Part 2
Lu Tu half-crouched, her fingers touching the ground. “This array, an array within an array, linked illusion arrays, twin arrays… The arrays here are as numerous as autumn leaves. He has only been here for a few short days, yet the Master of the Illusion Tower has manufactured so many arrays.”
“But ultimately, he was too rushed for time. These are all ordinary arrays; there are no high-tier arrays.” Speaking, Lu Tu tapped the array lines on the ground a few times, breaking arrays one, two, three, four…
Just as another array was broken, an ordinary-looking pinecone hanging at Lu Tu’s waist suddenly emitted a piercing red light. The red light reflected on the ground, spreading rapidly like ink dropped into water, revealing a grand array hidden beneath the numerous other arrays.
Lu Tu looked at the red array lines. “This is… a Sacrificial Grand Array.”
!!!
“Quickly, get out of the red array’s range!” Lu Tu shouted loudly.
The moment she shouted those words, Mu Mian had already grabbed Mu Miao and flown a long distance away. By the time Lu Tu finished her sentence, Mu Mian crashed into a crimson barrier.
At the same time, several offensive arrays emerged from beneath various concealment and illusion arrays, forcing the group of demons to retreat and counterattack.
Lu Tu: “Attack the place where the red light is the strongest! That’s the array core.”
Following her reminder, Mu Mian attacked the spot with the brightest red light. After one strike, the array lines shattered. Before he could sigh in relief, the broken array lines shifted and twisted, transforming into an entirely different array core.
“What is this thing?!”
A look of agony crossed Lu Tu’s face. The intense emotions impacted the seal on the top of her head. Enduring the pain, she gritted her teeth and said, “A sacrificial contract! Our attacks just now were deemed as consenting to the sacrifice.”
A hand abruptly grabbed her collar. Mu Miao’s face was chilling to the bone as he stared at her with incredibly terrifying eyes. “What did you say?”
“The Master of the Illusion Tower altered the sacrificial ritual. Destroying the array is equivalent to completing the ritual.” If Lu Tu hadn’t sealed her own emotions, she would be cursing out loud right now: Too insidious! She had never seen such a sinister array!
“Stop attacking the array! There might be other arrays linked beneath it. Find the beneficiary of the sacrificial array and kill him.”
“The sacrifices and the beneficiary are the fundamental conditions for activating a sacrificial array. No one can alter that.”
Lu Tu spoke rapidly, and the red light in the array faded.
The demons who had just struck the sacrificial array all sensed their power continuously draining away.
Even the demons who hadn’t attacked were nothing but lambs waiting to be slaughtered.
The beneficiary of the array was currently being lectured: “Focus your mind, suppress your cultivation base, and construct the Shenfu.”
Song Yilou: “Building a house is so troublesome. Gu don’t need houses; a hole is enough. Without a hole, living on the Temple Master’s bed is even better! That’s where I belong!”
“Stop talking nonsense. If you don’t want to explode from the swelling energy, build it quickly,” Yun Wuxiang urged.
Song Yilou spread his hands, opening up his divine soul’s inner mansion. “Temple Master, build it for me. I don’t know how to build a house.”
The Shenfu was the mark of reaching the Tian Jie and the foundation for everything beyond it. For something so important, how could one let someone else help construct it?
Song Yilou, with his arms spread wide, simply laid down, adopting the rogue attitude of ‘if you don’t take care of me, I’ll just lie here and die,’ allowing the overflowing cultivation base to run rampant within his body.
Yun Wuxiang slapped Song Yilou’s forehead. His divine sense probed into Song Yilou’s body and began to hammer out a Shenfu for him.
If this guy exploded here, Yun Wuxiang would be the one getting blown up.
Following his own aesthetic preferences, Yun Wuxiang hammered out a simple and atmospheric Shenfu inside Song Yilou’s body.
While he was building the house, Song Yilou’s divine soul circled around him, staring at him from left to right, occasionally poking him mischievously, completely ignoring his own Shenfu.
After constructing the Shenfu, Yun Wuxiang, who originally wanted to carve some flowers on the pillars, was pushed out of the Shenfu by a burst of force.
Outside, Song Yilou opened his eyes, the corners of his mouth lifting. “It’s here.”
