Sentinel & Guide: From Pariah to Heartthrob Chapter 61

Chapter 61: Not Fond of Eagles

Under the dawn light, his posture was arrogant. His high nose bridge divided his sharply-contoured face into distinct light and dark halves, and his sharp golden eyes were fixed firmly on Chi Wan.

“Chi Wan, accompany Base A1. I’ll give you…”

Chi Wan didn’t even look at him, simply looking at the Alliance inspection captain beside her:

“I’m certain. Thank you for your hard work.”

“Sister Kui An, let’s go.”

Chi Wan took Kui An’s soft little hand and pulled her forward.

Kui An glanced at Cang Lin, whose expression looked like he was about to lose it, and followed with a hearty laugh.

Shi Ye glanced at Cang Lin, said nothing, and turned to walk toward the spaceship.

Shen Yu, however, asked the confusion in his heart:

“What did you do to her? Why is she so repelled by you?”

Cang Lin didn’t say a word, his lips tightly pursed as he watched the back of Chi Wan entering the spaceship.

That day, when he had forced entry into her mental landscape, the sight of her weeping helplessly surfaced in his mind.

Since then, the look in her eyes when she saw him was full of fear and disgust.

He should have been happy.

But now, his heart was filled with confusion and restlessness.

Cang Lin’s tone carried a hint of annoyance:

“I once made her cry.”

Hearing Cang Lin’s words, Shen Yu’s heart skipped a beat.

On the motorcycle, hadn’t he also teased her until she cried?

Would she also hate him this much in the future?

The youth felt a bit of lingering fear and turned to follow her, even running to catch up.

Passing through the white corridor, he found that striking silver in the mechanical cabin. Chi Wan was talking and laughing with Kui An, while behind them, Shi Ye was inspecting firearms.

“Here is what you wanted. Red Leopard 1-07.”

Kui An looked at the firearm Shi Ye handed over. The body was long and slender, with black leopard spots evenly dotting the red frame. It was cool and beautiful.

Her eyes lit up as she took it.

Shen Yu walked over to Chi Wan, who was selecting from the firearm types on the star-screen, and volunteered as a guide:

“Which one does Guide Chi Wan want?”

Chi Wan took a fancy to a white firearm:

“This one looks good, but I don’t know the range or effectiveness.”

Shen Yu looked at the gun.

Oh no, he wasn’t familiar with guns either.

“That’s a batch Qi Ye recently sent over. He knows them best.”

Shi Ye, leaning against the table, swept a calm glance over.

Shen Yu immediately called Qi Ye on his light-brain.

The moment the call connected, Qi Ye’s magnetic, somewhat cold voice came through the light-brain:

“Is something wrong?”

Shen Yu focused on the gun:

“Do you have time? I’d like to ask about that latest batch of firearms.”

Through the light-brain, the man’s naturally detached voice was accompanied by heavy breathing, obviously having just experienced an intense battle:

“I’m a bit busy.”

The background noise was slightly chaotic.

Hearing that he might be in a Pollution Zone, Shen Yu said politely:

“Then sorry for the disturbance. When you have time.”

As he spoke, he looked at Chi Wan, who was studying the star-screen seriously:

“Look at some other guns, Guide Chi Wan. I don’t know much about the data for this one.”

The call that was supposed to be closed still glowed with blue light. Qi Ye’s voice came from the light-brain again.

“Which gun?”

Shen Yu raised an eyebrow: “Aren’t you busy?”

“A few moments can be spared.”

Shen Yu nodded: “Alright, I’ll send you the picture of this gun.”

Just as he was about to open the synchronized image function, Qi Ye’s voice-to-video call came through.

The moment the video connected, the floating star-screen projected in the air. In the footage, the grey-haired Qi Ye had cold, narrow eyes. Even though his hair and face were stained with quite a bit of dust, his brilliance was still hard to hide.

Behind him, the figures of Sentinels moved back and forth in the pollution mist.

Shen Yu aimed the camera at the star-screen in front of Chi Wan:

“This white gun.”

Qi Ye looked at the gun: “That gun isn’t suitable for her. Page 157, number 38219. There is a Spirit Eagle 7-01; it’s the most suitable firearm for a Guide.”

Shen Yu quickly turned the page to 157.

The gun at number 38219 was white and grey. Eagle feathers surrounded the gun body with smooth lines. Its shape was small and delicate, and its design alone was extraordinary.

Shen Yu looked down at Chi Wan: “Do you like this one?”

Qi Ye could only see the star-screen from his end, not the other images. He couldn’t help but speak:

“Turn the camera toward her. I’ll explain it to her in detail.”

The camera turned, and Chi Wan’s small face appeared on Qi Ye’s star-screen.

She was focused on the screen in thought. Under the blue light, her translucent small face was almost covered in a layer of faint light.

Qi Ye’s eyes softened instantly, and even his voice involuntarily became gentler:

“Although the range of this gun is only one kilometer, its power is great, the recoil is small, and it weighs 900 grams. It’s light and simple, suitable for a Guide.”

The small person in the screen frowned and shook her head:

“I don’t like eagles.”

Shen Yu’s face squeezed into the screen, instantly occupying the entire space:

“Are there any other gun recommendations?”

Qi Ye’s eyes returned to their usual cold indifference:

“Page 158, 38301. Spirit Snake 6-88. A newly developed ion blast gun suitable for Guides.”

Shen Yu called up the picture of the gun.

The silver body was as flexible as a snake, with a silver snake body winding around the grip. The trigger design was a beautiful snake tail.

The more Chi Wan looked at it, the more she liked it.

Shen Yu saw her silence but thought she didn’t like it.

He looked down at her: “Guide Chi Wan, do you also dislike snakes?”

From Qi Ye’s angle, he could only see the tall Shen Yu blocking Chi Wan completely.

“It seems you girls don’t like creatures like snakes. Let’s change it then!”

Shen Yu turned back to look at Qi Ye on the screen:

“Are there any white tiger-themed firearms to recommend?”
