Chapter 54: We Have Approved It
In the end, it was Xie Qiang who separated the two spiritual bodies.
“No fighting.” She scolded the shedding Tian Lang and Silver Fox with a serious expression. “Clean up the table for me.”
Tian Lang and the Silver Fox lowered their heads in grievance, using their paws to pick up their fallen fur. During the process, they accidentally touched each other and began to bare their teeth and brawl again.
Looking at the fur flying everywhere once more, Xie Qiang finally lost her patience.
She picked up the Silver Fox, who was still scratching at the wolf, and threw it out the door. Then she grabbed Mo Yin’s sleeve and escorted him out as well.
“Neither of you is allowed in!” After saying that, Xie Qiang “slammed” the door shut and returned to her seat to continue reading.
Cang Jiu and Mo Yin looked at each other, and a sense of awkwardness, like two people forced on a blind date, suddenly arose.
One silently lowered his head, toying with the silk hairband in his hair. The other tilted his wolf head, looking at the ceiling with an innocent face.
Ah…
This hairband (ceiling) is really a hairband (ceiling).
Base Command Room.
Sen Ji finished directing the last wave of attacks. Watching the Zerg tide retreat, he was about to end his shift when the optical computer on his wrist vibrated a few times.
Seeing the name displayed, Sen Ji’s emerald eyes shrank slightly. Why did His Majesty suddenly send him a message?
Could it be that the cancellation of the engagement he had applied for earlier had received a reply?
Usually, when he submitted a cancellation request, the Emperor would always reject it directly. This was the first time it had taken so long to get an answer—so long that he had almost forgotten about it.
The Emperor… wouldn’t have agreed this time, would he?
His fingertips paused. An emotion similar to resistance actually arose in Sen Ji’s heart. Pursing his lips, he hesitantly opened the optical computer.
[The Emperor: Little Sen, take a look at the “Guide Work Reform Proposal” written by my Qiang’er.]
[The Emperor: It’s your blessing to marry someone so brilliant, cute, and charming.]
[The Emperor: Once you’re done reading, go find Qiang’er. Tell her that I have approved it.]
[The Emperor: [Attachment]]
So it wasn’t an agreement to cancel the engagement.
Sen Ji inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief and clicked on the attachment sent by the Emperor.
The more he read, the more shocked he became.
The proposal was filled with data analysis on the levels and abilities of Sentinels and Guides. Finally, it proposed a highly informative and feasible reform plan for Guide work, which not only greatly guaranteed the purification treatment for Sentinels but even reduced the workload of Guides.
It was hard for Sen Ji to imagine that this was a proposal written by the once-ignorant and Sentinel-loathing Xie Qiang.
So she wasn’t ignorant, she just didn’t want to do it. And now, she truly no longer loathed Sentinels and intended to solve this long-standing malady of the Empire.
A smile touched his lips almost imperceptibly. Sen Ji closed the optical computer, preparing to find Xie Qiang to deliver the good news.
However, as soon as he left the command room, he saw a group of A-class Sentinels crowding over impatiently.
“Commander Sen, please let the Imperial Daughter come out and see us!”
A few leading Sentinels pushed Jiang Qingwan to the front, smiling flatteringly. “Have Jiang Qingwan apologize to the Imperial Daughter and tell her not to be angry anymore.”
Other Sentinels chimed in, “Yeah! When the Imperial Daughter was purifying us through the night, we saw that Jiang Qingwan didn’t stop her, so we thought it would be fine. Who would have thought she’d be jealous of the Imperial Daughter and deliberately torment her until she fainted from exhaustion!”
Jiang Qingwan bit her lip, looking at Sen Ji in embarrassment. “Commander Sen, I didn’t.”
She clenched her palms, her eyes slightly red. “I was also in a difficult position back then. So when the Imperial Daughter said it was my tireless persuasion that made her work, I accepted the credit, but in reality…”
Sen Ji suddenly interrupted her, “What did you just say? The Imperial Daughter fainted?”
“Ah, yes, but it was all Jiang Qingwan’s fault!” The Sentinels explained, “It was her dereliction of duty, she didn’t take good care of the Imperial Daughter!”
Sen Ji’s face instantly darkened. He looked at the near-tears Jiang Qingwan, a visible impatience appearing in his eyes. “Since you know you accepted credit that wasn’t yours, what is there to feel aggrieved about now that you’re facing the backlash?”
Jiang Qingwan was stunned, momentarily lost for words. “I…”
“Guide Jiang, I know you want to improve the treatment of Sentinels, but you can’t just rely on words to persuade people. It will only bring a heavy workload to others.” Sen Ji stepped past her, casting a cold glance. “You even made a name for yourself, causing the Sentinels to overlook the true contributor.”
He withdrew his gaze, and the last sentence he left behind stabbed deeply into Jiang Qingwan’s heart.
“In this regard, you are inferior to the Imperial Daughter.”
Jiang Qingwan stared ahead in a daze, unable to accept such a humiliating evaluation.
She had once worked diligently to purify Sentinels, struggling to maintain the combat power of the seven war zones so the Zerg couldn’t take a single step toward the Empire. For this, she had even sacrificed her love and marriage, rejecting the proposals of all S-class Sentinels and devoting herself to purification.
Even after losing her purification ability, she was still working hard to improve the treatment of low-level Sentinels.
Even the Emperor had praised her and granted her the title of Imperial Goddess.
And what about the Imperial Daughter?
She humiliated Sentinels, did nothing, and even repeatedly insulted the Empire’s God of War. Now that she’s willing to purify Sentinels, wasn’t it because she had tirelessly persuaded her countless times over these past two years that this stubborn Imperial Daughter finally came to her senses!
But he had resolutely denied her contribution just because the Imperial Daughter fainted once, and even humiliated her by saying she was inferior to the Imperial Daughter?
A bitter mockery appeared on Jiang Qingwan’s face.
So these Sentinels only ever cared about actual benefits. As long as the Imperial Daughter was willing to purify them, they could forget all the pain of the past and become groveling dogs for an S-class Guide.
If she hadn’t persuaded other Guides to purify low-level Sentinels, those low-level Sentinels probably wouldn’t respect her either, would they?
Jiang Qingwan clenched her fists tightly, feeling the inferiority of Sentinels for the first time.
Was improving the treatment of Sentinels really the right choice?
For the first time, Jiang Qingwan felt lost.
When Sen Ji found Xie Qiang’s room, he happened to see her throwing Mo Yin and the Silver Fox out, warning them with a fierce but not frightening look not to enter the room.
He gave a silent laugh, then quickly pursed his lips.
It was strange; he had been smiling more and more lately.
When did it start?
Seeing Sen Ji walk over, the Silver Fox gave him an arrogant, side-eyed glance and continued licking its scratched-off fox fur.
Mo Yin also gave him a faint glance.
“You two fought?” Sen Ji was a bit surprised. He hadn’t expected Mo Yin, who looked silent and dull, would be such a childish Sentinel who could fight with a spiritual body.
The Silver Fox looked at Sen Ji as if he were an idiot.
Mo Yin, however, had no expression. He took the initiative to open the door. “Go in.”
Go in and scare that fox.
Sen Ji nodded and stepped inside.
The moment he entered, he saw the semi-beastified Cang Jiu undressing Xie Qiang.