Vines burst forth from the ground, howling as they struck like a frenzied tide of giant pythons.
Yun Wuxiang looked down at the extra head resting on his lap and pushed it away.
Smack. A Gui Gu fell to the ground.
“Temple Master…” Song Yilou sent a resentful glance at Yun Wuxiang, then turned and rushed out of the cage.
The long saber brimming with ghost qi clashed with the woven vine whip, emitting an ear-piercing shriek.
Song Yilou: “You guys who interrupt my romance, just end yourselves early.”
“Tian Rank! It’s you!” When Mu Mian clashed with Song Yilou, he noticed his cultivation base had skyrocketed.
Killing intent surged in his pupils. “Die for me!”
As the demon and the ghost fought, Mu Miao looked at Yun Wuxiang in the cage.
“That Gui Xie fought like he had divine assistance in that maze, forcing me to undo Mu Mian’s seal. Yet outside the maze, he was nothing but an ordinary, low-level ghost.”
Thorny brambles sprouted from beneath Mu Miao’s feet, his green demon eyes filled with murderous intent. “Now that the Master of the Illusion Tower has left the Illusion Tower, how much strength do you have?”
Crimson chains emerged beside Yun Wuxiang, with a longsword attached to the end of the chains, the blade hovering by his side.
“Legend has it that twins were originally the same person, splitting themselves into two out of fear of loneliness. If one dies, the other becomes complete, causing their strength to soar.”
He looked at the Mu Mo in front of him. In those crimson eyes that symbolized slaughter and belligerence in the Demon Realm, there wasn’t much killing intent, but rather a pure desire to probe and a faint curiosity.
“I’m somewhat curious. Is this saying true?”
The other demons who arrived late saw the two standoffs.
Over there, the enraged Mo Jun was in a frenzied battle to the death with the Gui Xie whose cultivation had shot up to the Tian Rank. Just the aftershocks of their battle could heavily injure ordinary Di Rank demons. Whether they could help after getting close was one thing, but even approaching was extremely dangerous.
Over here was the Master of the Illusion Tower, trapped in a cage.
Was there even a choice?
A large swarm of demons rushed toward the cage. Once they got close, the white-haired figure in the cage, looking like a caged bird, raised his hand and softly said, “Turn.”
The demons’ vision blurred, and they all returned to the spot where they had just attacked the sacrificial array’s barrier.
The noisy sounds behind him suddenly emptied out. Out of the corner of his eye, Mu Miao swept his gaze over the surrounding empty land. An indescribable disgust and annoyance rose in his heart as he ground his teeth and squeezed out a sentence: “Another array!”
“Just clearing the area.” Running a large-scale spatial array really burned through mana.
Feeling his nearly depleted mana, Yun Wuxiang adjusted his sleeve and calmly asked, “Are you going to wait for the results with me, or with those demons?”
Mu Miao glanced at the chains retracting beside Yun Wuxiang and abruptly launched an attack, sending the thorny brambles charging into the cage. “I bet you don’t have enough mana to use another array!”
The chains beside Yun Wuxiang flared up, the blade at the end severing the brambles that entered the cage.
He indeed had no mana left, but煞氣 (fiendish qi/baleful qi) wasn’t mana.
A figure crashed down from the sky, slamming into the ground and kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
Mu Miao looked worriedly at the sky. He met the eyes of Mu Mian, who was standing on a giant demonic vine munching on a Tianqing Fruit. After feeling a bit reassured, Mu Miao was suddenly surrounded by python-like vines. A ghost saber flew out of the dust, embedding itself into the vines.
Before another giant vine could sweep over, it swiftly flew back into a hand.
Song Yilou caught the saber and jumped out of the crater.
A crimson longsword skewered a Tianqing Fruit and presented it in front of him.
Yun Wuxiang: “Eat the fruit.”
Song Yilou grinned, revealing an excited, bloodthirsty, and ferocious smile. “I don’t need… mph.”
With a flick of the sword, the Tianqing Fruit was shoved right into Song Yilou’s mouth just as he opened it to speak.
Yun Wuxiang: “I wasn’t asking.” He was stating a fact.
Translator’s Notes: Hey everyone, translator here! Things are heating up as Yun Wuxiang starts pulling out his spatial and sacrificial arrays. A few terms to clarify:
