Cannon Fodder O Pretending to be A Will Lose Their Vest Chapter 26.1

Chapter 26: The Pervert Secretly Watching Him is His Brother part 1

After blacklisting the school, Jiang Chenyan was ready to sleep, but he received a message from Ling Yi asking if he and Shen Shiyue wanted to come out for a drink. The pressure lately was truly too great; they should treat it as pre-match relaxation.

Jiang Chenyan turned to look at Shen Shiyue. “Want to go? Just for a bit, we won’t drink much.”

Shen Shiyue hesitated briefly but finally nodded. “Alright.”

Jiang Chenyan understood; he actually really wanted to go. He replied to Ling Yi. Immediately after, Ling Yi sent an address with the text: “Hurry up.”

The meeting place was a lively bar. Before they even entered, the noisy music inside gave Jiang Chenyan a headache. Ling Yi was already waiting at the door. As soon as he saw them, he smiled and came over. “We were just waiting for you two.”

Once inside, Jiang Chenyan was briefly stunned. The storefront outside was relatively ordinary, but the inside of the bar was extremely luxurious. It was decorated with crystal pendant lamps, their fractured light flickering and shifting with the shadows, colorful and brilliant.

Ling Yi leaned into Jiang Chenyan’s ear, his voice made faint by the surrounding music. He said with a pained expression, “This place is deathly expensive.”

As Jiang Chenyan followed him inside, he asked casually, “Why book it if it’s so expensive?”

“To have a good time,” Ling Yi shrugged. “If our mood is good, maybe we’ll perform exceptionally during the competition.”

Jiang Chenyan smiled but didn’t speak.

Ling Yi also knew that being too noisy wasn’t good, so he didn’t lead them to the crowded area. Instead, he led the two to a relatively quiet corner.

Ji Xuan and Du Er were already sitting there. Seeing them arrive, they raised their hands in greeting.

As Jiang Chenyan and the others sat down, Ji Xuan poured him and Shen Shiyue a glass of blue liquid. “It’s a mild mix.”

Jiang Chenyan took the drink and was about to taste it when his wrist was lightly pressed by Shen Shiyue. “The alcohol content isn’t low. Drink less.”

“Got it,” Jiang Chenyan replied. He truly only took a shallow sip before placing the glass on the table.

Beside them, Ji Xuan took in the scene. His gaze circled between the two, and he silently lowered his head, picking at his fingers.

Jiang Chenyan said, “You guys drink less too. There’s a competition tomorrow; we need to stay in good condition.”

The others agreed with him. They put down their glasses and occasionally played a few rounds of cards. Relaxing a bit was fine, but they couldn’t truly let it interfere with tomorrow’s match. They didn’t go to sing either, instead sitting quietly in their seats, looking a bit out of place with the lively atmosphere around them.

Jiang Chenyan held his glass between his fingers, taking a sip every now and then. His cheeks were flushed with a faint red, and he had a bit of a tipsy, lazy look, though he was still clear-headed.

He didn’t notice that quite a few gazes had already quietly landed on him, but for some reason, no one dared to come forward and start a conversation.

After chatting for a while, Ling Yi finally couldn’t hold back. He dragged Ji Xuan and Du Er toward the dance floor, and they were soon submerged in the clamorous music and crowd.

Seeing this, Jiang Chenyan also stood up. He reached out and grabbed Shen Shiyue’s wrist, following them toward the dance floor.

Shen Shiyue’s brows furrowed slightly. His voice was muffled by the bar’s noise as he said hesitantly, “Jiang Chenyan, I don’t know how to dance.”

The music was so loud it made his eardrums vibrate. Jiang Chenyan didn’t hear the second half and only caught the “don’t know” part. He immediately pulled him into the crowd. “What are you afraid of? Just move however.”

A sudden surge of people came from behind. Jiang Chenyan was pushed, losing his footing. He stumbled back half a step and accidentally stepped on someone’s shoe. He immediately looked back and moved his foot. “Sorry, I’m truly sorry.”

When he looked up, Jiang Chenyan was slightly stunned. This person didn’t look like a bar regular. How to put it? He had an aura of righteousness all over him. Unlike ordinary people seeking excitement and pleasure, this one looked more like he was at the bar to catch someone.

