Chapter 11: Exploding Gold Coins
Qin Cheng was dumbfounded. What kind of car was this to be so expensive?
The salesperson, seeing him standing there without moving, repeated, “Sir, the payment is this way.”
Qin Cheng wasn’t calm anymore. He didn’t have that much money. The five million from the lottery had a portion taken for taxes, and besides that, he only had a few hundred thousand in pocket money. Even if he added everything together, it wasn’t even half the price of this car.
What was he going to use to pay?
Qin Cheng stood there for a long time before awkwardly speaking, “Is there no discount for this car?”
The salesperson gave a professional smile. “There is.”
Generally, people who buy cars at this price are either rich or noble. Most are satisfied with the car and don’t pay much attention to the price; not many bargain.
But that didn’t mean there truly weren’t any discounts.
Hearing there was a discount, Qin Cheng immediately spoke up, “Can’t we make it a round number?”
Salesperson: “A round number? Do you mean 14 million?”
Qin Cheng: “…I mean 13 million.”
He had wiped off a full 800,000. The salesperson had a helpless look on her face.
“Sir, youāre asking for too much of a discount. We cannot meet your request.”
Qin Chengās earlier posturing couldn’t be maintained anymore. He gripped his phone. “Iām a bit busy. I need to take a call first.”
Having said that, he turned and went to a corner to seek help.
Ye Ran curled his lips; he knew he didn’t have the money.
He turned back to stare at the car. This car was indeed not bad, but the price was also truly high. He couldn’t afford it either.
Qin Cheng dialed his dadās number. After the call connected, a flurry of chaotic noise came through.
“If you have something to say, say it quickly. Your old man is busy.”
Qin Jian wasn’t lying. His supermarket had recently been caught in a storm of public opinion. It was found that their self-made cooked food had food safety issues, and the evidence was solid. Qin Jian had to deal with media interviews and other inspections, and was busy to the point of exhaustion.
Qin Cheng spoke with difficulty, “Dad, can you send me some money? Iāve taken a liking to a car and want to buy it.”
Qin Jian was direct, “How many tens of thousands?”
Qin Cheng stuttered, “I still need about 9 million.”
An explosive sound came from the other end, “How much did you say?!”
Qin Cheng swallowed hard, “9 million.”
Qin Jian was laughed into anger by his spendthrift son. “Why don’t you sell your old man instead and see if Iām worth 9 million?”
After a dial tone, Qin Cheng gripped his phone tightly. His attempt to find help had failed.
He returned to the front hall. “I asked a professional, and they said the price-performance ratio of this car isn’t high. Itās not recommended to buy.”
Although he hadn’t succeeded this time, Qin Cheng still wanted to get back up from where he fell. In any case, he was better than the “penniless” Ye Ran who had to work.
“Ye Ran, do you have any cars around five million here? Introduce them to me.”
Ye Ran shrugged and looked at the salesperson, “Let this young lady explain it to you.”
Qin Chengās expression changed, and the lackey chimed in, “What, you look down on someone who doesn’t buy a ten-million-dollar car but a five-million-dollar one? Who allowed you to treat a distinguished customer like this? Call your manager.”
The salesperson explained, “Sorry, sir. This gentleman is not an employee of our shop. Like you, he is a customer.”
Others: “…”
Gradually, people began to whisper in the back:
“Ah, so he isn’t working here.”
“Heās also here to buy a car? I see the cars here are all quite expensive. If even Cheng-ge can’t afford it, can Ye Ran?”
“…”
The lackey asked doubtfully, “You aren’t an employee here?”
Ye Ran thought it was funny. “When did I ever tell you I worked here?”
Ye Ran indeed hadn’t said it; it was all Qin Cheng and the others’ assumption.
Qin Cheng straightened his mouth. “So youāre also here to buy a car. It seems I was mistaken. Which car did you take a liking to? You wouldn’t be interested in this 13-million-dollar car, would you?”
Ye Ran laughed, the coldness in his eyes showing. “None of your business.”
Qin Cheng wasn’t annoyed either and kept leaning in. “This car is too expensive, so forget it. You aren’t in the Chi family anymore, so don’t force yourself and make things hard.”
Before Ye Ran could say anything, a familiar figure walked into the 4S shop.
“My little young master, I said you went out to play so fast that you even forgot to take your card. The Eldest Young Master told me to hurry and bring it to you.”
