Chapter 76: Are You Really Crying?
Sen Ji didn’t know how he had ended up back in the room.
By the time he came to, Xie Qiang was already sitting on his bed, her small brow furrowed in a look of misery as she pondered something.
He sat on the edge of the bed and tentatively offered his tiger tail, only to have the girl swat it away impatiently. “Behave yourself!”
So fierce!
Sen Ji clutched his stinging tail, a look of grievance crossing his face. “What’s wrong? Why are you angry? Did I do something wrong?”
The man’s voice was thick with hurt. “Also, why did you say we won’t be fiances for long? Are you planning to break the engagement?”
Did she not like him? Or was it that she had fallen for that dusty S-class Sentinel and wanted him to step aside?
Sen Ji’s heart was as sour as could be, yet he stared stubbornly at Xie Qiang, demanding an answer. “If you don’t tell me, don’t even think about sleeping tonight!”
He would keep asking and asking until she was willing to speak!
Xie Qiang glanced at the hurt expression on his face. She felt a momentary surge of pity, but when she remembered that he didn’t actually like her yet she had to sacrifice herself to save him, that pity vanished instantly.
“If I don’t sleep, I don’t sleep! Who’s afraid of you!” She picked up a pillow and threw it at him, puffing out her cheeks. “If you’ve got the guts, don’t sleep either! Whoever sleeps first is a pig!”
“You—” Sen Ji stood up in a hurry, his voice rising. “Are you really that dissatisfied with me?!”
“That’s right!” the girl shouted at the top of her lungs, refuse to back down. “I hate you the most!”
Hate…
She said she hates me the most…
Sen Ji’s tiger body jolted. He slumped back into his chair, looking as if he had lost his soul, leaving only an empty shell wandering the world.
What did it matter if he was an SSS-class Sentinel? What did it matter if he was the future heir of the White Tiger family? His fiancée Guide didn’t like him at all…
Is it really because she thinks I’m old…
The man turned his head away, his eyes gradually becoming moist.
A moment later.
“Sniff… sniff…”
What’s that sound?
Xie Qiang was feeling irritated when she heard the noise. She turned back in wonder, only to see the man’s shoulders heaving up and down. His right arm was raised by his face as if he were wiping something away.
Xie Qiang: !!!
He… he wouldn’t be crying, would he?
After some hesitation, Xie Qiang crawled slowly across the bed. She peeked her head over the edge, carefully looking at Sen Ji’s face.
When she saw the teardrops on his face, she couldn’t help but gasp. “Are you really crying?”
Just because I said I hate him?
The man’s body trembled. He turned further away, turning his back to Xie Qiang and refusing to let her see.
Xie Qiang watched, dumbfounded. She wanted to speak but hesitated. Seeing Sen Ji silently wiping his tears and sobbing softly, she felt a bit speechless, but also found it a bit funny.
She had forgotten—the current Sen Ji’s mental age was eighteen. He was at the age where he couldn’t handle feeling wronged without crying.
“Sen Ji, turn around. Let me see.”
She reached out to cup the man’s face. She thought it would take some effort, but to her surprise, she turned his face back with ease.
The man looked up slightly. On his handsome, valiant face, his emerald-like tiger eyes were brimming with tears. With a slight shimmer, they overflowed like a full cup, falling pitter-patter down his cheeks.
He looked at the girl piteously, blinking his tear-filled eyes. His lips were pursed and pouting, and his voice was as thin as a mosquito’s buzz. “Don’t hate me, okay…”
Xie Qiang stared in shock.
He… he looks so intense when he cries!
Realizing her inner thoughts were a bit inappropriate, Xie Qiang quickly turned his face back away. She lowered her head and covered her mouth, her widened eyes full of self-loathing.
Am I really some kind of pervert?
Sen Ji was crying so piteously, yet she actually felt excited? She even wanted to make him cry all night?
No, no, no!
Xie Qiang quickly let go of him, putting her hands on her hips in a forced show of ferocity. “Stop crying! What do you look like!”
But Sen Ji only cried harder. His golden tiger ears drooped limply and trembled. His misty emerald eyes looked at her with pure misery. “Then bite me.”
Xie Qiang: ?
“I can’t even have a bite?” The man’s eyes were red from crying, his voice hoarse and sour. “I’m not even asking you for a temporary mark, just a simple bite…”
Fine, if it would calm him down.
Xie Qiang lifted his arm, preparing to bite. But the man reluctantly pulled his arm back and pointed to his cheek. “Here.”
Xie Qiang: “…Sen Ji, don’t push your luck.”
Sen Ji: “Sniff… sniff…”
Xie Qiang: “…”
Seeing the man shedding tears so piteously again, Xie Qiang bit into his cheek with a huff. “There! Happy now?!”
The man then turned his other cheek and pointed, his meaning clear.
Xie Qiang squeezed her fists. She opened her mouth and was about to bite down when the man suddenly turned his face back.
This time, her bite carried a bit of venting aggression. She hadn’t expected Sen Ji to turn his head, and she bit straight down onto his lips. She left a very obvious ring of tooth marks around his mouth.
“You—” The girl retreated in a panicked fluster, but she was tripped by the duvet on the bed. Losing her balance, she fell backward.
Sen Ji rose abruptly. His long, powerful tiger tail coiled around her waist, catching her mid-air. But then it suddenly went soft, letting the girl continue her fall.
“Ah—Sen Ji!”
Xie Qiang instinctively cried out the man’s name. A fleeting smile of satisfaction crossed Sen Ji’s lips. Then, like a young mountain tiger, he leaped onto the bed with lithe power, catching her back and falling onto the mattress with her.
Xie Qiang squeezed her eyes shut in fear. After landing softly on the bed, she opened her eyes, only to see her handiwork on the man’s face.
Her world went dark. “Why did you turn around just now?!”
“You were too slow. I thought you didn’t want to bite anymore.” The man’s handsome face was full of innocence. “How was I to know you’d…”
He reached out to touch the tooth marks on his chin, looking a bit shy. “You bit so deep. How am I supposed to see anyone now? People outside will definitely think you’re completely obsessed with me. Even if I tell them you hate me, they won’t believe it.”
?
Xie Qiang was so angry she tried to headbutt him, but the man agilely pressed a hand against her forehead. He rubbed his tiger ears against her cheek. “Xie Qiang, why don’t you bite me a few more times?”
He took her hand, tracing it over his cheek, his Adam’s apple, and his collarbone. He guided it down the skin exposed by his half-unbuttoned black combat suit. “Or, why don’t you try me out? I’m sure I can do better than that Sentinel. I can make you very happy.”
Since no other conditions could move her heart, he could only demonstrate the unique stamina of an SSS-class Sentinel through action!
Feeling the warm, firm texture beneath her hand, Xie Qiang couldn’t help but swallow. Her head was buzzing, making it impossible to think.
Why do I feel like a heavy truck just ran over my face at top speed?
He doesn’t mean what I think he means, does he?