He had a high bridge of the nose and upright features; every part of him radiated a coldness that kept people a thousand miles away, making one inexplicably fearful.

The man was over half a head taller than Jiang Chenyan, his shadow pressing down heavily. The pressure was almost enough to envelop a person.

Everything had been relatively normal until the man saw Jiang Chenyan’s face. A cold light suddenly erupted in his eyes.

Jiang Chenyan held Shen Shiyue’s hand, wanting to go around to a different spot to continue dancing, but his wrist was suddenly grabbed by the man.

“Where are you going?” His voice was low, carrying an unquestionable strength.

Jiang Chenyan struggled a bit, thinking the man had drunk too much and mistaken him for someone else.

It was a bit bizarre.

Jiang Chenyan’s tone turned cold. “I’ve already apologized. Please let go.”

The man’s brows furrowed, and his knuckles turned white. However, after a few seconds, he let go.

Jiang Chenyan didn’t give him another look. He pulled Shen Shiyue and turned to leave, blending back into the dance floor.

Once they were hot all over from dancing and exhausted, Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue went to the quiet area to rest. Ji Xuan and the others were still making a scene on the dance floor.

He had just picked up his glass to take a sip when the back of his neck felt inexplicably tight. He felt as though a gaze was stuck to him.

Following that gaze, it was indeed that man.

The man was sitting in a booth not far away. He wasn’t drinking, nor was he looking at anyone else; he just stared in his direction, his gaze as dark as ink that wouldn’t clear.

Jiang Chenyan’s fingers paused. The irritation he had just suppressed flared up again, and he lost interest in even drinking.

“Shen Shiyue, I want to go back.”

He’d been targeted by a pervert; who was in the mood to play?

Seeing him holding the glass without moving for a long time while frowning, Shen Shiyue leaned in and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Chenyan’s finger rubbed the rim of the glass. His voice was low. “I feel like there’s always a gaze stuck to me in the bar.” Actually, it wasn’t just that man; when he was dancing earlier, quite a few people wanted to touch him or get handsy, but Shen Shiyue had blocked them all.

Shen Shiyue understood. He had wanted to take Jiang Chenyan away long ago. He tapped on his optical computer. “I just left a message for Ji Xuan and the others. Let’s head out first.”

Jiang Chenyan instinctively glanced in the man’s direction. He happened to see someone lean in to talk to the man; the man’s attention was diverted, and he temporarily moved his gaze away from Jiang Chenyan.

Jiang Chenyan took the opportunity to lead Shen Shiyue away.

In the booth, the man dismissed the person who had approached him. When he looked up again, the spot from before was already empty.

His fingertip lightly rubbed the rim of the glass. A cold laugh escaped his throat, and his eyes were dark. “You really don’t want to recognize me that much?”

Jiang Chenyan had touched a bit of alcohol last night, so he slept exceptionally soundly. In the morning, he changed into his team uniform and walked with Shen Shiyue toward the gathering point.

They were entering the simulator today and would be staying for two weeks.

The field was noisy. Many parents had specifically rushed over; most hadn’t seen their children for several months and were gathered around, engaged in long-winded small talk.

Even Shen Shiyue was called away.

In the end, only Jiang Chenyan and Ji Xuan were left. They simply found a cool spot under a shed to sit down.

Ji Xuan asked him, “Jiang Chenyan, how are you feeling right now?”

“No feeling.”

He hadn’t seen a single sign of them yet. They were probably tricking him.

It was better if they didn’t come; it made it easier to avoid being exposed.

The two didn’t speak further, and the air was quiet for a while. Then, a few school-level teachers walked toward them. One of them spoke with a smile: “Student Jiang, your parents have been waiting for you in the lounge for a long time. Let us take you over.”

Jiang Chenyan: “…”

He didn’t want to go.

After a few seconds of silence, he still stood up. “Ji Xuan, I’ll be back in a bit.”

Ji Xuan nodded. “Alright.”

Jiang Chenyan followed the teachers to the lounge. Opening the door, he indeed saw a middle-aged couple. Their clothes were sophisticated, and their aura clearly wasn’t ordinary.

He had specifically looked up the original body’s parents on his phone, so he knew what they looked like.

The system bounded around in his mind:

[System: Wow! No plot triggered for days, and now we’re meeting the parents directly!]
