Chapter 29: Shen Shiyue, You’re Pressing on Me
Jiang Chenyan’s face darkened. He turned to look at Shen Shiyue. “Shen Shiyue, do you dare to bet?”
Shen Shiyue curled his lips. He knew that Jiang Chenyan already had an idea in his mind. “What is there to not dare?”
He always believed in him.
Jiang Chenyan knew in his heart that once they took this step, it would be a matter of life and death.
His method was too risky.
Jiang Chenyan leaned in slightly, moving close to Shen Shiyue’s ear to whisper a few words in a low voice. After Shen Shiyue finished listening, his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly, and then he nodded gently.
Mu Sixian took in the actions of the two, and a snort escaped his throat.
Still discussing a plan? It was just a struggle at the brink of death.
Mu Sixian liked Jiang Chenyan’s personality more and more, and consequently, he became more and more curious about what kind of plan Jiang Chenyan had in his mind.
In the stands outside the field, everyone was already in a mess.
“What’s going on? Why are they surrounded?”
“The one surrounding them is actually Mu Sixian. Then Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue are definitely dead.”
“Indeed. Mu Sixian is currently ranked first. He and Xie Huaijin have always been fighting for this first place, with their rankings switching back and forth. How can it be good for Jiang Chenyan to meet them?”
“I heard that the Jiang family is also here. If they see this scene, I wonder what their reaction will be?”
“Shh, keep your voice down. The Jiang family has Jiang Xuanshen…”
Another person gave a click of his tongue and countered, “What’s there to be afraid of? There are plenty of people with backgrounds in the Alliance Military Academy. Even my family is on par with the Jiang family. What’s there to be afraid of?”
When a certain student heard this: “…”
How about I kill him to liven things up for you?
Jiang Xuanshen’s face was so dark it could drip ink. He stared at the big screen without a word, his gaze deathly fixed on Jiang Chenyan’s face. The low pressure all around was enough to freeze the surrounding air.
Kai Lan suddenly shivered. A layer of goosebumps instantly appeared on his arm. He couldn’t help but murmur: “Why is there a sudden chill?”
He instinctively turned his head to look back. His gaze swept over two rows of seats, and his whole body instantly froze.
“Holy crap!” He hurriedly nudged Ariel beside him with his elbow, his voice extremely low. “Is that Jiang Chenyan’s eldest brother?”
Ariel looked in the direction he pointed for a moment, was silent for a while, and then nodded slowly: “Yes.”
“Why? Are you interested in Jiang Chenyan, so you secretly investigated his family and became interested in his family as well?”
Kai Lan’s face tightened. He hurried to tug on Ariel’s arm. “Stop talking nonsense!”
He didn’t know what kind of madness Ariel was having, saying crazy things all day.
Ariel curled his lips and gave a playful, light laugh: “One Alpha, one Omega. I understand this.”
Kai Lan’s mouth twitched. Understand my ass.
He knew that he couldn’t explain it to Ariel at all, so he stopped wasting his breath.
He couldn’t help but steal another glance in Jiang Xuanshen’s direction. With this glance, his heart suddenly shrank. Jiang Xuanshen actually looked over, and their gazes met.
In just a second, Kai Lan felt like he had been bitten by a poisonous snake. He jerked his head back, even his breathing becoming lighter.
“Holy crap, this person is a bit weird.”
“Weird?” Ariel frowned, pushing up his gold-rimmed glasses. “What kind of description is that?”
“Also, can you watch your words? The other person is an officer, a real officer!” Ariel especially emphasized the last few words, afraid that Kai Lan would be outspoken again.
“I heard you! Can you keep your voice down? He’s so close to us.” Kai Lan was so anxious he almost reached out to cover Ariel’s mouth.
Ariel gave a low laugh, not caring. “How can he hear so easily?”
As soon as the words were out, an extremely cold voice pressed down from above their heads: “Is it very fun to gossip about others?”
