Chapter 13: He Was, Indeed, Beautiful
Bai Xuci endured the discomfort, shifted back slightly, and explained:
“I was busy, it was my fault…”
Hearing this, the other party instantly became kind, a sweet smile appearing on their face, their tail wagging happily.
“I knew you’d be obedient.”
“…”
Bai Xuci was completely bewildered. What the heck?
Obedient?
Was that a good word to describe someone?
“Um, could you move a little further away?” Bai Xuci asked tentatively, raising his elbow slightly, furrowing his brow.
It must have been scraped.
What kind of demon was this?
He couldn’t help but want to complain inwardly.
Yu Yan circled the stone where Bai Xuci was with both arms, openly looking him over, her gaze straightforward.
“You’re beautiful.”
And probably delicious too…
“Um, really?” Bai Xuci gave an awkward laugh, feeling the goosebumps on his back persist.
Why wouldn’t this little goldfish directly respond to his request?
Didn’t she hear him?
Her tail showed no sign of retracting but instead circled the stone.
This time, she would definitely catch him.
“My name is Yu Yan,” she said formally, her eyes still fixed on Bai Xuci.
Without even blinking.
Bai Xuci was truly feeling suffocated. What was wrong with this fish? Why was she getting closer and closer?
How big was this stone anyway?
Enough was enough.
“Bang.”
He transformed into a nimble rabbit and leaped out from between Yu Yan’s arms.
He landed steadily by the stream, away from the small stone.
Then he diligently shook his fur.
Water droplets were flung to the ground, the white fur visibly becoming fluffier.
Phew… finally a little more comfortable.
He lifted his rabbit eyes to glance at the “mermaid” in the stream, then extended his rabbit leg slightly backward.
He pushed off with force.
Jumping to a further stone.
Mmm, distance creates beauty, good for both of us.
Just then, Bai Xuci suddenly heard laughter, a very disdainful kind.
He perked up his ears, increasing his alertness.
The surroundings were quiet, only the strange little fish in the stream.
Was it an illusion?
It sounded so much like the great demon.
“Why are you so far away?” A voice cold as ice, the kind smile instantly disappearing.
Bai Xuci was amazed and immediately retreated his rabbit legs.
Pat!
He jumped to the furthest stone.
Sure enough, an almost imperceptible chuckle came again…
Now Bai Xuci was certain that the demon was watching him secretly.
And laughing at him!
“Do you need something? I’ve come to keep our appointment,” he said politely.
He secretly raised his rabbit head to estimate the height; this was where he had been thrown down, and jumping up shouldn’t be a problem.
Mmm, his eyes slowly moved… finally stopping on the vines winding around a nearby tree trunk.
He’ll grab onto it to climb up later.
“Aren’t you my friend?” The sound of rushing water, Yu Yan swam closer.
Her face was expressionless, staring intently.
Bai Xuci felt a chill and was helpless towards this little goldfish. Why did he feel like he owed her something?
But he had come to keep their appointment.
What kind of manipulative tactic was this?
“Um, what’s wrong?” He flicked his ears, deciding to learn from the little fish’s excellent qualities.
He would only listen to what he liked, only ask what he wanted to know.
Everything else, he’d ignore.
Yay.
Yu Yan, hearing such “flippant” words, wasn’t very happy.
Instead, she became even more restless.
Why was he so far away? It was so inconvenient.
“What’s your name?” A flat tone, her eyes still unblinking.
The sunset was probably fading by now, the beams of light under the canopy slowly disappearing, the stream becoming somewhat chilly.
In the dim light, only those amber eyes could be seen.
Staring intently.
Bai Xuci thought for a while, feeling that since she’d told him her name, he should reciprocate.
“Bai Xuci, you can call me Xiaobai,” a clear voice.
…
Meanwhile—
Fan Yue looked down at the round rabbit head in the bushes, bobbing up and down, finding it a little amusing.
That name… it suited him quite well.
His ears were folded back, then seemed uncomfortable, and he shook them.
They seemed quite elastic.
“So, what’s the matter?” Three times in a row, he asked again.
Bai Xuci thought this little fish was the strangest demon he had ever met, inexplicably wanting to befriend him.
Then immediately wanting to meet.
After he arrived, she acted like this the whole time.
Staring intently, it felt like she was looking at food.
He involuntarily shivered, lifted his rabbit head to look at the entrance of the bushes, wanting to leave.
“Xiaobai… Xiaobai?” A murmur.
Yu Yan swam a few more steps forward, almost touching the edge of the stream, her face finally no longer expressionless.
Instead, excitement… intense excitement.
“Why are you so far away?” An injured expression.
“Don’t you remember me?” An anxious tone.
The splashing water became quite large, even splashing onto Bai Xuci.
“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, why didn’t you come?” She even became aggrieved.
Bai Xuci was utterly bewildered. Hadn’t they only met twice?
What remembering or not remembering?
His ears twitched, his rabbit legs cautiously retracted.
The stone was wet again; it would be slippery, he had to be careful.
“You’ve forgotten.” A firm tone.
