Shocking The Madman Stole Someone Else’s Canary to be His Wife Chapter 65

Chapter 65: No Need to Act With Me

“Know how to yield now?”

Pei Zhouye’s tone was calm, as if he had already guessed something.

He let out a sigh of relief. “Alright, no need to act with me. Wen Yan, even if you didn’t do this, I would still do it for you.”

Wen Yan’s expression froze, and he slowly released Pei Zhouye’s hand.

It was obvious Pei Zhouye had expected this, clearly guessing that he was putting on an act.

Wen Yan’s reaction was a bit slow; he didn’t know where the problem lay.

Pei Zhouye lowered his head, swiping on his phone with his right hand while holding Wen Yan’s wrist with his left to lead him forward.

Single Changing Room

In front of Wen Yan, Pei Zhouye dialed a number.

“Go check on Min Yue. Ask her directly and clearly. Tell her not to blab about things she shouldn’t say.”

Pei Zhouye looked at Wen Yan. “Anything else?”

The special assistant on the phone: “What did you say, President Pei?”

Wen Yan felt unsettled under this gaze, feeling a bit more guilty. “No more.”

“Mn.” Pei Zhouye continued speaking to the person on the phone. “Check thoroughly. Contact me anytime if there are issues.”

The call ended.

Pei Zhouye sat on a chair and pulled Wen Yan into his embrace. “Say less of the things I don’t like to hear. No need for that; if you want to complain to me, just say it directly.”

Wen Yan didn’t speak.

Pei Zhouye looked up in confusion, meeting a pair of clear, calm eyes.

His voice was dry; being looked at like this made his speech slower.

“Letting me guess is fine too…”

The end of his sentence was blocked by Wen Yan leaning in to kiss him.

Pei Zhouye was stunned for a moment, placing his hand on Wen Yan’s back to deepen the kiss.

He should be angry, but his heart softened into a complete mess.

When Wen Yan came out of the changing room, his lips were red and swollen, eyes rippling with water, a thin flush on his face.

He had stayed inside for no more than five minutes. When he came out, the group was still chatting outside.

Seeing him, there was some surprise in their eyes, but they looked away, minding their own business.

Shen Yao frowned in worry. “Why is my brother’s temper so bad? How long is this cold war going to last? Why did he kick Wen Yan out directly?”

Wang Shu looked at Shen Yao like he was looking at a mental patient, actually feeling some concern for Shen Yao’s brain.

“This means he’s been coaxed.”

After saying such hurtful words, the two had only been in a cold war for half a day, and he was coaxed in three minutes. And Shen Yao was still complaining about Pei Zhouye’s bad temper.

Shen Yao didn’t believe it. “Then why did he come out so soon?”

Wang Shu was speechless to the point of helplessness with Shen Yao, explaining impatiently, “There are so many people outside. Would you be willing to let your ‘Love Notes’ ex-girlfriend perform a full set in there?”

“How is that possible! She isn’t some…” Shen Yao reacted strongly, then suddenly understood Wang Shu’s point. “I get it.”

As long as the two had made up, it was fine; otherwise, it was quite uncomfortable as it was.

Shen Yao immediately smiled and went to talk to Wen Yan, pulling him over to chat so he wouldn’t be left out alone.

Wang Shu glanced at them and sighed.

No brains, but a good heart.

It was late November now. The mountains were cold at night. The group had drunk alcohol last night and stayed up almost all night; their bodies would inevitably be unable to handle night climbing and camping tonight.

The itinerary was changed to a hotel halfway up the mountain. Driving up the mountain counted as climbing.

They would watch the sunrise; Pei Zhouye and Wen Yan prepared to watch the stars from the hotel.

Wen Yan finished showering and drying his hair. His phone rang, and he reached out to check.

A video call from his mom.

He put on his slippers and went to the balcony, tapping answer.

“Mom, what’s up?”

