Chapter 35: Do You Want to Practice with Me?
Why did the question suddenly change?
Ye Ran pursed his lips. Would he be afraid of Chi Yuheng kissing him? Absolutely not.
If Chi Yuheng dared, he would definitely give him two solid punches. Otherwise, wouldn’t his recent days of fitness training have been in vain?
Despite his thoughts, Ye Ran still shuffled over step by step, reducing the distance between him and Chi Yuheng from three meters to just an arm’s length.
Once he stood still, he repeated those three words, “You scared me.”
“I was wrong.” Chi Yuheng looked into his eyes and spoke with extreme sincerity.
The other party’s sudden admission of fault caught Ye Ran off guard again; how was he supposed to keep the upper hand now?
Fortunately, he reacted quickly and had a flash of inspiration. “It’s good that you know you’re wrong. I forgive you.”
Ye Ran stood a bit straighter, holding his head high as if to say, Look at how magnanimous I am.
Chi Yuheng also looked up, a handsome curve hooking the corner of his mouth. He seemed to be smiling, but in Ye Ran’s eyes, it felt somewhat dangerous.
“Since I’ve apologized, let’s settle the score.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Chi Yuheng reached out and grabbed Ye Ran’s arm. Without giving him time to react, he pulled him into his embrace. The person who had been standing just a second ago was pressed onto his lap in a single motion.
Butt up, face down.
Ye Ran’s brain went “buzz,” and his face turned as red as a cooked shrimp, blood rushing straight to his head.
“Chi Yuheng, you bastard! Why aren’t you following the script?!”
Chi Yuheng’s hand was pressed against his back. He lowered his eyes to look at the head tilted back on his lap and asked, “What script?”
Ye Ran shouted at the top of his lungs, “Shouldn’t you say, ‘It’s okay, I’ll let you off if you know your mistake and change’?!”
Chi Yuheng spoke indifferently, “I admit, I am not as magnanimous as Young Master Ye.”
“What would have happened if you were taken away by Fang Yuan today?”
“Or if he drugged your drink? You wouldn’t even know where you’d be right now. Ye Ran, can’t you just wait for me? Wait for me to come back…”
After being lectured by Chi Yuheng, Ye Ran’s head, which had been tilted back like a shrimp, slumped down.
He admitted that he had indeed taken a gamble and was showing off a bit. That arrogant and rebellious heart of his had been racing, especially after seeing Fang Yuan’s gang.
He felt they were just a bunch of small fry he could handle. However, he hadn’t anticipated that things would nearly end in a bloody scuffle during the group fight at the end.
Slap.
A sudden sting snapped his thoughts back.
Chi Yuheng’s voice came from above again. “Since you could tell Xin Yu, why couldn’t you just call and tell me directly? What if Xin Yu was brainless and couldn’t understand what you meant?”
He was originally in pain and embarrassed, but hearing Chi Yuheng say this, Ye Ran unexpectedly wanted to laugh.
“Xin Yu couldn’t have been your assistant for so long if he were brainless. Anyone you’ve taken a liking to must have a brain.”
In less than a second, he was lectured again.
Ye Ran’s volume dropped by half, and both his hands tightly gripped Chi Yuheng’s trouser legs.
“Also, is my study reserved for you to watch horror movies?”
Ye Ran was unconvinced by this. A study was meant for people to use; whether it was for work or watching movies, both were fine. Why must its function be so strictly divided?
But he was afraid of getting another beating if he spoke up.
The words at the tip of his tongue changed to, “Then I won’t watch horror movies anymore. I’ll watch whatever kind of ‘flick’ you say.”
Chi Yuheng was angered into a laugh. Hearing him use the word ‘flick’ reminded him of the book Ye Ran had been holding just now. He wondered if his little young master had truly developed feelings for him.
If not, why would he look for such a book to read?
At this thought, he asked tentatively, “Did you find that book on the desk yourself?”
Ye Ran only remembered that he had grabbed a book from the shelf at random. He didn’t even know what book he had taken and hadn’t spared it a single glance; later, when he was watching the horror movie, he had used it purely to block his eyes.
It was just a book. Ye Ran answered casually, “I found it. What’s wrong? You have so many books in your study, can’t I just take one to look at? Why are you so stingy?”
Chi Yuheng picked up the book from the desk and brought it before Ye Ran’s eyes. The person who had been rambling incessantly instantly froze.
For a moment, the study became so quiet that a pin drop could be heard.
Ye Ran’s eyes widened to the extreme, his pupils filled with that row of scorching words. It felt as if a smoke bomb had been tossed into his brain.
This was the book he had taken?!
While his brain was still in a daze, the corners of Chi Yuheng’s mouth hooked into a smile. He raised an eyebrow. “So, does Young Master Ye want to research my psychology, or do you want to practice with me?”
“I didn’t even… who wants to practice with you…”
Ye Ran’s voice changed its pitch. “I haven’t even looked at it—no, I didn’t read it! I just grabbed it at random. Who knew it would be this kind of book?”
Thinking about it, he felt something was wrong. “Chi Yuheng, you’re the one who’s weird for having this kind of book in your study!”
Chi Yuheng’s expression remained calm. “My study is similar to the city library; it naturally has all sorts of books. It’s normal for such a book to appear here.”
Therefore, it was Ye Ran, who had picked this book, who was abnormal.
Out of so many normal books, he just happened to grab such an abnormal one at random.
Ye Ran: “…”
He couldn’t explain himself anymore.
He wailed, “I just happen to like men. Is it not okay to want to research the psychology?”
Chi Yuheng’s eyes narrowed, his tone carrying no warmth. “Who do you like?”
“Who I like is none of your bu—” Feeling the pressure of the hand on him increase slightly, Ye Ran changed his words. “What does it have to do with you?”
“Of course it has to do with me.” Chi Yuheng said seriously, “I raised you. I naturally have to check the person you like. We can’t just let our family’s little young master be married off like that.”
Ye Ran’s mouth twitched. “Although I don’t have a boyfriend yet, how do you know I’ll be ‘marrying out’ and not ‘taking a wife’?”
The more he spoke, the more energized Ye Ran became. “When the time comes, I’ll find someone younger than me, well-behaved, and obedient, and marry them into the family.”
The man above remained silent for a few seconds before speaking. “I suggest you find someone older than you.”
Ye Ran: “Why?”
Chi Yuheng’s hand, which was resting on his back, moved forward slowly, finally stopping at the back of Ye Ran’s neck. His fingertips lightly brushed the skin behind his neck, the waves of itchiness making Ye Ran instinctively shrink his neck.
“You’re still a baby of over two hundred months yourself. Who could you possibly suppress? Finding someone older is different; a steady personality can take care of you.”
“More importantly, which is better: others spending your money, or you spending your husband’s money?”
Whether it was because his neck was being pinched or because he truly felt Chi Yuheng’s words made sense, Ye Ran’s stubborn head gave a light nod.
Chi Yuheng let out a low chuckle. The laughter was muffled in his throat, carrying an indescribable meaning.
Ultimately, Ye Ran walked out of the study grimacing, his hand behind him incessantly rubbing his backside.
How could anyone settle a score like this? His back hurt, and his body was itchy; there wasn’t a single spot that wasn’t suffering.
As he walked, he habitually wandered into Chi Yuheng’s room.
Realizing this, Ye Ran’s footsteps paused. “Am I sick? Why did I come to this bastard’s room?”