Bai Xuci stared blankly, finding her eyes icy cold, as if she was extremely angry.
Before he could react, a more serious accusation came out.
“You don’t like me.” Still a statement.
Bai Xuci’s rabbit eyes widened slightly; you can’t say that!
I don’t think I’ve ever said I liked you.
This is so strange!
After hearing this sentence, Bai Xuci noticed something was wrong with the stream.
The water seemed to have stopped…
It felt like a storm was brewing.
Fine, fine, he had kept the appointment, what else did she want?
He’d better run.
Bai Xuci resigned himself to fate, lifting his rabbit head, confirming the location of the vines he had spotted earlier.
Then he jumped with force.
His paw reached forward, his body forming a perfect curve in mid-air.
As long as he could grab onto that foothold, he could escape the bushes.
But just then, his hind legs were suddenly grabbed, and it felt sticky.
Bai Xuci wanted to break free, but looked down—
It was the fishtail.
A fishy smell clung to his leg, the opening and closing scales almost in front of his face.
Red… constantly opening and closing… alive…
A surge of nausea rose in his throat, Bai Xuci’s reaction speed slowed.
The fishtail was strong; seeing that it had caught something, she became even more excited, pulling down hard.
Bai Xuci was about to fall again.
Fan Yue let out a slight tsk, not expecting this little demon to be so useless.
Hadn’t he given him magical power?
Why couldn’t he use it again…
He slightly raised his hand.
Pat.
The wet rabbit landed on the grass, and due to inertia, curled into a ball.
Looking very pathetic.
His golden pupils glanced at the stream—
Almost instantly, the stream returned to calm.
“Plop.”
An almost inaudible sound of water, the sound of escape.
Fan Yue seemed amused, his palm moving slightly, condensing a ball of light, letting it follow.
“Huff, huff…”
Bai Xuci lay on the grass, his rabbit legs weakly outstretched, the feeling of nausea still lingering.
What’s wrong with her!
Is this how you make friends? The first time, she dragged him underwater, and the second time she wanted to pull him down again.
Only a fool would befriend her!
“Mmm, little fool.” He called out smoothly.
Bai Xuci raised his rabbit head, his ears drooping behind him, looking incredulously at him.
The towering demon stared at him indifferently.
Then his rabbit leg extended forcefully, and he nimbly turned over.
He started diligently shaking himself.
“…”
Perhaps because he was shaking too hard, he almost flipped over, only Fan Yue timely extended his hand to support him.
Only then did he complete the self-drying process.
“Thank you, Lord!” He expressed his gratitude formally.
Fan Yue didn’t pay attention to this, his brows furrowed slightly, directly lifting the rabbit.
His palm supported the rabbit’s chest, thoughtfully separating a few fingers to reveal the rabbit’s head and two front legs.
Bai Xuci didn’t understand; his paw clutched the demon’s fingers.
His two ears obediently lay flat against his head.
A little nervous, with such a serious expression, was he about to say something important?
“Tsk…”
His two rabbit legs habitually folded together, his rabbit head turned to the side, pretending to be calm and composed.
“Why are you so dirty?”
The rabbit froze.
“You need to be washed.”
The whole rabbit froze.
Finally, Bai Xuci, under the strange gaze of the Jiaoma brothers, entered the “ripple gate.”
“Lord, I think I can walk by myself…” His two ears drooped, his rabbit legs swinging listlessly.
Why was he holding him like this?
Bai Xuci held the two fingers, feeling insecure, trying hard to climb up.
To prevent himself from falling.
But for some reason, after a while, he would automatically slide down.
Making him cling tightly to the two fingers.
Wouldn’t it be easier to let him run on the ground?
Besides, didn’t he say his fur was dirty…
Tch.
He paused, Fan Yue raised his brow slightly, then threw him up forcefully.
Bai Xuci: !!!
Ahhhhhhh!
So scary!
Just then, Fuling walked out of the gate.
She saw this scene.
A slight smile in her eyes…
But—
Bai Xuci, fearing Fan Yue wouldn’t catch him, decided to rely on himself.
He transformed…
“Bang!”
An overly enthusiastic hug, his soft white hair even brushing against Fan Yue’s face, his slender but firm waist resting on his arm.
His white clothes fluttered in the wind, his red eyes were bewildered, and his two “legs” were still dangling in the air.
“Eh?”
He hadn’t dropped him; he was a good demon.
Fan Yue looked down at the little rabbit, saying nothing, only his Adam’s apple bobbing.
“…”
He was, indeed, beautiful.
Fuling stood aside, the calm smile on her face showing a slight crack.
However, good manners kept her composed.
“Greetings, Lord.”
Fan Yue looked over, then straightened the rabbit on his arm.
He used a little magic.
Bai Xuci looked down, he had rabbit paws, and he couldn’t transform back.
“…”
Speechless.
“Take him down.” He threw the rabbit away, “Remember to change the location.”
Fuling steadily caught him, then bowed slightly.
“Yes, Lord.”
Bai Xuci: “…”
Did he feel like an object?