Xin Yu spoke while taking out the black card Chi Yuheng had given him and respectfully handed it to Ye Ran.
Others might not recognize Xin Yu, but Qin Cheng had attended business dinners in Jing City and seen him. He was Chi Yuhengās assistant.
Chi Yuhengās assistant actually coming to deliver a card to Ye Ran meant…
Ye Ran hadn’t been kicked out of the Chi family at all!
Ye Ran also hadn’t expected Chi Yuheng to have Xin Yu deliver a card to him; it was like timely rain.
However, “exploding gold coins” so openly and suddenly like this… he was almost afraid to spend it.
The people who came with Qin Cheng hadn’t expected things to turn around like this. The “Cheng-ge” they had been following now looked like a clown.
Qin Cheng couldn’t hold back anymore. “Ye Ran, CEO Chi is so good to you. I bet thereās at least a few hundred thousand in this card.”
Even if Ye Ran had Chi Yuheng, so what? A fallen young master fostered in the Chi familyāhow much could Chi Yuheng value him? Giving him a few hundred thousand would be considered good, not much better than himself.
Ye Ran smiled. “This limited edition car behind me.”
Saying that, he placed the card in the salespersonās hand. “Max it out.”
Xin Yu added from the side, “Max out what? This card has no limit; it can’t be maxed out.”
Everyone understood. What Xin Yu meant was that Ye Ran could buy whatever he wanted, and there was no limit to the amount of money.
For a moment, sounds of surprise and discussion were constant.
Most of them had changed from their initial “watching a joke” mindset to one of extreme envy.
The lackey couldn’t pretend anymore and ran to Qin Chengās side to whisper, “Cheng… Cheng-ge… we should stop competing with him. Your five million from the lottery still needs taxes paid, but this guyās card can be swiped at will; he doesn’t even have to pay taxes himself.”
Although Qin Cheng didn’t want to hear it, what he said was indeed the truth.
Qin Chengās shoulders slumped completely. He still couldn’t compare to Ye Ran. Why on earth? Where was he lacking?!
Ye Ran had acquired a new car and couldn’t wait to drive it out.
He tilted his chin up, pointing to the passenger seat, and gave a cool smile to Xin Yu standing by the road. “Get in. Iāll take you out for a lap.”
Xin Yu shook the car keys in his hand. “I drove here, so I won’t be going out for a lap with you.”
Thinking of how Chi Yuheng looked when he was worried about Ye Ran, he couldn’t help but say a few more words, “Little young master, please be a bit more considerate. Don’t intentionally ditch Lao Wang in the future, okay? The Eldest Young Master will worry again.”
Having stayed in the Chi family for so long, Xin Yu understood Ye Ranās personality. If he hadn’t intentionally ditched the driver, Lao Wang, in the mall, it would have been impossible for Lao Wang to lose him.
Ye Ran tapped his fingers nonchalantly on the steering wheel, and the smile on his face faded by half. “I know, I know.”
He dragged out his tone, intentionally avoiding Xin Yuās gaze to look elsewhere. “Lao Wangās speed is like a snailās. He couldn’t keep up; is that my fault?”
As expected, assistants who spend a lot of time with their bosses share the same personalityāboth are full of “daddy vibes.”
Xin Yu checked the time. He estimated that the gathering on Chi Yuhengās side would be over in less than an hour, and Ye Ran happened to want to go out for a lap.
“The Eldest Young Master arranged for me to go to the company; it won’t be over for a while. Heās currently at the Boyi Clubhouse, so Iām afraid I won’t be able to go pick him up…”
Ye Ran raised an eyebrow. Was he being given a chore?
Chi Yuheng had “exploded gold coins” for him, and so many at that. As long as he didn’t have to sleep with him, let alone being a driver, heād even wear a maid outfit and be a nanny.
Of course, he guessed Chi Yuheng definitely wouldn’t make him wear a maid outfit and be a nanny.
“Fine, fine, fine. You go be busy. Iāll go pick him up.”
Ye Ran started the car, the engine revving as he stepped on the pedal. “But before going to pick him up, I have something else to do.”
Translator’s Note: And that’s how you shut down a bully! “Exploding gold coins” (ēéå¹£) really is the best feeling. Ye Ran is basically a pampered cat now. Also, did he just say he’d wear a maid outfit? Be careful what you wish for, Ye Ran! Chi Yuheng might be listening…