Ariel: “…”
The two were instantly frozen in their seats. Even their breathing stopped for half a beat. It took a long time before they bit the bullet and slowly turned around in extreme embarrassment.
Ariel then suddenly remembered his identity as a professor and restrained his previous casualness, becoming serious: “Major Jiang, I’m very sorry. This is actually a student I’ve taught before. His personality is indeed a bit unruly. I’ll educate him well now. Please rest assured.”
Kai Lan listened from the side, looking speechless. “…”
Jiang Xuanshen didn’t plan to waste more effort on these two. He only gave them a cold look and then ignored them, his gaze falling back on the big screen.
On the screen, Mu Sixian was already prepared to launch an attack.
He knew very well in his heart that in this current situation, it would be harder than climbing to heaven for Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue to escape.
Jiang Xuanshen didn’t want to pay more attention to Kai Lan and Ariel below, but the two started a heated discussion, which was all about Jiang Chenyan’s ‘nonsense’. They were directly praising Jiang Chenyan to the sky, betting that Jiang Chenyan would definitely be able to escape.
The more Jiang Xuanshen listened, the more irritated he became. He didn’t say another word, stood up, and silently walked past the two. He found a further seat and sat down again, far away from the two.
Inside the simulator, Mu Sixian stared at Jiang Chenyan, his eyes bloodshot, his blood boiling: “Jiang Chenyan, I’ll give you another ten seconds to consider. Are you really not willing to bow your head and beg? I’m serious about this. As long as you open your mouth and beg me, I’ll let you leave.”
Before Jiang Chenyan could speak, he laughed again. “But Shen Shiyue won’t do. He must be eliminated today.”
Hearing this, Jiang Chenyan raised an eyebrow. “What kind of daydream are you having?”
He gave a light laugh. “Are you that sure Shen Shiyue can be eliminated? I think the one being eliminated today is you.”
Mu Sixian only took these words as Jiang Chenyan’s struggle as a trapped beast, even being amused. “You’re saying I’ll be eliminated? Jiang Chenyan, can’t you even distinguish the current situation?”
Jiang Chenyan didn’t waste more words with him and gave Shen Shiyue a look.
The next second, the skip the two were in suddenly started, turned direction, and headed straight toward Mu Sixian’s several skips.
They didn’t know exactly which skip Mu Sixian was in; this step could only be a bet.
It would be best if they could ‘kill’ Mu Sixian with the crash. If not, they had to make him suffer heavy losses.
The two suddenly controlled the skip to charge over. Mu Sixian didn’t react for a moment. When he snapped out of it, his first thought was that these two were crazy, actually driving the skip to crash directly. If they crashed, both sides would very likely perish together if they weren’t careful.
To actually use such a method.
It was quite ruthless.
But Mu Sixian soon calmed down. Even if they really crashed, the protection and backup plans on his side were more complete; the probability of death was much smaller than theirs.
Furthermore, how would they know which skip he was in?
The sky had already darkened, and the oppressive gloom made it hard to breathe.
At the moment before the skip was about to heavily crash into the other skips, Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue extremely quickly pulled the parachute devices and leaped out from the cabin.
That skip, which had lost control, had long since been set to automatic driving mode, charging toward Mu Sixian’s skip fleet.
Mu Sixian also reacted quickly, immediately deploying a small flight vehicle from his main skip and quickly retreating, which could be considered an escape from disaster.
But the other skips and members under him weren’t so lucky; they didn’t have time to make any retreat moves.
They hadn’t taken this seriously at all before, and they weren’t afraid of Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue crashing at all. They believed that whether it was the protective performance or the sturdiness of their skips, they were much better than the one Jiang Chenyan and the other had.
In their view, if they really crashed, even if it triggered an explosion, the skip that would be destroyed first would only be Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue’s skip.
But everything was unexpected—
Several people completely underestimated Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue.
