Chapter 99: Picking Furniture
Lin Huaizhi’s face turned the red of a Chongqing extra-spicy hotpot base.
Huo Chen would occasionally say some crude words; of course, that was usually in bed. Right now, in broad daylight, he didn’t show the slightest concealment or composure, directly engaging in “yellow talk.”
Moreover, the man’s deliberately lowered voice was incredibly sexy. Lin Huaizhi felt his legs go weak just hearing it.
“Alright…”
Seeing that this kiss was about to escalate further, Lin Huaizhi hurriedly pressed against Huo Chen’s shoulders.
Both were breathing heavily. The man’s eyes were filled with the displeasure of having a good thing interrupted. This look of a child being deprived of a beloved object made Lin Huaizhi unable to stop himself from laughing.
He bumped his forehead against Huo Chen’s.
“Aren’t we supposed to be moving? If we really engage in ‘daytime debauchery’ like Yun Ziling said, I’m afraid we won’t be able to move to your place even by tomorrow.”
The man stared at the youth’s reddened lips for a good while before standing up reluctantly.
He didn’t forget to give the youth a pull up.
Moving is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task.
Because Lin Huaizhi thought there weren’t many things, he hadn’t called a moving company. It wasn’t until they finished packing in the afternoon and looked at the several large boxes in the living room that he felt he had made a mistake.
Huo Chen stood behind him without speaking, though he was already thinking about where the things in those boxes should be placed.
Lin Huaizhi was also thinking.
After a long while, Lin Huaizhi suddenly turned around. “I don’t want them.”
Huo Chen understood what he meant and looked at all the boxes on the floor. “You don’t want any of them?”
An ordinary person facing this situation would probably flip the table. You spend more than half a day packing several boxes of things, and just when they need to be moved down, you say you don’t want them?
But Huo Chen’s emotional stability was terrifying.
Upon hearing Lin Huaizhi say he didn’t want any of them, he could actually still ask—”Then do you want me to take these out and put them back in their original places?”
Those who can make a name for themselves in business basically have strong mental endurance and extraordinary emotional control.
Lin Huaizhi considered himself capable of controlling his emotions, but facing things that had been packed for so long that were now unwanted—even though it was his own decision—to say he wasn’t the least bit frustrated would be a lie.
Yet Huo Chen’s expression didn’t even change.
He could even ask if he wanted them put back.
Lin Huaizhi gave Huo Chen a thumbs up. “If I have to say it—the fact that you could build such a big business, you truly deserve it.”
In the end, those boxes weren’t unpacked.
Huo Chen didn’t mind, but Lin Huaizhi really didn’t want to pack them again. He said it was fine to just leave them as they were; they could even keep out the dust.
Huo Chen, of course, went along with him.
Lin Huaizhi wasn’t deliberately looking for trouble; he just suddenly felt that packing these things wasn’t as good as going to buy new ones with Huo Chen.
And buying new things meant they could buy “couple sets,” directly filling the atmosphere of living together.
The two went first to pick out furniture.
Sofas and such could be looked at later; the first thing that had to be chosen was a bed.
Furniture section.
Lin Huaizhi took a fancy to a large two-meter by two-meter bed. He even went up and rolled around on it, then looked at Huo Chen. “This one is okay. It’s not too soft and not too hard. It’s very suitable for us.”
As he spoke, he moved aside.
“You come and try?”
Huo Chen didn’t move. Even though he had already determined to break free from his parents’ control, the strict family education he had received since childhood made it impossible for him to perform such an act as rolling on a bed in public.
But Lin Huaizhi’s invitation was earnest.
He beckoned to Huo Chen. “Come on. If you don’t try it, how will you know if the bed is good or if it’s suitable for us to ‘toss and turn’ on?”
Lin Huaizhi spoke bluntly.
As soon as the words “toss and turn” came out, some vivid scenes surfaced in Huo Chen’s mind.
his throat was dry and itchy. After an involuntary gulp, he actually took a step forward and sat down beside Lin Huaizhi.
The influence of his original family was great. Even though Huo Chen was powerful now, some of his habits still reminded him of his unbearable past at all times.
Because even at this moment, he only sat down, rather than lying down.
He didn’t feel heartache.
He just felt weary of such a situation.
“What can you feel just by sitting? Lie down for a bit.” Lin Huaizhi grabbed Huo Chen’s arm and pulled the man directly down onto the bed.
The man’s weight falling caused a slight bounce. When his vision stabilized, the first thing that came into view was that face of the youth with its bright smile.
“How does it feel?”
“Is it quite good?”
Huo Chen looked at the youth lying beside him, his heart feeling both swollen and full. The past could not be extinguished, nor could it disappear into thin air. But perhaps—perhaps Lin Huaizhi could bring him better and deeper happiness, thereby overriding those memories that lacked dignity and freedom.
He could also step out of that line his parents had drawn when he was a child, a line that had already disappeared yet still existed in his heart.
To be the free version of himself.
To go and welcome the future that belonged to him and Lin Huaizhi.
Huo Chen rolled once on that sample bed, rolling until he was forehead-to-forehead with Lin Huaizhi, before saying, “Mm, not bad. It should be enough for us to ‘toss and turn’ on.”
The man’s voice carried visible tenderness.
So did those eyes.
