Chapter 104: Lin Huaizhi’s Father
Li Meiqing and Huo Chengzhang started arguing.
She unleashed a torrent of words, as if she wanted to force all the nasty things Huo Chen hadn’t heard onto Huo Chengzhang instead.
“Now you know to yell at me! When I was speaking earlier, why didn’t you tell me to stop?!”
“Coming here today was your idea! You were the one who told me to give Huo Chen a good talking-to! Now that Huo Chen won’t let us in and people are gossiping, you start shifting all the blame onto me!”
Li Meiqing grew angrier as she spoke.
“Back then, was there any man I couldn’t have married?! Every one of them was more successful than you! Every one of them was more handsome and richer! You were the one who shamelessly pursued me! You said you’d treat me well for a lifetime! You said you wouldn’t let me suffer a single grievance! And now?!”
“Now you actually dare to lay a hand on me!”
“Huo Chengzhang! You are utterly shameless!”
When Huo Chengzhang had originally sought to marry Li Meiqing, it was indeed the Li family who had a better background. He couldn’t successfully pursue girls from the most dazzling, top-tier families, and only Li Meiqing, who loved hearing sweet talk, was moved by him.

Lin Huaizhi stood behind the curtain, having watched this drama from start to finish.
It wasn’t until the couple had pulled and tugged at each other as they left that a warm chest pressed against his back, followed by the man’s voice.
“What are you looking at?”
Lin Huaizhi held Huo Chen’s hand and didn’t answer, instead asking, “Are you really not going out to see them?”
Huo Chen was silent for a moment.
“There’s nothing to see. They will never realize their own problems. They will only feel that the current situation was caused by me alone and demand that I change.”
Lin Huaizhi didn’t press further.
He knew how deep the influence of one’s original family could be.
Even now, he would still put a knife or other self-defense items under his pillow, fearing that that man would suddenly break in at night to beat him.
Huo Chen’s parents were far too high and mighty.
Just like that man, they felt children were their appendages. Since they had given birth to them, they could hit or curse them as they pleased.
“It’s okay.”
Lin Huaizhi turned around to hug the man.
He kissed the man’s lips, his voice soft: “With me, you can always just be Huo Chen, not the son of the Huo family.”
Li Meiqing and Huo Chengzhang reached their car, still bickering.
Just then, a man popped out.
“Are you Huo Chen’s parents?”
Huo Chengzhang turned around. His frown deepened significantly upon seeing the short, dark man with hair like a messy bird’s nest and a mouthful of yellowed, blackened teeth.
“Who are you?”
It sounded like a question, but it was really an interrogation.
The short man straightened his body. “I’m Lin Huaizhi’s father. He was supposed to carry on the lineage for my Lin family, but your son led him astray. You must compensate me for my losses!”
Huo Chengzhang and Li Meiqing looked at each other, both their eyes filled with confusion.
When facing outsiders, no matter how much this couple argued or cursed each other, they still put on an air of nobility, as if they were the elite of the elite.
Li Meiqing made no attempt to hide her disgust for the short man. While covering her nose with her hand, she also took two steps back.
“What do you mean, Lin Huaizhi’s parent? We investigated. Lin Huaizhi’s mother died long ago, and his father went to prison. He basically has no parents right now!”
The short man looked at Li Meiqing, a sinister glint flashing in his eyes.
He didn’t answer her but looked directly at Huo Chengzhang. “Back where we come from, women have no right to butt into men’s conversations. The wife you found has no manners at all. If it were me, I’d have taught her a lesson with a club long ago!”
Although Huo Chengzhang had slapped Li Meiqing, he was born into wealth and had received an elite education. Even if he agreed with the short man in the deepest part of his heart, he still had to maintain an air of morality.
“What nonsense are you talking!”
“Hitting people with clubs is a barbaric act! I would never use it against my wife!”
The short man spat on the ground. “Come off it. You rich people have all these big principles in your mouths, but you’re out there eating, drinking, gambling, and playing with women. You aren’t necessarily any more refined or cleaner than me!”
Huo Chengzhang: “You!”
Suppreessing his anger, Huo Chengzhang looked coldly at the man. “I don’t care if you’re really Lin Huaizhi’s father or not. Your son led mine astray, and I haven’t settled the score with you yet, but you actually came to my door. How truly laughable!”
The short man dug in his ear.
“I don’t care if it’s laughable or not. Anyway, Lin Huaizhi was meant to leave an heir for our old Lin family! Now he’s messing around with a man and even living together. You must give me an explanation! Otherwise…”
The short man gave a cold laugh.
“I’m a bachelor anyway; I’m not afraid of you people with everything to lose. If you don’t take care of this, I’ll take you down with me!”
Li Meiqing’s unvented emotions exploded at this moment. “Are you insane?! My son is so outstanding. If it weren’t for Lin Huaizhi’s deliberate seduction, how could he possibly be with a man! Your Lin family needs an heir, but does our Huo family not?!”
“Our Huo family needs an heir far more than yours! A broken entertainment company isn’t even worth one percent of the Huo Group!!”
The short man spat again upon hearing this.
“That little beast was vicious from a young age. His eyes were like a wolf’s; they made me want to gouge them out. I didn’t expect him to actually like men. I should have drowned him in the river back then!”
The short man looked at Huo Chengzhang again.
“In any case, I don’t care. I just want money. If you don’t give it, I’ll make a huge scene! I’ll let everyone know the true faces of you rich people!”
Li Meiqing wanted to keep cursing, but Huo Chengzhang suddenly had an idea.
“You can have money, but you must do as I say. As long as you succeed, I will give you the money.”
