Shocking The Madman Stole Someone Else’s Canary to be His Wife Chapter 68

Chapter 68: Good Dog

Wen Yan was violently shoved into the back seat. His shoulder slammed against the leather, forcing a muffled groan from his lips.

He immediately reached for the door handle, his knuckles white from the strain. The door didn’t budge. With a sharp click, the electronic lock engaged, sealing him inside.

No matter what kind of commotion he made, the driver in the front seat remained silent, not uttering a single word.

It was exactly like the ride to Lin Seran’s birthday banquet.

Pei Zhouye opened the door on the other side and sat inside, his face clouded with anger.

“Drive.”

The driver complied. “Yes, President Pei.”

The air pressure inside the car was stiflingly low.

Wen Yan’s wrist throbbed. A large, angry red mark had bloomed across his fair skin.

He stared out the window at the direction they had come from. His friends were still standing there, watching the car.

He broke down, shouting, “Didn’t I say not to let the people around me know?”

Did Pei Zhouye want everyone to know that he was nothing more than a caged plaything? Even if there was a shred of sincerity, that sincerity was the most useless thing of all. Given Pei Zhouye and Gu Yulan’s nature, and the current state of their relationship, it was impossible for them to ever truly be together.

Once again, Wen Yan knew his decision was the right one.

Pei Zhouye leaned in, the gloom in his eyes deepening as he spoke with chilling ferocity: “Can’t you see what his intentions are? Wasn’t it obvious enough last time? Do you insist on letting those people with ulterior motives get close to you?”

“Do you think everyone is like you?” Wen Yan struggled to remain calm, but his chest ached with fury, and his eyes stung.

Wen Yan retorted, “What was I supposed to see? I had no idea it was him before I arrived, and Chen Yuchen didn’t know I would be there either. His investment was negotiated with my classmate two months ago! He doesn’t just invest in us! Do you have to humiliate me like this?”

Pei Zhouye: “Am I that shameful? Does my mere appearance humiliate you?”

Both men were breathing heavily, their faces flushed from the argument.

“Yes!” Wen Yan replied. “Is our relationship even legitimate? I just broke up with Gu Yulan and immediately got ‘kept’ by you. A seamless transition, a physical transaction—do you think any of this is honorable to me?”

With eyes rimmed red, Wen Yan continued, “Should I just make a sign to hang around my neck? Write down exactly how much I cost per month and sell myself proudly?”

The words were incredibly harsh.

The driver was astonished that the usually quiet and composed Wen Yan would speak of himself that way. He silently raised the privacy partition.

Pei Zhouye closed his eyes, his knuckles cracking as he suddenly slammed a fist into the seat.

The leather crumpled under the impact, the tense lines of muscle visible beneath his suit fabric.

“I have never thought of you that way, and you are not that kind of person.”

Wen Yan took a deep breath, suppressing the physiological tears brought on by his anger. He fought to keep his voice from trembling.

“I’ve always thought of myself that way. It’s the truth. And what a great deal it is—making two million in four months. I should be happy.”

Pei Zhouye was wounded by Wen Yan’s words. Wen Yan could curse him, but how could he talk about himself like that?

He did his best to suppress the violent impulses in his blood, but his hands wouldn’t stop shaking.

Silence fell over the car.

Wen Yan had burrowed into a dead-end cycle of thought. He stubbornly trapped himself there, peeling back the scars on his heart over and over again to keep himself awake.

No matter how much it was romanticized, this was an undeniable transaction of money and sex.

Only the sound of their breathing remained.

Wen Yan calmed down. “How did you know I was there? Are you having me watched?”

Pei Zhouye said nothing.

Wen Yan felt a wave of nausea, a chill creeping up his spine.

He grabbed Pei Zhouye’s phone, intending to unlock it.

Pei Zhouye tried to snatch it back. “It doesn’t matter.”

Wen Yan knew his passcode, but this was the first time he had ever proactively taken the phone—only to check if he was being monitored.

There were so many people outside with ill intentions, all sorts of creeps trying to get close to Wen Yan. What was wrong with him keeping track?

The phone screen unlocked.

Displayed on the screen was a map with a single green dot.

Wen Yan snapped his head up, looking at Pei Zhouye in disbelief.

Pei Zhouye’s expression was cold and hard. His peach blossom eyes were full of frankness and indifference as he silently stared back.

The streetlights outside the window flashed by. Light and shadow shifted behind Pei Zhouye, whose face remained a mask. His dark eyes were like a pool of stagnant water.

The chill surged. Wen Yan felt as if an evil spirit were clutching his throat, making it impossible to breathe.

It wasn’t that he was being followed by people.

It was a GPS tracker.

The car stopped. They had returned to the main entrance of the villa.

Wen Yan shrank back, leaning against the door, unwilling to get out.

He couldn’t imagine what else a man capable of using a tracker would do.

Pei Zhouye opened the door, ignoring his struggles. His large hand clamped onto the flesh of Wen Yan’s thigh, and with a slight tug, he dragged him out.

No matter how hard he struggled, it was futile. Wen Yan gripped the car handle tightly, but Pei Zhouye pulled him into his arms regardless.

His bony, powerful palm covered Wen Yan’s hand on the handle. Wen Yan’s entire body gave a small shudder.

Wen Yan said whatever came to mind: “Let go! I’m going back to school. I’m not coming back here, you madman…”

He used his nails to scratch Pei Zhouye’s hand until it was a bloody mess.

Yet Pei Zhouye didn’t waver. With irresistible strength, he peeled Wen Yan’s fingers off the handle one by one.

When they entered the house, the waiting butler quickly lowered his head.

Wen Yan grabbed onto anything he could see.

After he grabbed onto something yet again, the silent Pei Zhouye lost his patience. He simply pinned Wen Yan’s wrist with one hand to stop his frantic movements.

Wen Yan took the opportunity to bite down on the back of Pei Zhouye’s hand.

The taste of rust filled his mouth. He bit so hard he almost reached the bone.

“Wen Yan.”

Pei Zhouye frowned. He used his other hand to release Wen Yan and then gripped his chin hard, forcing his mouth open.

“So fond of biting… are you a dog?”

Wen Yan was so frightened by the coldness in his tone that he didn’t dare reply.

Seeing him quiet down, Pei Zhouye let out a self-deprecating smirk.

“Since you love being a dog so much, I’ll teach you a different way to be one today.”

“Being too good to you is useless. You’re better suited to being locked at home, playing the part of a good dog.”

Wen Yan’s pupils shrank. “What do you mean?”

Pei Zhouye didn’t answer. He scooped Wen Yan up, slinging him over his shoulder, and walked upstairs step by step.

The sound of a key turning in a lock.

Wen Yan was slammed onto the mattress, the down comforter sinking under him. Just as he tried to prop himself up, Pei Zhouye leaned over and pinned his shoulders.

His wrist suddenly felt a chill.

Click—

The sound of metal snapping shut was exceptionally clear in the silent room.

Unable to break free, he looked down and froze.

It was a pair of handcuffs.

Silver, meticulously lined with velvet.

He looked up blankly, and as he took in the decor of the room, his heart sank further and further.

The room was strangely decorated, filled with various ornaments that showcased the owner’s malice. There were numerous handcuffs, long thin chains, exquisite collars, and the massive bed he was currently lying on.

A magnificent birdcage.

Wen Yan thought of the peaceful stability of the past period, the strangers constantly entering and leaving the house, and Pei Zhouye’s casual “just renovating.”

He had wanted to do this ever since they returned from B City! That calm had all been a facade.

Wen Yan shrank back, looking into Pei Zhouye’s eyes with pure terror.
