Chapter 153
Shen Shuyu returned to the classroom and immediately picked up his terminal to call Yue Cheng, specifically instructing Wen Jiafei to keep a lookout. Wen Jiafei couldn’t help but ask, “Are you acting like a thief?”
Shen Shuyu gave him a strange look. “Your speech is getting more and more humorous lately.”
Wen Jiafei fell silent. The next second, he heard Shen Shuyu say, “Shouldn’t it be us two acting like thieves? Wen Jiafei, what’s wrong with you? Our friendship died at the step where you refused to be a thief.”
Wen Jiafei ignored him, lowering his head to read quietly. Shen Shuyu hmphed lightly, turned his face to the other side, and whispered into the phone, not noticing the corners of Wen Jiafei’s mouth secretly curling up in amusement.
Yue Cheng picked up the phone at the very last second. He sounded groggy. “What’s up, Xiao Yu?”
“Yue Cheng Ge, are you still resting?” Shen Shuyu asked.
Yue Cheng hummed. “Did a few surgeries yesterday, resting today. Do you need something?”
Shen Shuyu felt a bit embarrassed. He asked, “Then when do you go on duty?”
“Tomorrow’s night shift. Why?” Yue Cheng woke up a bit. “Are you feeling unwell?”
“No,” Shen Shuyu said. “I have a small favor to ask.”
Yue Cheng said, “Speak. Ge will help you.”
Shen Shuyu said, “Can I come to the hospital to find you tonight?”
Yue Cheng gave a confused hum. “I’m off today.”
He thought for a moment. “Are you sick?”
Recently, there had been a major shake-up within the Shen family. Shen Yisi had told him that if Shen Shuyu reached out, he should pay extra attention.
Shen Shuyu said, “It’s nothing major. Does your hospital do surgeries at night?”
Yue Cheng said, “There are emergency surgeries, but not many.”
Shen Shuyu said, “Okay, then I’ll tell you tonight.”
Yue Cheng agreed in a daze, and Shen Shuyu happily hung up.
Listening to the busy tone, Yue Cheng realized belatedly: Wait, aren’t I off today?
He yawned, thought about it, and decided to send a message to Shen Yisi. After sending it, he pulled the covers back over his head and went back to dreamland.
After school let out in the afternoon, the three of them went to retrieve the bug first. Shen Shuyu looked at Wen Jiafei. “Why don’t you go home and keep Auntie company?”
Wen Jiafei shook his head. “No need, she’s working until 8 PM.”
“Working?” Shen Shuyu was puzzled. “Is Auntie healthy enough to work?”
Wen Jiafei said, “She’s mostly recovered. She was bored at home, so she went to work.”
Thinking of something, he took out his terminal, found the message Wen Yue sent him in the morning, and showed it to Shen Shuyu.
[Xiao Fei, Mom is working at the cake shop downstairs. The manager is treating me to dinner tonight, so I might be home a bit late. Don’t worry.]
Shen Shuyu said “Oh.” “That’s good. Having something to do makes people more spirited.”
He glanced at the watch on his wrist. “Alright then, let’s go. Yue Cheng Ge should be looking for us.”
Lin Xuyi wasn’t at school today, but ten minutes ago he said he had already gone to the hospital. They were all meeting there.
The three got into the car Shen Shuyu had called. Not long after, Wen Jiafei said, “There’s a car following us.”
He looked through the side mirror. That black car seemed to have been following them since they left the school. Shen Shuyu and Shen Xili also turned their heads to look out the rear window. Sure enough, a black car was tailing them.
Shen Shuyu thought for a moment. “Driver, just stop around the corner ahead.”
The driver glanced at each of the three, then stopped where Shen Shuyu indicated. After paying, the three stood by the roadside and walked forward. Shen Shuyu said, “Since he wants to follow, let’s take public transport.”
Even if they walked, it wasn’t far. But they didn’t need to guess to know who was in the car behind them.
It was Zhong.
He had been following them since the school; he probably figured everything out. The urgent task was to get Shen Xili to the hospital to extract the bug. Once this matter was settled early, they would be better prepared to face whatever happened next.
Shen Xili said, “His target is me. The three of us walking together is too conspicuous. Let’s split up.”
Shen Shuyu thought about it. “You two go ahead. I’ll stall him.”
“No,” the other two said in unison.
Shen Xili and Wen Jiafei looked at each other. Wen Jiafei looked away coldly, but when he looked at Shen Shuyu, his gaze was much gentler. He said, “I’ll go stall him.”
