Chapter 60: Liang Little Bo Takes Advantage
By the time Liang Bo and Shou Jiaxun had respectively packed their luggage and embarked on their journey again, it was already around two o’clock in the afternoon.
According to the time, they should have eaten a meal before getting in the car. But due to their hangovers resulting in poor appetites, Liang Bo suggested, “How about we eat when we get to HK? There’s a lot of good food over there too.”
Yangcheng and HK were neighboring ports. It was an hour by high-speed rail, an hour and a half by carâjust a normal commuting distance for a major city. The two of them could let their stomachs settle on the train, and they could eat right as they arrived.
But after they boarded the train, the two half-grown children in the seats across from them immediately had their parents buy train boxed lunches to eat, and they ate with their cheeks bulging, savoring every bite.
The boxed lunch contained nothing more than the most ordinary home-style stir-friesâthree or four kinds plastic-sealed with some rice. Microwaved for a minute and served lukewarm, its appearance was very average.
Shou Jiaxun originally had no appetite, but faced with two kids wolfing down their food, his stomach started to rumble as he watched.
Since boarding, Liang Bo had been using his phone to browse the HK food rankings. By the time he turned sideways to recommend a beef offal hotpot to his boss, his boss had already “changed his heart.”
Shou Jiaxun turned his head, covered his lips, and quietly strategized with him. “How about we buy two boxed lunches to line our stomachs first?”
Liang Bo looked up, stealing a glance at the two kids across from them. “…I want to eat beef offal.”
But Shou Jiaxun had already made up his mind. “Okay, then I’ll order a box to eat first.”
Then Liang Bo watched helplessly as he pressed the service bell, called the attendant, and ordered a large boxed lunch with shredded potatoes and Mapo tofu as the main dishes.
Liang Bo was curious. “Can you finish a large portion? Is there a share for me in there?”
Shou Jiaxun found it both funny and ridiculous. “Small portions are for kids to eat. I’m an adult, why wouldn’t I be able to finish it? Do you have a misunderstanding about my appetite?”
Liang Bo’s expression showed slight embarrassment. “I saw you only eating salad abroad.”
“I just don’t like eating pan-fried chunks of meat…” He then showed the boxed lunch to Liang Bo. “Besides, do you see any meat in here?”
It couldn’t be said there was absolutely none; the content was just so low it could be counted on one’s fingers, and one hand was enough.
Liang Bo silently picked up his phone and continued looking at his beef offal hotpot restaurant recommendations.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t hold out for very long either. When Shou Jiaxun was halfway through his meal, Liang Bo also pressed the bell and ordered a boxed lunch for himself. Just as he finished eating, the train conveniently pulled into the West Kowloon Railway Station.
Presumably, the “beef offal hotpot” was also very surprised that one day its business would be snatched by a “boxed lunch.” The key was that although the boxed lunch was mediocre in both appearance and taste, its price wasn’t any cheaper.
After Shou Jiaxun and Liang Bo dropped off their luggage at the hotel, they used their phones to book Ocean Park tickets and then took a taxi to the park. Catching the evening session perfectly, they could play in the park until around nine o’clock.
During his years studying abroad, Liang Bo traveled everywhere whenever he had a holiday. He was very experienced in how to quickly and efficiently play through an international mega-park.
For example, during the day, you absolutely must buy an express pass. At night, you just need to download the park’s official APP and choose which attractions to queue for with skill, and so on.
Shou Jiaxun was very much a novice in this aspect. In both lifetimes combined, he had never visited a proper large park.
The reason was also very simple: “My dad (mom) was busy with work.”
So after entering the park, his entire face expressed: “I am very happy, but I am very confused. Do we turn left or right?”
Liang Bo asked, “Do you want to watch the shows first or go on the rides first?”
Shou Jiaxun asked back, “What rides?”
Liang Bo raised his eyebrows. “Anyway… they aren’t bidding projects. Forget it, just follow me. Whatever I play, you play. Be careful not to get lost.”
