Chapter 84: Like Somethingās Going to Explode
Actually, Cheng Ge felt a bit guilty saying those words because they were said to Wen Ling. He wanted Wen Ling to know the importance of being alive and to cherish his life, but Cheng Ge himself didn’t cherish his life much.
When he first transmigrated, if it hadn’t been for Wen Lingās intimidation about cutting him piece by piece, he might have really thought of a way to end himself.
Cheng Ge himself couldn’t do it, but he just wanted Wen Ling to care about his own life and not do those impulsive things. That might be very overbearing and unreasonable, but Cheng Ge still did it. If it was unreasonable, then so be it.
The two pressed their foreheads together for a while. Cheng Ge said again: “Actually, there’s another thing I’m a bit angry about.”
Wen Ling had mostly recovered by now. His large, watery eyes looked at Cheng Ge, his brows very slightly furrowed. Cheng Ge wanted to laugh seeing Wen Lingās expression.
Wen Ling was probably wondering: Why does Cheng Ge have so much anger? How can Cheng Ge be so capable of getting angry?
“I’m quite petty,” Cheng Ge said jokingly.
Wen Ling also replied: “Okay then. But I don’t seem to have done anything wrong anymore.”
“It can’t be counted as you doing something wrong. It counts as me being petty,” Cheng Ge said with a smile.
“I’m a bit angry that you didn’t tell me you had a fever.”
“Sometimes you always love to keep things inside.”
Wen Ling blinked, being very serious: “I did say it.”
“When?”
“I said I wanted to eat something light. And then when you saw me all red, you should have known I had a fever.”
“What ‘all red’?” He wouldn’t argue about eating something light, but what the hell was “all red”?
“I mean my whole person was very red. Didn’t you say I turn red as soon as I have a fever?”
Cheng Ge and Wen Ling locked eyes for several seconds. Finally, as if he had no other choice, he pressed his head against Wen Lingās shoulder and laughed. Finally, he let out a very soft exclamation.
“Ah…”
“How do you have so many little thoughts?”
“Do you want me to guess? To test me?” Cheng Ge understood this behavior of Wen Lingās as Wen Ling wanting to play with him, similar to “find the difference.”
Wen Ling himself didn’t understand why he did that. But if Cheng Ge saw him all red, then touched his forehead and told him with a frown that he had a fever, then kept nagging him nearby about not being in the wind and needing to eat light, and asking if he had taken medicine and if he hadn’t covered himself properly with the quiltāthen Wen Ling would be very happy. He would feel a fuzzy sensation scratching his heart.
“Maybe… yes.”
“If you like it that way, it’s fine. But the premise is that you have to know what’s going on yourself. I’m very careless and might not discover it. If I don’t discover it, will you never say anything? I don’t want you to have a fever for so long. It’s very uncomfortable, right?”
Wen Ling nodded. “But you can always discover it.”
When Wen Ling had a fever, his expression would look a bit sad, his eyes clouded with a layer of crystal-clear water. He was used to drooping his eyelids, and the corners of his eyes, the tip of his nose, and his cheeks would all be flushed pink from being stuffy. His speech would become more drawn-out and sticky, and he would like to press his body against Cheng Ge, as if wanting Cheng Ge to feel his scalding body temperature and tell Cheng Ge he had a fever again.
Cheng Ge could keenly perceive every single detail among these, but he just feared the “what if.”
Cheng Geās forehead bobbed against Wen Lingās shoulder. He said slowly: “I almost didn’t discover it today.”
Wen Lingās pupils moved back and forth, and he didn’t reply.
At the time, Cheng Ge was truly scaredāscared of Wen Ling dying from jumping into the river and scared of Wen Ling dying from the fever.
“In short, you have to know what’s going on yourself.”
“Oh.”
“Did you really take that in?” Cheng Geās tone became a bit more serious, but his head was buried in Wen Lingās neck and shoulder, even unconsciously nuzzling a bit.
While listening to Cheng Geās words, Wen Ling felt Cheng Geās movements. He especially, especially liked the current Cheng Ge. He immediately said: “Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.”
Cheng Ge raised his head and looked at Wen Ling. “Everything else is my fault. You can do whatever you want. But these two points I just mentionedāyou have to take them to heart, okay?”
“Okay,” Wen Ling nodded.
