Chapter 110: Everything is Arranged
“Is it good?”
Watching the small woman drink the milky-white fish soup from his spoon, a faint smile appeared on Zhong He’s lips.
Li Xuanyue glanced at him and nodded. “Not bad!”
She wasn’t just being polite; she meant it. The fish soup Zhong He made was truly delicious—fresh and flavorful, comparable to the chefs in the Phoenix Clan.
“Then Gongzhu should drink more.”
Zhong He wanted to continue feeding her, but her hand stopped him.
“This Bengong will do it herself,” Li Xuanyue said guiltily. She couldn’t comfortably let someone serve her like that. She had hands and feet. Zhong He treating her this way made her feel uneasy.
Zhong He’s gaze was soft. He didn’t stop her and generously handed her the spoon. Li Xuanyue breathed a sigh of relief and finished the bowl in less than a few minutes.
Seeing this, Yinxin quickly stepped forward to help her wash up. However, Zhong He stopped her.
“I will do it.”
Li Xuanyue wanted to refuse, but seeing his firm expression, she could only tell Yinxin to wait outside. By the time everything was done and Li Xuanyue emerged from the bedchamber, half an hour had passed.
“Zhong Shijun, you should go back to the Wutong Palace to look after Yuemu for now.”
Seeing him still staring at her, Li Xuanyue felt strange and tried to dismiss him. “This Bengong has other matters to attend to and won’t be joining you.”
Openly issuing a dismissal to Zhong He like this, Li Xuanyue was truly a first of her kind. Zhong He wasn’t annoyed. Instead, he smiled at her.
“Very well. Then may Gongzhu be careful in all things.”
“Mm-hmm!”
Li Xuanyue didn’t dare look into his eyes and could only nod randomly. After parting from Zhong He, she wandered around with Yinxin. She didn’t expect to end up in the Peach Orchard.
By this time, the peach blossoms were no longer as blooming as before. They were scattered here and there. Occasionally, a breeze would blow, causing the petals to fall to the ground.
“Gongzhu, the weather is about to change.”
Beside her, Yinxin saw the dark, heavy sky and knew it was going to rain, so she reminded her. Li Xuanyue sensed it too. The day was not as refreshing as usual; instead, there was a sense of stifling heat.
“Yinxin, what do you think people live for?”
Li Xuanyue was no fool. From the moment Hua Shan told her that Hua Sang had left the Phoenix Clan, doubt had lingered in her heart. The reason she didn’t go to Li Feng to confirm it was that she feared once things were publicized, it would be detrimental to Hua Shan.
He was her Fujun. In both her previous life and this one, his fatherly love had been unconditional. Li Xuanyue could not bring herself to “betray her kin for the sake of justice.” But everything she had investigated told her that Hua Shan was not simple.
Yinxin was stunned by the question.
“What is wrong, Gongzhu?” she asked curiously. “Why the sudden sentimentality?”
“Have you encountered some difficulty?”
Li Xuanyue thinned her lips. “What difficulty could there be? I just felt something looking at these peach trees.”
“Tell me, these trees compete for beauty only to bear fruit in the end.”
“What about people? After all the calculations, what do you think the final outcome will be?”
These ambiguous words left Yinxin confused. “Who is Gongzhu talking about?”
Could someone have upset her without Yinxin knowing? Looking at Yinxin’s puzzled face, Li Xuanyue didn’t expect her to understand.
“How are the people you sent out these past two days?” she asked calmly. “Did they find anything?”
Those following Xiao Han usually brought her some surprises. She wondered if the people they placed near the Central Harmony Palace would have any other harvests.
Seeing that Li Xuanyue didn’t respond to her previous words, Yinxin didn’t dare press further and immediately turned serious. “They will return tonight. By then, Gongzhu should know the situation.”
“Mm.” Li Xuanyue gave a low response. She trusted Yinxin’s handling of matters.
However, when night fell and Li Xuanyue received the news from her scouts, she still couldn’t help but feel her composure crumble. Yinxin didn’t see the contents of the letter and couldn’t guess what happened. But seeing Li Xuanyue’s darkened expression, she knew the contents were not simple.
“What is it, Gongzhu?” Yinxin asked worriedly.
“Yinxin, tell me… if Fujun and my Uncle truly had a good relationship for hundreds of years, why did they never contact each other until suddenly now?”
“Why is he unwilling to let this Bengong meet Uncle?”
Li Xuanyue had just confirmed from the secret report that Hua Sang was still within the Phoenix Clan. Why Hua Shan had lied to her was the biggest mystery in her heart. Was there a grudge between him and Hua Sang?
Hearing this, Yinxin guessed some of the contents. “Does Gongzhu mean that the Junhou lied to you?”
Li Xuanyue remained silent. From the letter, Hua Shan had indeed lied. But in her view, it wasn’t just a lie. There must be a truth she didn’t know. Otherwise, why would Li Qinghe disappear while Zhao Guijun was reported to have committed suicide?
“Gongzhu, what should we do next?”
Yinxin had been with her since childhood and was naturally loyal. Seeing her so troubled, she wanted to help clear up the truth.
“Stay still for now,” Li Xuanyue instructed.
It wasn’t easy for their people to find this much information. If they continued, they might disappear just like the previous two waves she sent out.
“In two days, this Bengong will personally investigate the Xihe Palace at night.”
She wanted to see what kind of scheme her Fujun was brewing. Hua Shan did not yet know of her plan. Like a grandmaster of a chess game, he was currently studying his next move.
“Master, everything is arranged.”
Xiao Ce stood before him, speaking respectfully. “The Second Princess and Zhao Guijun have been sent out of the Phoenix Clan.”