Lin Huaizhi loved his cold and ruthless look, and he also loved his look of bowing his head for love. Of course, regardless of which Huo Chen it was, he loved them both the same.
Because what mattered wasn’t what kind of Huo Chen he was.
But that he was Huo Chen.
Breaths mingled, and Lin Huaizhi’s heart was also thumping. He swallowed, quickly “stole a fragrance” from Huo Chen’s lips, then leaped up and shouted to the guide: “We’ll take this one!”
The guide was a young lady.
As luck would have it, she was also a fan who had followed This is Love. Even more coincidentally, she was a “Solo Fan” of Lin Huaizhi.
What is a “Solo Fan”?
That’s the kind of fan who says, “Let me take away my brother Lin Huaizhi, we aren’t ‘scheduling’ with Huo Chen, you get back to wherever you came from.”
She really hadn’t understood before.
She had also been very angry.
Why was it that Lin Huaizhi had taken a fancy to Huo Chen, and Huo Chen was not good to Lin Huaizhi at all? Lin Huaizhi had been so proactive, but when Lin Huaizhi had a conflict with Fang Mo, he didn’t even help Lin Huaizhi speak.
Something about “mouths are on other people, you can’t control them, but you can control your own emotions.”
Pah!
Anyway, she just couldn’t stand Huo Chen, and she also felt that Huo Chen deserved to have no wife, and deserved to have to go through a “Crematorium to Win Back the Wife” later on.
But that was all from Lin Huaizhi’s perspective.
Standing from Huo Chen’s perspective?
Someone you didn’t know at all comes up and says they fell in love at first sight, and even says they want to pursue you. And you’ve always been the type that isn’t liked by others and is feared by them.
In this kind of situation, it would be strange not to suspect if the other person had some ulterior motive.
Not to mention that Huo Chen had really been tolerant enough toward Lin Huaizhi.
Those things Lin Huaizhi had done to him—the forced kisses and forced hugs—every single one could be called sexual harassment, and he could have called the police to arrest Lin Huaizhi.
As for his attitude toward Lin Huaizhi—he originally had no thoughts about Lin Huaizhi, so what was wrong with that attitude?
Furthermore, it was Lin Huaizhi pursuing him. When pursuing someone, shouldn’t you have to pay a greater price?
And in the end, Huo Chen also clearly changed bit by bit, becoming someone who would care about Lin Huaizhi’s feelings, and was exceptionally indulgent toward Lin Huaizhi, even protecting him.
When did she start becoming a “CP Fan”?
It was when Huo Chen said to Lin Huaizhi—
“Prove it to me.”
“Prove that you like me as you say you do, prove that you cannot do without me. If you can prove it, then I will be with you.”
Oh my god!
When an ordinary person meets that kind of persistent pursuer, would they say “prove your love to me”? Not swearing at them or saying malicious words would already be considered high quality. Yet Huo Chen said he wanted to see Lin Huaizhi’s love!
What does this show?
It shows that Huo Chen was fundamentally moved by Lin Huaizhi, and had already started to care about him from the bottom of his heart!
Even if Huo Chen himself didn’t realize it!
The later episodes of the romance show proved this point even more. Especially in the final episode, Huo Chen was no longer resistant to Lin Huaizhi’s closeness and would even hold Lin Huaizhi while playing games.
The distance between the two had long since exceeded the “safety distance.” That sticky atmosphere was almost no different from Al and Dai Keqing.
It was worth mentioning that Al and Dai Keqing had officially announced their relationship as soon as the last episode ended.
So she firmly believed!
Lin Huaizhi and Huo Chen were definitely dating too!
Later, she also saw many things on the internet, like Chu Xiaoran being blacklisted—that dog of a thing deserved to be blacklisted! And that Huo Chen was actually the head of the Huo family, the person in power at the Huo Group, and that he had broken ties with his family for Lin Huaizhi, blabla.
Heavens!
This was even better to ship!
The one in power bowing his head for love—what kind of high-quality “immortal dish” was this!
Of course, the news on the internet was half-true and half-false. It might not be true, and maybe even the two being together was just something she had imagined.
But Huo Chen came forward.
He admitted his relationship with Lin Huaizhi in front of the camera.
So in the end, Lin Huaizhi still caught up to Huo Chen, caught up to this man who had been cold and ruthless and looked very difficult to deal with at the start.
But to say how much she actually shipped this pair—that was actually false.
She just admired Lin Huaizhi’s courage.
She also wanted to see Lin Huaizhi’s result.
She had also encountered difficulties and wanted to give up. But Lin Huaizhi’s forward momentum moved her. She thought that as long as Lin Huaizhi could catch up to Huo Chen, catch up to that man who at a glance had no interest in love and was very difficult to provoke, then she would continue to persist.
In the end, Lin Huaizhi’s dream came true.
And she also intended to grit her teeth; even if it was very hard, she would continue her cancer treatment.
Perhaps her mindset had changed, or perhaps she had found hope. In these few months, her health was truly improving.
Now that she really saw Lin Huaizhi and Huo Chen together to pick out furniture, it was clear they were living a good life together.
With this thought, the guide lady showed a bright smile.
“Alright, please leave an address, you two. Our staff will deliver the goods to your door later.”
“Finally, I wish you both good health and happiness.”
Lin Huaizhi was stunned for a moment, then also smiled and replied, “I also wish you good health and happiness.”