No one knew what Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue had installed in the skip in advance. The next second, a violent explosion roared, and the skips that didn’t have time to escape were instantly swallowed by the fire.
The explosion immediately triggered a chain reaction. Skips exploded one after another, and the fire almost dyed half the sky red.
The huge explosion carried a terrifying impact that spread outward. Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue in the mid-air were unprepared and were violently shaken by this strong airflow; the parachute devices were nearly destroyed.
Mu Sixian was beyond angry. This was the first time he wanted to deal with Jiang Chenyan. He had escaped, but the people under him were almost all gone, and the skips were completely destroyed.
What made Mu Sixian even more annoyed was that he had completely lost face this time; everyone inside and outside the field was watching.
At this moment, everyone outside was already dazed. Their minds were full of disbelief: the reversal was too great, wasn’t it? One second Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue were certainly dead, and the next second the situation had reversed.
“So, how did the two of them do it? Triggering such a big explosion?”
“No idea. But with so many people on Mu Sixian’s side dead, won’t Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue get a huge amount of points?”
“Indeed. According to the rules, the points added together would definitely be terrifying.”
While several people were gathered and discussing, the situation on the field suddenly changed again. Mu Sixian, controlling the small skip, suddenly launched over a dozen tracking bullets. Dragging eye-catching red tails, they headed straight toward Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue in the mid-air.
The people outside the field were instantly dazed again, and the hearts they had just let down were raised again: “Is this… another reversal?”
“I can guarantee that the two really won’t live this time. These are tracking bullets.”
Jiang Xuanshen’s eyes darkened again, his fingers unconsciously tightening. He knew very well in his heart that this situation was completely different from before. Facing tracking bullets that locked onto the target, he didn’t believe that Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue still had a way to escape.
Over a dozen bullets could turn a person into a sieve.
Being locked onto by so many tracking bullets, there was fundamentally no chance of living.
Furthermore, these bullets were specifically aimed at important body parts; normally, two hits would mean certain death.
Unless Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue were divine beings, they couldn’t possibly survive.
The entire audience held their breath, their gazes deathly fixed on the mid-air.
The tracking bullets carried a sharp sound of piercing the air, quickly flying toward Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue. Before everyone could see clearly, the parachute devices on the two suddenly detached, and their bodies suddenly accelerated their fall.
“Is it that the tracking bullets hit the parachute devices?” someone couldn’t help but speak out, guessing.
“It’s highly likely! Otherwise, why would they suddenly detach for no reason?” The person next to him immediately echoed, the more he thought about it, the more he felt it was reasonable.
“So that means… they’ve been eliminated and judged dead?”
“No idea. The terminal hasn’t given a notification yet. They should still have one breath left, so they haven’t been eliminated yet.”
On the other side, Mu Sixian stared at the empty sky, his brows locked tight in thought. But after waiting for a full dozen seconds, the terminal still didn’t have a notification that Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue had been eliminated. This was clearly not right.
The field was completely in a mess. Many people were whispering to each other, and suspicions were rising one after another.
What was even more baffling was that the camera could never find the figures of Jiang Chenyan and Shen Shiyue, as if these two had vanished into thin air from the field.
In a corner that no one knew about, a voice sounded with low panting, “Shen Shiyue, you’re pressing on me…”
“Wait…”
Translator’s Note:
A few things to note:
- The “OO” Problem: In the world of ABO, Omega-Omega relationships are considered taboo or at least very difficult because they can’t mark each other. The system is naturally having a fit about this “deviation” from the script.
- Skip/Skiff (飛艇): These are small shuttle-like aircraft used for rapid movement and tactical strikes in the simulation.
- Tracking Bullets: In this sci-fi setting, these are high-tech projectiles that lock onto a target’s thermal or biological signature. Escaping them is usually impossible without high-tech countermeasures.
Hope you guys enjoyed this! I’ll be back with the next update as soon as I can. — Lili
