a man’s romantic feelings.
Shen Tangqing felt as if he were currently a balloon on the verge of popping. He had no idea when he would just explode.