“Okay, okay.” President Shou nodded with a smile, secretly sighing with emotion in his heart: A good assistant is suitable for all occasions, haha!
Liang Bo added, “There are a lot of people here, make sure you don’t run around.” Then, naturally, he took one of his hands.
Because Shou Jiaxun liked teasing others, his own reaction to “father-son trope” jokes was also fast. He immediately pulled his hand back and scolded with a smile, “You even dare to take advantage of your boss, don’t want to work anymore, huh?”
Liang Bo instantly put on a mask of “panic” and shook his head. “Didn’t take advantage of you.”
Then, without waiting for Shou Jiaxun to show “smugness,” he unexpectedly lowered his head and kissed the other’s cheek.
Now it was the panicked little assistant’s turn to show “smugness.” “Hehe, now I took advantage.”
President Shou instantly turned cold, scolding him sternly, “Liang Bo, I’m warning you one more time. Don’t jump back and forth testing my bottom line. It’s impossible for me to accept courtship from any male, regardless of what his secondary gender is. So you are no exception.
If this kind of thing happens one more time, no matter how much I appreciate your work performance, our cooperation is over.”
Saying this, he pulled a pack of tissues from his pocket, pulled one out, and vigorously wiped his cheek.
This was the first time since starting work that Assistant Liang had been sternly and directly reprimanded by his boss. The main point was that they had been getting along very well just a second ago, even with a hint of sweetness.
Liang Bo stood rooted to the spot, at a loss, as if he had been struck by lightning.
Moreover, this time Shou Jiaxun showed no intention of taking the initiative to coax him into making peace.
The two stood in a stalemate for a long while. The more Liang Bo thought about it, the more he felt Shou Jiaxun’s sexual orientation was a mystery.
He previously thought Shou Jiaxun liked Omegas, making him double-O. Later he found out that was incorrect. Moreover, Shou Jiaxun also said he was very “straight.” So that must mean Guoran was right: Shou Jiaxun liked Alphas, but had a psychological shadow regarding them.
But now Shou Jiaxun said he wouldn’t accept any male, which meant… he liked females.
But the number of females was inherently small, a twenty-eighty ratio compared to males, and their sexual interests were the same as Omegas.
With how easy it was for them to find a high-quality Alpha to marry, why would they engage in a “fourth love” with an Omega like you?
Liang Bo couldn’t figure it out, nor was he willing to continue guessing blindly. He furrowed his brows and asked in a low voice, “Can you tell me the real reason? What exactly made you decide to grow old alone? Giving up the idea of building your own family so early.”
He deliberately pointed out words like “alone” and “family,” naturally because he had seen early on that Shou Jiaxun harbored a desire for family and relatives.
Shou Jiaxun naturally understood as well. In this world, he either had to accept a man or remain unmarried for life. The problem wasâ”I don’t want to be a ‘woman,’ I can’t accept it.”
Liang Bo felt like he had been struck by lightning a second time.
He thought to himself: Could it be that his isn’t a ‘sexual orientation’ issue, but a ‘mental’ issue?
His eyes filled with doubt and uncertainty as he looked Shou Jiaxun up and down. “Friend… you… what exactly is the situation with… your recognition of your own primary gender?”
Shou Jiaxun sneered. “Of course I am a man. I was in the past, and I will be in the future.”
So no one should even think about bending him.
Liang Bo let out a soft breath, thinking to himself that it was a good thing it wasn’t gender dysphoria.
Then he grabbed his arm, ducked into a cold drink shop by the path inside the park, randomly found an empty table, and sat Shou Jiaxun down. He lowered his voice, his expression grave. “Shou Jiaxun, tell me, has anyone ever threatened or forced you to get sex reassignment surgery in the past?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Shou Jiaxun also began to feel Liang Bo’s brain wasn’t quite normal.