Mother Wen had been busy with the school’s teacher selection recently. Outstanding teachers would receive a bonus, and their future salary would also increase.

Mother Wen replied with a smile, “Haven’t called you in a while, missed you. What are you doing?”

“I’m with friends,” Wen Yan answered truthfully. “On the mountain preparing to watch the stars.”

Father Wen’s voice came from off-screen. “It’s almost December; it’s not suitable for camping, the season has passed. Why arrange it at this time?”

When it was arranged, it was September, so naturally, the season had passed.

Wen Yan: “Not camping.”

There was the sound of a hairdryer in the room.

Father Wen had just taken the phone, his expression changing slightly. “With which friend? Did you mention them to us before?”

Wen Yan took a silent deep breath to encourage himself.

“Pei Zhouye. You’ve met him before.”

He wasn’t good at lying, nor did he like lying.

There was silence on the phone for a while.

Footsteps outside were getting closer.

Probably Pei Zhouye couldn’t find him in the room and was now walking toward the balcony.

Father Wen’s voice turned a few degrees colder. “Are the two of you together?”

At this moment, the balcony door was pushed open.

Wen Yan’s face paled a few shades. The hand holding the phone stiffened; he didn’t know what to do.

He was afraid that if he signaled Pei Zhouye, his parents would notice.

“Is that Uncle and Auntie?” Pei Zhouye’s tone was natural. “A group of us friends came out to play together. Wen Yan and I are sharing a room.”

As Pei Zhouye spoke, he used his phone to message Shen Yao.

[Find someone to stay in your room with you now.]

[Shen Yao: Is Wang Shu okay? We’re both in my room now.]

Pei Zhouye’s expression was a bit strange.

[Wen Yan is on a call with Uncle and Auntie. We might come over in a bit, is it convenient?]

Shen Yao’s hand shook, almost dropping the phone. Pei Zhouye actually talking to me like this.

[Shen Yao: Convenient! We’re playing games. There’s some food on the table; maybe we’ll tidy up a bit now.]

[No need.]

Pei Zhouye put down his phone.

“Shen Yao and the others are calling us over for a late-night snack. Want to go together?”

Didn’t we just have a late-night snack?

Wen Yan understood Pei Zhouye’s meaning and nodded. “Let’s go together.”

Father Wen still had no intention of hanging up. Wen Yan braced himself and walked for a bit with the video on.

The camera was switched to the rear, avoiding the room decorations as much as possible.

Shen Yao’s room was next door to theirs.

After knocking for a while, Shen Yao ran over to open the door. “Come in, come in.”

Wang Shu sat on the sofa. “Come on, been waiting for you two for a long time.”

The two pretended to be surprised, not knowing Wen Yan was on a call, and greeted Father Wen and Mother Wen one by one.

They looked to have lively personalities, were handsome, and had generous characters. Unlike Pei Zhouye, who gave Father Wen a gut feeling of eyeing Wen Yan like a tiger.

The anger and dissatisfaction on Father Wen’s face finally dissipated. “You guys have fun. Come to Nan City to play another day; Uncle and Auntie will treat you well. Rest early.”

The call finally ended.

Wen Yan and Shen Yao breathed a sigh of relief at the same time.

Shen Yao patted his chest. Heaven knows how scared he was just now of messing up the act.

“You two look like high school students secretly dating early. No wait, my early dating in high school wasn’t even like this.”

Pei Zhouye leaned against the wall, peach blossom eyes curved, looking at Wen Yan.

If he could have been with Wen Yan back then, maybe it would have looked like this.

Wen Yan’s initial nervousness turned into shyness. He pursed his lips, his voice somewhat embarrassed:

“I don’t date early.”

Shen Yao and Wang Shu were stunned for a moment, then clutched their stomachs laughing.

Wen Yan looked at Pei Zhouye at a loss. Pei Zhouye straightened up and patted his head.

“They think you’re cute.”
