I Raised a Cub in the Military Academy Chapter 15.1

Chapter 15: Little White Rabbit part 1

The three roommates struggled to control the expressions on their faces and began to talk about other things; not one of them was willing to answer his question directly.

At this moment, Yun Yingzhi had no idea that in the hearts of his three roommates, his strength wasn’t even on par with Yu Feiwen’s brother, who was only eleven years old.

Yun Yingzhi spoke again, “I just want to give it a try. Going to the Yaoming Battle Arena might help me earn some money.”

The three roommates looked at each other.

Having been roommates for over a year, they knew Yun Yingzhi was the son of the General’s Manor, but they weren’t clear on what kind of life he led there. What was certain was that he lived a vastly different life from Yun Yingyao.

The most obvious point was that for over a year, Yun Yingzhi had not squandered money like the children of most wealthy families; he had always been frugal.

They thought that Yun Yingzhi might be short on cash.

After a pause, Yu Feiwen said, “Actually, it depends a lot on luck. If you’re lucky, you might encounter ordinary people who haven’t awakened their Second Form or abilities. But if you’re unlucky, you might run into military students like us.”

The other two roommates agreed.

Yun Yingzhi fell into deep thought.

Seeing that Yun Yingzhi was eager to try, Ji Xiaobo said, “Yingzhi, if you’re interested, maybe I can accompany you for team matches.”

Yun Yingzhi looked at Ji Xiaobo with a confused gaze.

Ji Xiaobo explained, “And for 2V2 doubles matches, the prize money is higher than 1V1 matches.”

Yun Yingzhi was instantly tempted.

Hearing this, the other two roommates also joined in, saying they wanted to participate as well.

Yu Feiwen said, “However, there are no 4V4 matches. After 2V2, it goes straight to 5V5. We still need one more teammate.”

While the four were conversing, a figure suddenly joined them and asked, “Do you think I’ll do?”

The four were stunned and looked toward the newcomer together. What entered their sight was Wei Yuanqing, dressed in a fourth-year uniform.

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid jumped, and his entire body’s fur instantly bristled. He felt like his whole world was about to fall apart.

Even though less than a day had passed, Yun Yingzhi couldn’t remember what questions Wei Yuanqing had asked him earlier, but that didn’t stop his mind from being filled with one question now that he saw him.

Does Wei Yuanqing actually have mind-reading abilities?

If he possessed mind-reading, what was the trigger condition? If he really had it, what if he told His Highness Elvis about what happened that day?

Yun Yingzhi thought that at the very least, it was impossible for someone to know the secrets of another’s heart just by wanting to peer into it; there had to be a trigger.

Wei Yuanqing looked directly at Yun Yingzhi, meeting his eyes, and said, “Speaking of which, I’ve wanted to play multiplayer matches at the Yaoming Battle Arena for a while, but I could never find teammates. Do you mind if I join you?”

Yun Yingzhi thought: Yes, I mind. I really mind!

He minded very much!

Whenever he saw Wei Yuanqing now, he was so embarrassed he felt like he was facing “social death.”

He just hoped now that Wei Yuanqing didn’t actually have any mind-reading powers.

To Yun Yingzhi’s relief, before he could refuse, Yu Feiwen said, “Senior Wei, it would be an honor to have you join us, but our strength is very weak. We’re afraid of dragging you down.”

Yun Yingzhi followed with a nod, his intent to refuse being very clear.

The smile on Wei Yuanqing’s face deepened. “I don’t believe you’ll drag me down at all, and I’m full of anticipation to be on the same team as you. So, please let me join.” He looked straight at Yun Yingzhi, his tone smiling and polite.

Fine beads of sweat broke out on Yun Yingzhi’s forehead. He was still thinking of how to be “iron-headed” enough to refuse.

Wei Yuanqing looked into Yun Yingzhi’s eyes and said, “Student Yingzhi, I believe my strength is quite decent. Are you willing to let me carry you?”

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelid jumped.

Wei Yuanqing’s dark green eyes were full of sincerity as he lowered his voice and said, “Student Yingzhi, your intent in going to the Yaoming Battle Arena shouldn’t be to go just once a month, but daily, hm?”

Yun Yingzhi: “…” True to life.

Wei Yuanqing whispered, “I can take you all out.”

Yun Yingzhi thought: This is a massive temptation.

By the time he reacted, he had already nodded in a daze.

Just like that, the five-person team was crudely formed.

Yun Yingzhi and his three roommates added Wei Yuanqing as a friend, created a five-person group chat, and then parted ways.