“Then why do you think that dating a man will turn you into a woman?” Liang Bo asked stubbornly, guiding Shou Jiaxun to turn his head and look out the window. “Look at those couples of A and O, are they men or women?”
President Shou’s smile was disdainful, but his tone was certain. “Right now, of course, they are all men. Once they get into bed, that all changes.”
Liang Bo sucked in a breath of the AC-cooled air. “How about… I help you make an appointment with a psychiatrist.”
“Thanks, I’m not sick.” Shou Jiaxun sneered again. “The last person who said I was sick was Xiao Yu. You were just exchanging messages with him the day before yesterday. Don’t you think he’s the one whose brain isn’t normal?”
…With such a massive romantic brain, it definitely wasn’t normal.
Liang Bo hesitated, trying hard to “change his face,” smiling awkwardly in agreement. “That’s true too, understood… it’s my problem. Sigh, let’s not talk about this. I’ll be careful from now on. Shall we continue touring the park?”
“Mm.” Shou Jiaxun’s interest plummeted, displaying an attitude of not wanting to engage.
Later, while queuing for rides in the park, the two of them fiddled with their respective phones, the frequency of their conversations dropping sharply.
Liang Bo sent a message to his Omega father: Dad, Shou Jiaxun might be sick.
It took half a day for his dad to reply with a red-faced terrified emoji. The top executive of a major tech company recently loved using these kinds of dramatic meme stickers to interact with his son.
âIs it a terminal illness? Can he still be saved? Are you still going to pursue him?
Shou Jiaxun sent a Feixin to Guoran: Uncle, tomorrow have the HR department list an assistant position for me.
Uncle Guo replied in seconds with a “terrified” emoji: What happened to Liang Bo?
Nothing. Just want to interview a few to see. If there are suitable ones, we can first recruit them into the admin department or as department assistants to reserve talent. Omegas only.
Uncle Guo faintly guessed the situation. After a long while, he replied with a single line: Okay, got it.
After hearing his son summarize his sweetheart’s “illness,” CEO Ye rushed to contact a psychological counselor, setting up a small Feixin group so Liang Bo could seek help online.
Like an internet-addicted teenager, Liang Bo buried his head in his phone playing as soon as they queued up. When Shou Jiaxun turned his head to glance at him, he immediately switched the chat interface back to a game.
When Shou Jiaxun ignored him, he continued describing to the psychiatrist the problems arising in Shou Jiaxun’s gender recognition.
Before they boarded the “rollercoaster,” Liang Bo’s “Online Mental Health” finally provided a summary of the first round of consultation: Based on your description, I believe your friend is not sick, but rather a phenomenon has appeared in himâmental ‘atavism’.
Liang Bo was shocked: Atavism? Will he turn into a monkey?
President Ye expressed equal shock: Ah! Has he started growing fur already?
Liang Bo complained: Dad, stop messing around.
His dad grumbled: You’re the one who started talking nonsense. Can’t you see for yourself if he’s turned into a monkey or not?
Liang Bo looked up toward the front of the line and patted Shou Jiaxun’s shoulder. “President Shou, I’m scared, my heart is beating so fast… You go on this ride yourself, I’ll go wait for you at the exit.”
Shou Jiaxun couldn’t believe it. “You’re even scared of a small ‘rollercoaster’?”
“A small ‘rollercoaster’ is still a ‘rollercoaster’…” Liang Bo argued with a bitter face. “Really, I’ve been afraid of heights since I was a kid.”
Shou Jiaxun raised his eyebrows and aimed a glance at the top of his head. “Then that’s really tough on you…” Afraid of heights and yet grew so tall.
After teasing him, he couldn’t help but emphasize again, “It seems any child over 1.2 meters tall can ride this, are you really not considering challenging it?”
Liang Bo shook his head firmly. “No, no, I might have exceeded the height limit. I’ll just go wait for you at the exit.”
Saying this, he hurriedly squeezed toward the emergency exit.
He was primarily anxious to see what exactly the psychiatrist on the online consultation had to say.
