Chapter 54. The Kitty Squad
The faces of those three Sentinels turned alternatingly pale and red. The only way Sentinels could earn points was by going on missions. During this period, their captain had been placed in confinement. They wanted to go on missions independently but were rejected by the White Tower on the grounds of insufficient combat strength. Su Tang’s words practically stabbed right into their hearts.
Su Tang unobtrusively covered her fingers over her wristband. To protect the safety of Guides, the White Tower had installed automatic alarm and protection mechanisms on every Guide’s wristband. Su Tang thought, if those few Sentinels dared to make a move, she would definitely take them all to the White Tower’s military court.
“You’re simply courting death!”
The crocodile, which was originally just flicking its tail on the floor, instantly expanded its body to twice its size. Opening its bloody maw, rows of sharp teeth were displayed in front of her. The entire spiritual entity lunged toward Su Tang’s direction.
Su Tang took a step back, finding the emergency button on her wristband. Just as she was about to press it, a white shadow flew over from not far away.
“Bang!”
A white cat fiercely pounced on top of the crocodile’s head, extending its sharp claws and slashing left and right at that crocodile’s head. That arrogant posture completely ignored the ferocious creature that was many times larger than its own size.
Immediately after, an orange cat came out of nowhere, followed by a Maine Coon. They jumped onto the shelves on the left and right, baring their teeth at the Second Squad Sentinels standing there, emitting threatening low growls from their throats.
“Hiss—, where did this stupid cat come from? You idiot, hurry up and shake it off!”
The Sentinel in the very middle clutched his own head. Spiritual entities were connected to their masters; the damage the spiritual entity received would be truthfully transmitted to the master. By the looks of it, he was also receiving the kitty’s loving caresses.
Su Tang retracted the finger placed on the button, sweeping her gaze over these three spiritual entities. Felines… could they be from the Fifth Squad?
“Who the fuck made a move? If you have the guts to make a move, then have the guts to come out! What kind of skill is playing dirty tricks behind people’s backs?”
“Releasing spiritual entities to threaten a Guide, you’re really quite promising.”
A silver-haired Sentinel with a lollipop in his mouth walked over from the shelves. He kicked a nearby cargo box, and the box flew straight toward the direction of those three Sentinels, hitting the leg of the Sentinel in the very middle head-on. Intense pain transmitted from his leg; if it weren’t for the two people beside him supporting him, he probably would have kneeled down by now.
And then, a little girl with twin tails and chubby cheeks walked out from the shelves.
Following beside her was a short-black-haired Sentinel wearing silver stud earrings.
“Wow, Guide Su, hello there. I wanted to say hi to you yesterday at the airport. First time meeting, let me introduce myself. My name is A’ning.”
The twin-tailed Sentinel hugged that orange cat from the side and walked cheerfully to Su Tang’s front with light footsteps.
“Hello, I am Su Tang.”
“Fifth Squad? This matter has nothing to do with you guys, I advise you to mind your own business.”
“Making a move to hit a Guide, and you say it has nothing to do with us?”
The twin-tailed Sentinel raised an eyebrow.
“The White Tower’s rules, are you planning to treat them like farts and let them go?”
The silver-haired Sentinel waved his wristband at those three.
“I’m really sorry, we’ve been here for quite a while. I accidentally recorded everything that just happened here. Hey, don’t try to grab it now! This is a newly exchanged wristband, a new release on the market. If you break it, you’ll have to compensate me with a new one.”
Seeing those three idiots wanting to make a move to grab his wristband, the silver-haired Sentinel disdainfully let out a scoff.
If one were to ask which squad in the entire White Tower was the richest, aside from Anse’s Medical Department, it would be their Fifth Squad. Who told their Fifth Squad to execute the most dangerous and numerous missions?
These few idiots who only deserved to mix around in the Tower waiting for death, he figured they didn’t have the guts and financial resources to dare steal his things.
Sure enough, as soon as this sentence was spoken, those three Sentinels stopped staring at his wristband.
“What exactly do you want to do?”
“Nothing much. I heard your captain invited our captain over for a chat to catch up yesterday. We were still worried our captain wouldn’t have any conversation topics. Isn’t this perfect, you guys delivered yourselves right to our door?”
Yesterday, after their captain returned from Captain Shen Ji, he had looked sullen all along, locking himself in his office for half the day without coming out. Felines couldn’t be caged by nature; it must have been that guy Shen Ji who played some trick.
They already had pent-up anger in their hearts and found the Second Squad displeasing to the eye. Today, these three idiots actually delivered themselves to the door.
“I say Xiao Bai, why are you talking so much to them? Does this kind of matter even need to trouble the captain? Just directly submit it to the Supervisory Office and it’ll be done.”
The twin-tailed Sentinel crossed her arms. Finding the crouching crocodile beside them an eyesore, she kicked it.
The expressions of the Second Squad’s Sentinels completely changed. The Supervisory Team valued discipline the most. Assaulting a Guide was a serious crime; on the light side, it meant solitary confinement, and on the heavy side, it meant having their White Tower Sentinel qualifications revoked and being directly thrown into the Contaminated Zone to fend for themselves.
“We… we were just joking with her.”
The Sentinel on the left feigned calmness, having already birthed the thought of retreating. He originally just wanted to find a Guide to vent the anger from being cooped up in the Tower these past few days, but unexpectedly, he ran into this group of tough nuts from the Fifth Squad.
“Joke?” The Sentinel wearing the stud earrings finally spoke, his voice deep. “The Second Squad’s joke is quite unique.”
“Mmh, what a coincidence. We also like jokes. How about we play a joke on you too?”
After he finished speaking, he raised his hand. The Maine Coon, which was originally sitting quietly on the shelf, instantly jumped up, slashing left and right at the three Sentinels in the middle, baring its sharp claws. A swipe to the left, a pounce to the right—that posture carried quite a bit of majestic tiger-like flavor.
Such a cute little kitty actually suppressed those three tall and sturdy Sentinels so much that they couldn’t muster up any resistant movements. Su Tang clicked her tongue in wonder.
Seeing those three Sentinels bearing scratches on their faces and bodies, the silver-haired Sentinel waved his hand.
“Alright A’yin, if you continue, it will escalate to the level of a brawl.”
They had deeply studied the White Tower’s injury assessments. The current degree was just right. If they continued fighting, it would inevitably be judged as a brawl by the White Tower. It wasn’t worth throwing away points for these few scumbags.
“Scram.”
The Sentinel wearing stud earrings spat out a single word, waving his hand to let his Maine Coon jump back onto the shelf.
The Second Squad Sentinels fled as if granted a general amnesty, scrambling away. Before running, they didn’t forget to leave some harsh words.
“Our captain won’t let you off! You, you just wait for me!”
“Can’t win a fight and only knows how to go home to find their captain to back them up. Are they unweaned little cubs?”
The twin-tailed little loli’s cheeks were round. Su Tang was amused by her words.
“Thank you guys.”
She turned to look at the three people from the Fifth Squad, expressing her thanks with a sincere tone.
“No need to thank us. Even if the three of us didn’t step in, didn’t you also have a means of self-protection?”
The twin-tailed Sentinel looked at the wristband on Su Tang’s wrist.
“We purely found those three SBs an eyesore and wanted to vent some anger, that’s all. Right, Guide Su, you were alright just now, right?”
“I’m fine. You guys appeared very timely. No matter what, I still have to thank you.”
The silver-haired Sentinel licked the lollipop in his mouth, raising an eyebrow to scrutinize her.
“Not bad, little Guide. Your mouth is quite sharp. I thought everyone in your First Squad was like Captain Mo Xiao, being a block of wood.”