Then the two were quiet for a bit. Wen Ling suddenly raised a hand and placed it on the back of Cheng Geās neck, pulling him toward his shoulder. “Cheng Ge, lean on me for a bit more.”
“Hmm?”
Wen Ling pressed the back of Cheng Geās head. “Lean for a bit more.”
Cheng Ge still wasn’t used to the feeling of having his head petted. A tingling and itchy sensation spread throughout his body, but he wasn’t repulsed by it either.
Even though he didn’t understand what Wen Ling was trying to do, his heart still secretly felt aggrieved on Wen Lingās behalf. Naturally, he followed Wen Ling in everything.
Thus, Cheng Ge took the opportunity to find a comfortable spot to lean against Wen Lingās shoulder, closing his eyes.
Being close, he could still smell the very light fragrance on Wen Lingās body. Cheng Ge subconsciously sniffed. It still smelled very good. The feeling of leaning like this was a bit hypnotic.
Wen Ling felt like he had drifted into the clouds. He was a small white cloud. His nose was filled only with Cheng Geās clean and refreshing mint fragrance. Cheng Geās breath would hit his neck, and his lashes would gently prick his shoulderāitchy and tingly. His whole person felt so comfortable. He felt a fuzzy sensation scratching his heart.
Cheng Ge just wanted to lean for a bit. But whether it was because he was too tired today or because it was too comfortable right now, he didn’t expect to fall into a semi-conscious state while leaning. He slept for ten or twenty minutes. When he was completely awake, every cell in his body was relaxed.
The arms Cheng Ge had around Wen Ling unconsciously tightened. He rubbed his face against Wen Lingās shoulder a few times. The touch through the fabric of the clothes was also warm and soft. He suddenly seemed to understand why Wen Ling liked hugging or being hugged while sleeping so muchāit was too fucking comfortable…
Wen Ling was different. He also felt comfortable now, but he felt like he was about to lose control. His cells were as if running wild, all wanting to rush onto Cheng Ge. That subconscious hug and the intimate nuzzling practically made Wen Lingās head spin.
That wasn’t something Cheng Ge would normally do. But Cheng Ge had done it to him. He especially liked this version of Cheng Ge. His heart began to pound wildly.
Cheng Ge was startled by the heartbeat coming from beside his ear. He touched Wen Lingās chest. “Hey, hey, are you okay? Your heart is beating so fast.”
Wen Ling looked down at the hand Cheng Ge had placed on his chest. It was a bit hot. Then he looked at Cheng Geās brows and eyes. His lashes were trembling a bit. “I… I feel a bit dizzy.”
“Dizzy? Fever again?” Cheng Ge was a bit anxious, using the back of his hand to test the temperature of Wen Lingās forehead for a while, then touching Wen Lingās face. But Wen Lingās body temperature was very normal.
“No fever,” Cheng Ge said. He felt strangeāeverything was fine. “How are you dizzy? Pain or dizziness? Is it very uncomfortable?”
Wen Ling kept being touched all over by Cheng Ge. He blinked many times. “Just… the kind of dizziness where your head is spinning. Itās not uncomfortable.”
“I feel like Iām about to fly.”
“Fly?” Cheng Ge was completely confused and at a loss, unable to understand Wen Lingās description. A soul out of body?
“Floaty?” Wen Ling asked.
Cheng Ge observed Wen Ling from top to bottom. What he could be sure of was that nothing was wrong with his body. It was probably his mind thinking about various thingsānot a big problem.
Cheng Ge wanted to laugh a bit, and indeed did. Wen Lingās current emotion should be a mix of excitement and helplessness, as if over-excited. “How am I supposed to know about you?”
Wen Ling had always thought Cheng Ge looked very good when he smiled, and now he looked even better. He let out a very light “Mgh,” hugged Cheng Ge tightly, and burrowed his head left and right into Cheng Geās arms. “It feels like something is going to explode.”
To someone who didn’t know better, it would sound like he was saying a bomb was going to explode, which was why he was burrowing into Cheng Geās arms in fear.
But Cheng Ge knew Wen Ling was saying he himself was going to explode. This guyās system of expressive vocabulary had always been quite magical.
Cheng Ge felt itchy from Wen Lingās hair pricking him. “Stop burrowing. You’re going to explode on me, Xiao Wen.”
