Chapter 78: Don’t Ignore Me
When the Omega first got into the car, he still had the strength to let out pained whimpers. His head hung limply to the side, his face deathly pale. Cold sweat poured from his forehead, and his bangs were soaked, clinging limply to his perspiring face.
Even though he was angry, seeing the little guy being tortured by illness made Ye Chiyu feel incredibly heart-wrenched. He silently pushed the car’s speed to the limit.
“Tangtang, hang in there. We’ll be at the hospital soon.”
His voice wasn’t loud, and his hands on the steering wheel trembled slightly.
But Su Tang couldn’t hear what the Alpha was saying to him. The sounds from the outside were as blurry as if they were separated by a cover. His stomach felt scorched and burning hot, and his consciousness flickered in and out.
The already fragile organ convulsed even more violently under the Omega’s “violent” external suppression. Su Tang let out an involuntary muffled groan, clutching his frantically jumping stomach and struggling in his seat.
To say he was struggling was an overstatement; the Omega was already exhausted. To Ye Chiyu, Su Tang only made small, jerking movements. He tilted his head, opened his mouth, and began to dry-heave again.
Having already vomited a fierce round earlier, Su Tang naturally couldn’t vomit anything at first. Then, Su Tang’s entire body went limp, and he actually vomited up a mouthful of blood.
The piercing bright red dripped from the corner of his mouth onto his white loungewear pants. Ye Chiyu’s expression turned grim. No matter how he called Su Tang, he couldn’t wake him up.
Dammit!
Seeing the Omega had lost consciousness, Ye Chiyu cursed under his breath and raced all the way.
The hospital.
“Acute flare-up of chronic gastritis, severe gastric spasm combined with slight gastric hemorrhage.”
After the emergency doctor quickly diagnosed him and had the nurse directly give Su Tang a static injection of an antispasmodic, Su Tang was transferred to a ward to continue with other intravenous drips.
The doctor looked at the Alpha, who was keeping watch by the Omega’s bedside with a desolate expression, and lamented: “Fortunately you sent him early. Gastric hemorrhage can be major or minor. If you had come any later and the bleeding amount was large, it would have had an irreversible impact on the body.”
Ye Chiyu wasn’t in the mood and only gave a slight nod.
“Mm.”
The doctor pushed up his glasses and continued to instruct.
“The kid is young and has poor self-control. Patients with chronic gastritis need long-term conditioning and dietary restrictions. You’re his Alpha, right? You look a bit older than him; you should watch over him more. If this illness flares up every few days, his body won’t be able to take it.”
Ye Chiyu gave an “Mm.” “I understand. Thank you, Doctor.”
After the doctor finished his instructions and left the ward, Ye Chiyu stared at the pale Omega lying on the hospital bed, his heart filled with complex emotions.
Probably because of the IV, the little guy’s left hand was very cold. Ye Chiyu used his own hand to loosely hold Su Tang’s hand, which still wore the ring Su Tang had given him on his birthday.
Likely because this flare-up had consumed all his physical strength, Su Tang showed no signs of waking up even after the IV drip was finished. Ye Chiyu then notified Su Bing, Su Tang’s father, and Jiang Cha of Su Tang’s hospitalization.
He had asked the doctor just now; the Omega’s condition wasn’t serious. Once he woke up, he could be discharged in three or four days without delaying any work.
When Su Bing heard Su Tang’s stomach ailment had flared up again, she was so scared she directly canceled her date with her best friend. Although Ye Chiyu said Su Tang was fine, she still drove her black SUV all the way to the hospital.
Fearing the news of Su Tang’s hospitalization would leak out, Ye Chiyu had directly booked an entire floor of VIP private wards. When Su Bing reached the twenty-third floor, her identity was checked once before she was allowed in to visit.
She didn’t enter the ward immediately when she reached the door. Instead, she looked through the glass on the door at Ye Chiyu staring blankly at her silly brother. She recalled herself from a few years ago and let out a soft sigh.
In her life, Su Bing’s greatest fear was the people she cared about getting sick. Last time, Su Tang had truly scared her to death. This time, it was Ye Chiyu who sent her brother to the hospital; she guessed the scene he saw was probably similar to what she had seen back then.
Without standing at the door for too long, Su Bing knocked politely and pushed the door open. Ye Chiyu squeezed out a somewhat difficult smile and signaled for her to sit.
“How did this happen again?”
Su Bing stared at Su Tang, whose brow was still not relaxed even in sleep. Her eyes were full of heartache.
“I didn’t watch him well,” Ye Chiyu spoke in a low voice, stroking Su Tang’s pale little face with a hint of helplessness. “If I had known, I would have cleared out all the things he couldn’t eat from the house.”
“Ice cream again?”
Ye Chiyu nodded.
When Su Tang was in emergency, he had Old Fu go to the house to check. Sure enough, more than half a tub of ice cream was missing from the refrigerator. It was a guess that he couldn’t resist sneaking some, and eating too much cold food at once triggered the acute gastritis.
Su Bing frowned, suddenly feeling both angry and amused.
“Forget it. The kid did it to himself. He’s such a big person now; even if it wasn’t in the house, he would have gone and bought it himself if he was craving it. He just doesn’t learn.”
Su Bing scolded for a few sentences before suddenly letting out another sigh. A bit of softness rarely appeared in her usually tough expression.
“However, this silly boy has also been quite able to endure. Since he was discharged in his senior year, he never ate an entire ice cream again, and he rarely even drank cold drinks. For a boy who loves sweets that much, it’s also been hard on him.”
