Chapter 73: Get Out.
The lights weren’t on in the room. Ye Zhile sat by the bed, feeling like he was going crazy. He wasn’t like this before; his personality was mostly gentle, and his liveliness never felt noisy. He was never this irritable, nor would he dwell on pain and conflict for so long. But now, he was being driven mad by his own torment.
Meanwhile, Ruan Chenxin entered the study with the coffee. Ji Shuohan immediately frowned. “I told you not to enter my study.”
Ruan Chenxin stood still, putting on a pitiful act. “I know, but the Madam asked me to bring this.”
Ji Shuohan’s expression softened slightly, but his tone remained cold. “Put it down and leave.”
Ruan Chenxin didn’t dare disobey and hurried out. However, he stood outside the study door and didn’t leave. Listening to the sounds inside, his heart pounded and his hands shook; he didn’t know if the dosage in that cup of coffee was enough.
Back at the dining table, hearing Ji Shuohan talk about the Ji Estate’s banquet, Ruan Chenxin realized that whether he could become a part of that family depended on this cup of coffee.
Not ten minutes later, the study door opened. Ruan Chenxin pretended he had just come upstairs. Seeing Ji Shuohan covered in a violent aura, his cedar pheromones completely out of control, Ruan Chenxin’s legs felt weak, but he still stepped forward. “Brother Shuohan, what’s wrong?”
Ji Shuohan’s temples throbbed incessantly. An nameless fire surged through his body in an instant. He gripped the doorframe and pushed Ruan Chenxin away as he tried to approach. “Get away.”
“Brother Shuohan!” Ruan Chenxin hugged Ji Shuohan from behind, releasing his pheromones. He said tremblingly, “I can help you…”
the sweet, cloying scent of the Omega made Ji Shuohan even more irritable. He turned and grabbed Ruan Chenxin by the throat, gradually increasing the pressure. “Withdraw your pheromones immediately!”
“Ugh…” Ruan Chenxin’s face turned red. The fear of death hit him in an instant, and he finally felt afraid. He shook his head frantically. “I… I was wrong…”
Ji Shuohan threw him aside and strode toward Ye Zhile’s room…
Ye Zhile didn’t know how long he had been sitting by the bed. By the time he snapped out of it, he was about to wash up and sleep. Just then, there was a commotion at the door. His door was locked, and the person turning the handle seemed very urgent, making a lot of noise.
Ye Zhile felt a surge of panic and hurried to open the door. Ji Shuohan stood at the entrance, his eyes dark and his body radiating a violent aura. Ye Zhile took a step back, afraid of him in this state. “What… what’s wrong with you?”
Ji Shuohan took a heavy breath, his body burning hot. He grabbed Ye Zhile’s hand. “That cup of coffee…”
Seeing him like this, Ye Zhile immediately realized what was happening. “I… I’ll go get a doctor for you.”
However, Ji Shuohan pulled him back, pinning him down firmly. His tone carried a hint of disdain. “Isn’t this exactly what you wanted?”
The sentence felt like a dagger in Ye Zhile’s heart, making it hard to breathe. His eyes filled with a layer of mist, but he looked at Ji Shuohan stubbornly. “It wasn’t me…”
Bastard! He actually suspects me of drugging him!
Ji Shuohan gritted his teeth and pulled the person into his arms. His kisses fell. Ye Zhile struggled, filled with fear. “You can’t!”
The strength gap between an Omega and an Enigma was too great. Leaving aside how Ji Shuohan would have been restrained out of consideration for him before, his current condition wasn’t any better. Not to mention a man who didn’t love him was now drugged.
Ye Zhile cried out, “Please, Ji Shuohan!”
He pushed against the domineering, powerful Enigma with both hands. Eventually, his hands were forcefully pinned, the bones in his wrists aching from the pressure. A barrage of kisses fell…
The Omega’s pitiful, stifled sobs acted like an aphrodisiac, instantly igniting Ji Shuohan’s tensed nerves. He felt extremely restless; only by holding the person in his arms and molding them into his own body could he feel at ease.
He seemed to have lost his mind, with no shred of logic left. Despite the Omega’s cries and pleas for mercy, he never stopped.
Ye Zhile’s body felt as if it were being crushed by a weight, unable to take a single breath. The tearing pain made him use his last ounce of strength to scratch a bloody mark on Ji Shuohan.
“High fever for three consecutive days… luckily the temperature dropped a bit today.” Xiao Yuanqing held the thermometer. He looked at Ji Shuohan coldly, then let out a deep sigh and picked up his medical kit. “You guy… forget it.”
With that, Xiao Yuanqing shook his head helplessly and left with his kit.
Ji Shuohan stood by the bed, looking at the Omega who was burning with a blurred consciousness. Even his breath was hot. Ji Shuohan felt as if something was blocked in his chest, unable to go up or down. Even breathing felt heavy with exhaustion.
He was like a lost traveler searching for something in a desolate desert, yet always failing to grasp the key. His mind was a blank.
When Ye Zhile woke up again, it was the fourth day. His eyes were swollen. He stared blankly at the ceiling for a moment before realizing this was his room. He ignored the pain in his body and sat up. Just then, Ji Shuohan entered with a bowl of congee.
Their eyes met. Ye Zhile looked at him with indifference. When Ji Shuohan placed the congee on the nightstand and prepared to feed him, Ye Zhile slapped the bowl of hot congee away.
“Get out.” Ye Zhile’s voice was cracked and painful from the fever, so raspy that he couldn’t speak, producing only a faint breathy sound.
Some of the congee spilled onto Ji Shuohan’s hand. He calmly wiped it off with a tissue, the skin showing red and swollen. After that, he stood up. “I’ll have Xiao Ruo bring another one for you.”
Ji Shuohan left. Ye Zhile leaned against the headboard. Swallowing felt like swallowing knives; the pain made him nauseous, and he leaned over the bed to retch.
“Madam!” Xiao Ruo hurried over, rinsing his mouth with fresh water and patting his back. “Are you alright, Madam?”
Ye Zhile shook his head. “I’m fine. I don’t want to eat; take it away.”
“But you haven’t eaten for days. You’ve had a high fever and been unconscious; you’ve been relying on nutritional supplements,” Xiao Ruo said worriedly.
“It’s fine,” Ye Zhile said. “I’ll eat when I’m hungry.”
“Yes.” Hearing this, Xiao Ruo had no choice but to take it back down.
Ye Zhile stayed in his room the whole day. His body hadn’t recovered, and he didn’t want to go anywhere. He only wanted to sleep.
Later in the evening, after he had finished dinner and was about to rest, he suddenly heard a child’s heart-wrenching cry. Ye Zhile was startled and immediately rolled out of bed, running toward Dudu’s nursery without even putting on shoes.
“Wa-ah…” Dudu was crying so hard he couldn’t catch his breath. Ye Zhile rushed in and saw Ruan Chenxin standing aside. Looking at the swelling bump on Dudu’s forehead, he was heartbroken. “What happened?!”
“Dudu fell off the bed,” the nanny said. “Mr. Ruan, I told you, Dudu can roll over. You can’t put him on the big bed, or he’ll fall…”
Ruan Chenxin said guiltily, “I didn’t mean to…”
Translator’s Note: “Get out” (滾 – Gǔn) is a very harsh way to tell someone to leave in Chinese. The drug incident is a major turning point. Ji Shuohan is acting on instinct rather than love, which is why Lele is so hurt. Ruan Chenxin’s negligence with the baby is the final straw!
