Chapter 62: Arrival
“She doesn’t like snakes?”
Qi Ye raised his brows, searching the screen for a glimpse of Chi Wan, but he couldn’t see even a hint of her.
She was blocked completely.
“I like this Spirit Snake 6-88.”
Chi Wan’s soft voice caused his heart to drop back to its place instantly.
It’s not that she doesn’t like snakes. That’s good.
“Spirit Snake 6-88 is in that latest mechanical crate.”
The silver-white firearm was taken out of the crate. Its beautiful appearance drew Kui An over to watch.
“Wow, it’s beautiful.”
“Silver-white suits you very well, Little Wanwan.”
On the screen, the tall and handsome Sentinel Commanders stood on either side, surrounding the petite and slender Guide in the center.
The Sentinel Commander on the right, in his black leather combat suit, was explaining how to use the gun. Their distance was very close, and as the gun was turned over, their skin occasionally brushed against each other.
The Sentinel Commander on the left, in his white combat suit, had fine white hair that moved slightly with his actions. His clear voice carried a smile, full of youthful spirit.
Suddenly, Qi Ye felt his throat was a bit dry. His Adam’s apple moved slightly:
“Has Guide Chi Wan chosen a team?”
Chi Wan finally raised her eyes and looked at Qi Ye on the screen.
This was the first eye contact between the two since the video connected. This glance crashed into the screen. The blue screen light weakened the reality of the image, but the gaze of those blue-purple eyes still made his heart skip a beat.
It was a very strong physiological reaction.
He suppressed the heart-throb in his eyes and remained as calm as possible.
“Yes. I’m following Base N9 and Base K1.”
Shen Yu seemed to think of something and turned to look at Qi Ye:
“When will you arrive?”
“Two days.”
It was originally four days, but now it seemed that with some haste, he could make it in two.
“Then see you then. Li Su will probably call you for the meeting later. I won’t disturb you further.”
“Alright.”
Outside the mechanical cabin.
Behind Cang Lin, three Sentinels each carried a large crate of Energy Concentrated Fluid.
The hallway lights weren’t particularly bright, making his tightly-frowning face appear even darker.
Behind him, the three Sentinels looked at each other.
They only knew that the Commander had asked them each to carry a crate, but he hadn’t said what for, which left them all quite bewildered.
Cang Lin was about to press the doorbell.
Swish—
But the cabin door opened on its own.
Behind the door, Shen Yu’s voice approached along with his footsteps:
“That’s right. She hates Cang Lin so much; she won’t go to the meeting.”
After speaking, he made eye contact with the person outside the door.
Shen Yu raised an eyebrow, his gaze sweeping from Cang Lin to the three Sentinels behind him:
“Commander Cang, this is…?”
Cang Lin’s face was cold and somber as he strode forward:
“Passing by.”
…
The destination of the Sea of Lost was located over a thousand kilometers away from the Alliance. During the journey, it was necessary to cross a large area of unexplored Pollution Zone.
Therefore, one of the difficult points of the mission was the need to constantly construct temporary safe zones and then spread out for exploration.
After intense high-level meetings and detailed assignments, the spaceship approached the only temporary safe zone at the target location.
This was constructed by the first-departure Base B6.
Many facilities were incomplete, and the pollution mist hadn’t been well isolated.
Almost as soon as the spaceship landed, all the Sentinels and Guides quickly disembarked.
“Where is Yun Qi?”
A Sentinel ran over:
“Reporting to Commander Li, our Commander drove to the exploration zone on his own yesterday and hasn’t returned yet.”
Li Su looked at the unreplied messages on his light-brain:
“Wait for him for half an hour. If he doesn’t return, we’ll set out first.”
“Yes!”
Under the construction of some Sentinels, the temporary safe zone was partially improved.
Finally, twenty-five minutes later, a damaged light armored vehicle drove out of the pollution mist.
The damaged car door, which had several holes smashed into it, was pushed open, and a blood-stained Yun Qi walked out. There was no expression on his scar-filled face.
But the loneliness and dimness in his eyes couldn’t be hidden.
“Any new discoveries?”
“It’s still the same. Endless space-time rifts, distorted space. Many high-level Polluted Entities. Can’t enter the Sea of Lost.”
As he spoke, he tossed a black bag to Li Su. Inside were seven heavy high-level Crystals:
“Split them up.”
After speaking, he turned toward the repair apparatus, skillfully took off his tattered coat, and began repairing his body himself.
“When he’s finished repairing, shall we set out?”
Cang Lin stood up and walked over. There was no trace of fear in his eyes, only an excitement to try.
Li Su looked at Yun Qi, who stood with his head down and said nothing:
“Yes. Proceed as planned.”