Ye Chiyu didn’t speak. The scene of Su Tang clutching his stomach and crying in pain in his car while vomiting blood was still vivid in his mind. He had been guarding here for half a day, and as soon as he closed his eyes, it was that terrifying scene of the Omega looking as fragile as if he would leave him at any moment.
Ye Chiyu was not feeling well, as Su Bing knew better than anyone. She opened her mouth but didn’t say any words of comfort.
After a long while, Su Bing dryly squeezed out a sentence: “You’ve been guarding Tangtang here this whole time. Have you eaten lunch?”
Ye Chiyu shook his head to indicate he wasn’t hungry. Su Bing frowned and spoke: “I just finished talking about him, and now look at you. If you don’t take care of your own body, how can you manage Su Tang in the future?”
Without waiting for Ye Chiyu to reply, Su Bing stood up with her phone and walked toward the door.
“You stay here and keep the kid company. I’ll go downstairs and buy you something to eat.”
Su Bing left those words and walked away, her steps huge and her expression fierce.
Truly, not one of them is easy to deal with.
Just as Su Bing left, Su Tang’s fingers, which had been in a deep sleep, suddenly moved. Seeing he was about to wake up, Ye Chiyu quickly let go of the hand he was holding and sat aside with his arms crossed and a serious expression.
Su Tang had just woken up. It took about a minute for him to gradually adjust to the light in the ward. He had no strength and could only barely tilt his head. He saw the Alpha staring at him with a cold face.
The Alpha was truly angry with him this time. Su Tang was a bit afraid of this cold-faced Ye Xiansheng, yet his heart was very dependent on his Alpha.
“Ye Xiansheng…”
The little guy’s voice was weak and pitiful. He stared at Ye Chiyu with wide eyes, cautiously studying the Alpha’s expression.
“Ye Xiansheng, I know I was wrong. You…”
Seeing Ye Chiyu’s expression was still not good, Su Tang felt anxious and sad. But his body was too weak to have the strength to sit up. He could only stretch out his pale, thin arm, desperately wanting to grab Ye Xiansheng’s hand.
Just as his fingertips were about to touch the sleeve, the Alpha avoided him.
His right hand fell weakly back onto the bed. Su Tang’s eyes turned red, and his nose felt a burst of soreness.
Ye Xiansheng had never been this cold to him. Since they met, Ye Chiyu had always been gentle and doting. But now, even if the Alpha didn’t say a single harsh word to him, Su Tang couldn’t bear it.
“Ye Xiansheng, scold me. You can hit me too.”
“Just don’t ignore me…”
The little Omega’s voice was incredibly sad. He tried his best to control himself not to cry, but tears kept swirling in his eyes. He could only bury his face in the pillow to wipe the tears away himself before turning back to look at Ye Chiyu.
With Su Tang like this, how could Ye Chiyu’s heart stay hard? But Su Tang had truly gone too far this time. If he didn’t make him face his problem, what if there was a next time?
What if he wasn’t by Su Tang’s side next time?
With such a dangerous situation, he couldn’t allow it to happen a second time.
“Ye Xiansheng, if you’re angry, just scold me. Don’t stay silent,” Su Tang bit his bloodless lip hard, pleading with his eyes for the Alpha to give him some reaction. “I’m scared.”
Ye Chiyu closed his eyes and took a deep breath, his amber eyes full of suppressed emotions.
“Tangtang.”
The Alpha finally spoke. Su Tang gave a small “Mm,” waiting for Ye Chiyu to start scolding him.
“You really…”
Ye Chiyu’s voice was even hoarser than usual, his gaze pained and sad. He suddenly scooped the weak Omega from the bed and into his arms, holding him tightly as if he were afraid the person would be gone in the next second.
“Do you know, Tangtang? You really scared me to death this time.”
“Ye Xiansheng.”
His Alpha had shown his fragile side before him for the first time. Su Tang’s eyes felt hot, and his voice carried a sob.
“Fortunately, I heard something wrong over the phone and went home. You were in pain and vomiting, and finally, you even vomited blood,” Ye Chiyu said lowly, incredibly sad. “If I had come home late, what would you have done, Tangtang?”
Su Tang’s tears began to fall uncontrollably. He used all his strength to hug his Alpha back, speaking with a sob: “It won’t happen. I’m fine. Look, I’m fine now, Ye Xiansheng.”
Ye Chiyu held the little guy’s shoulders, his eyes blank and lost. He clearly wasn’t crying, but Su Tang just felt that the Alpha’s heart was weeping.
“Su Tang, what if,” the Alpha stared fixedly at his Omega, his voice trembling, “what if something really happened to you? What would you have me do alone?”
Ye Chiyu raised his hand and gently wiped away the tears that were falling like an open floodgate from the little guy’s eyes.
Su Tang cried fiercely. His head was buzzing, and he was a bit oxygen-deprived. After recovering some strength, he weakly held the Alpha’s hand.
He spoke solemnly to his Alpha: “Ye Xiansheng, from now on, I’ll listen to everything you say. I’ll be good and never eat whatever I want to make you worry again. I promise.”
Before Ye Chiyu could speak, Su Bing, who was carrying a meal in one hand, walked toward Su Tang in a rage. She dropped the meal and directly gave Su Tang a sharp flick on the forehead!
“Su Tang, you little brat! You’d better do what you say!!”
Clutching his reddened forehead, Su Tang was so startled by his sister’s direct aura that he started to hiccup.
“Hic—!”
Su Bing glared, gritting her teeth: “Su Tang!”