“No.” This time it was Shen Shuyu who said no. He said, “Your injury from last night hasn’t healed properly. If a fight breaks out, my odds of winning are better.”
Wen Jiafei shook his head. “I won’t fight him. And even if we do fight, he might not necessarily beat me. Besides…”
He paused. “There are security personnel here.”
Shen Shuyu wanted to say more, but Wen Jiafei urged, “Once I shake him off, I’ll come find you at the hospital. Don’t waste time.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. “Then be careful.”
He looked at Shen Xili, who had been mostly silent aside. “Let’s go.”
A complex emotion flashed in Shen Xili’s eyes. He hummed, “Okay.”
Shen Shuyu walked two steps, still worried, and turned back. “Watch out for your safety.”
Wen Jiafei raised his hand and waved gently, making a goodbye gesture.
He watched the two leave. After waiting a while, calculating that it was about time for Zhong to arrive, he put on his hat and quietly blended into the crowd.
When Shen Shuyu and Shen Xili arrived at the hospital, Lin Xuyi had just gotten out of his car. Seeing the two, he greeted them enthusiastically, “What a coincidence! We met up!”
The two walked over. Shen Shuyu looked at him. “Why do I feel like you’ve lost some weight?”
Lin Xuyi clicked his tongue. “Sigh, it’s nothing. Writing a thesis recently, lots of pressure.”
Shen Shuyu nodded. Lin Xuyi asked, “By the way, what do you guys need me for? You didn’t make it clear on the phone.”
Shen Shuyu and Shen Xili looked at each other. “Let’s talk inside.”
The three entered the hospital. Shen Shuyu led them to Yue Cheng’s office with practiced ease. He knocked on the door, and after hearing “Come in,” pushed the door open. Yue Cheng was sitting in his chair looking at medical records on the computer. He pushed up the glasses on the bridge of his nose. “My place is really lively today.”
Shen Shuyu walked over. “Yue Cheng Ge, this is Shen Xili, you know him. This is Lin Xuyi, my teammate in the Survival Battle.”
Lin Xuyi was a natural extrovert. He said, “Good evening, Yue Cheng Ge.”
Yue Cheng nodded. He looked at Shen Xili, then at Shen Shuyu. He hadn’t expected these two young masters to have such a good relationship.
He really didn’t understand what Shen Yisi had been worrying about these past few days.
Yue Cheng stood up. “Sit down and talk. Want anything to drink? Have you eaten? How about Ge orders you some pizza?”
“No thanks, Ge. We might not be able to eat later,” Shen Shuyu sighed.
Yue Cheng got sparkling water for the three of them, sat with his legs crossed, and asked, “Speak. You wouldn’t visit the Temple of the Three Treasures without a cause. What do you need me for?”
Lin Xuyi also looked at Shen Shuyu. “Yeah, what exactly do you need me for?”
Shen Shuyu glanced at Shen Xili. Shen Xili immediately said, “I’d better say it myself.”
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he said, “I’d like to ask you two to help me extract something today.”
Lin Xuyi let out a “Huh?” “What thing? Why so serious?”
The heating in the hospital was strong, so the three had already taken off their coats upon entering. Shen Xili was only wearing a shirt. He unbuttoned it efficiently. Lin Xuyi immediately shouted, “Hey, hey, hey, there’s an Omega here.”
Shen Shuyu said indifferently, “It’s fine, I’ve already seen it.”
Lin Xuyi’s eyes went wide. Even Yue Cheng beside him couldn’t help asking, “What did you say?”
Shen Shuyu asked strangely, “It’s not like he’s naked. Why are you two so excited?”
Besides, although he was an Omega, he had a male body. The only difference between them was pheromones; he had everything they had.
Yue Cheng coughed lightly, leaning halfway against the sofa, his elbow resting on the armrest, fingers rubbing his chin. His gaze seemed to glance somewhere, looking like he wanted to speak but stopped.
However, the others didn’t notice his strangeness.
Shen Xili took off his shirt in a few moves and placed it aside. Yue Cheng glanced over and immediately noticed something wrong.
His expression turned serious as he asked, “Is there something inside your body?”
Lin Xuyi saw it too. He immediately frowned. “There’s something moving. Looks like… a bug?”
Shen Shuyu took a deep breath. He nodded and took the box containing the Mother Bug out of his bag. “It is a bug.”
Yue Cheng and Lin Xuyi both realized what was happening. Yue Cheng said sternly, “You didn’t find me to help you extract a bug, did you?”
Just as his voice fell, the sound of a door opening rang out in the room. Someone walked out of Yue Cheng’s rest room.