After dinner, the five discussed the arena trip in the group chat.

The Yaoming Battle Arena’s team battles had ranks. Each victory increased the team’s score, while a loss deducted points. Reaching a certain score would grant a corresponding rank and prize.

The arena featured 1V1, 2V2, 3V3, 5V5, and 10V10 matches, as well as 25V25 group wars.

As long as one held a rank in the arena, it would slightly affect the matchmaking for other matches, but there was no “stone hammer” proof for this theory yet, as experts could still encounter “whiteboard” rookies in other categories—it all depended on system randomization.

The five agreed to meet tomorrow night at 8:00 PM in the senior dormitory area. Wei Yuanqing would lead them to escape Fense Academy.

Although Yun Yingzhi didn’t particularly want to see Wei Yuanqing again, as a “bad student,” he had been obediently attending classes throughout his school life and had never done anything out of line. Now that he was about to “break out of prison,” he felt exceptionally excited, subtly feeling like he was finally fulfilling his duty as a bad student.

Thinking about it, he felt something was off. Being a bad student meant breaking rules, but Wei Yuanqing…

Wei Yuanqing, who was in the top three of his grade every year, was a bona fide “top student” (Xue Ba).

Setting aside practical combat classes, as far as Yun Yingzhi knew, Wei Yuanqing’s theoretical knowledge was seemingly always number one in the grade.

He was very impressive.

Yun Yingzhi subtly felt that Wei Yuanqing wasn’t fulfilling his “duty” as a top student.

Military students had morning training every day.

Thinking about waking up early for training tomorrow, Yun Yingzhi forced himself to sleep. However, whether it was because of Huai Boshe, the “social death” from the morning, or the thought of fulfilling his “bad student duty” tomorrow, he wasn’t sleepy at all.

One moment he thought of Huai Boshe and got angry about why he had liked such a scumbag who had zero self-awareness; the next, he thought of how he had clung to Elvis’s pant leg in his second form and “nuzzled” him, and he felt humiliated. Then he thought of the possibility that Wei Yuanqing had a mind-reading ability, and finally, he began to look forward to entering the Yaoming Battle Arena tomorrow night.

It wasn’t until around 2:00 AM that Yun Yingzhi finally fell into a dazed sleep.

He hadn’t slept for long when, around 4:30 AM, Ji Xiaobo woke him up.

The four got up to wash. Yun Yingzhi was constantly out of it, stumbling as he got out of bed and even bumping into the corner of the desk, his body swaying.

The three roommates stopped what they were doing and looked at the groggy Yun Yingzhi with worried eyes.

Even after washing up, Yun Yingzhi was still incredibly sleepy.

Since he was a child, he had always needed more sleep than others. If he didn’t sleep well, his spirit would be severely affected.

Yu Feiwen said, “How about this, Yingzhi: why don’t you transform into your second form and we’ll carry you to the training hall?” He asked tentatively.

In fact, since becoming roommates with Yun Yingzhi, they had done this often.

At first, without Yun Yingzhi’s knowledge, the three had almost come to blows over the question of who got to carry the little white rabbit to the training hall. Eventually, they reached a consensus that since it wasn’t a long walk, the three would take turns carrying him.

It was fair, and everyone was happy.

Yun Yingzhi had originally intended to agree, but in the next moment, he thought of his “social death” behavior yesterday. He forced his sleepy body to endure and painfully shook his head in refusal.

The three didn’t show it on the surface, but internally, they were deeply regretful.

Morning training started at 5:00 AM. With fifteen minutes left, the four sprinted toward the combat hall.

Two minutes before 5:00, they arrived at the training hall and joined their class line.

The training hall was filled with people. Many students were whispering, talking about the little white rabbit His Highness Elvis had held in his arms yesterday. That rabbit was so cute and so similar to Yun Yingzhi’s second form—everyone wanted to know where the Crown Prince had bought it.

Listening to the students’ words, Yun Yingzhi was forced to recall everything that had happened yesterday. His cheeks turned a flush of crimson, and he felt extremely humiliated.

At 5:00 sharp, the instructor arrived at the training ground. The gossiping students instantly went silent; no one wanted to be the “protruding bird” that got shot.

Morning training began.

The training lasted for an hour and a half, with a short break in the middle.

Yun Yingzhi was still sleepy. He forced himself to stay focused and followed the instructor’s commands.

Around 6:00 AM, the instructor said, “Starting now, we will conduct sparring for half an hour.”
