Chapter 60: Pan-Fried Buns
Wen Yuhuai slammed the wardrobe shut with a bang and climbed into bed to sleep, his movements stiff. What was he thinking? The tags hadn’t even been removed from the clothes yet; Gu Yanxiu must have prepared them on short notice. After all, he had always been this gentle and considerate.
After brainwashing himself like this, he indeed felt much better. Wen Yuhuai closed his eyes and forced himself to sleep. Perhaps his nerves had been too tightly wound, but he tossed and turned on the bed for a long time without falling asleep.
Finally, he gave up on sleep, turned on the light, and sat up. He walked two laps around the room barefoot, accidentally kicking the chair next to the computer desk.
“A-Yu, not asleep yet?”
Gu Yanxiuās voice came unexpectedly from outside the door. Wen Yuhuai was startled. He carefully straightened the chair, making no more noise.
Knock, knock, knock…
“A-Yu?”
Wen Yuhuai hesitated for a moment but still walked over and opened the door.
Gu Yanxiu was standing outside the door in his pajamas, looking concerned. He was holding a water glass, appearing as though he had gotten up in the middle of the night for a drink.
“What happened? I went to the living room to pour some water, and just as I was about to drink, I heard a sound from your room.”
Wen Yuhuaiās expression was a bit unnatural. “I accidentally knocked over a chair.”
Gu Yanxiuās expression became even more anxious. “Did it hit you?”
It was rare for Wen Yuhuai to find something both ridiculous and amusing. The negative emotions in his heart were also diluted quite a bit. Not to mention the chair hadn’t hit him at all, but even if it had, how could it possibly injure him? He wasn’t a porcelain doll.
Seeing the change in his expression, Gu Yanxiu quickly realized he was making a mountain out of a molehill. He turned around with a smile and walked toward his room. “As long as you’re okay. I was overthinking. Then Iāll go back to rest. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
Fu Xingjian had realized a few days ago that someone was secretly targeting him, but that person had been very careful and hadn’t left any evidence.
But no matter how careful one was, there were always traces to be found. Fu Xingjian quickly discovered that the person playing tricks behind the scenes was Gu Yanxiu.
Actually, even before the investigation results were out, he already had a rough idea. There were only a few people it could be. Song Xingmian had been thrown abroad by him, and Lin Shiyu was too busy looking after himself. Only Gu Yanxiu was the most suspicious.
In the end, as expected, it was him.
He had been forced to stay late at the company with his men to repair the group’s network firewall vulnerabilities and held an emergency meeting. Before the meeting was over, his phone issued an alarm.
This was the notification sound he had specially set for the home surveillance.
He immediately cut the meeting short and rushed home with a cold face. In the end, he was still too late.
The villa was brightly lit, and the two main doors were wide open, mocking his underestimation of the enemy. Without even going in to look, he knew there would definitely be no one inside.
Fu Xingjian pulled up the surveillance playback almost masochistically, watching it over and over again. After an unknown number of times, he curled his lips slightly, revealing a nearly bloodthirsty smile.
“Daring to steal my person… you’d better hide him well.”
After Gu Yanxiu returned to his room, the smile on his face faded bit by bit. He gave a regrettable tsk and casually tossed the key he had been clutching into his hand onto the bedside table.
Naturally, he hadn’t gotten up in the middle of the night just for water. He wasn’t that much of a gentleman. Now that he had stolen the person back, he naturally wanted to do something to make himself happy.
A pity. After waiting for so long, the person still hadn’t fallen asleep.
Gu Yanxiu finished the plain water in his glass in two gulps and placed the glass absent-mindedly on the nightstand. Then, he picked up the tablet next to his pillow.
The image on the tablet was of the room next door. The lights were out, but the 360-degree, high-definition night vision camera still captured everything in the room clearly.
Gu Yanxiu narrowed his eyes with pleasure, spreading two fingers to zoom in on the image. The young manās face immediately occupied the entire screen.
He didn’t seem to be asleep yet; his long, thick eyelashes kept fluttering, looking as if they might open at any second.
Of course, they didn’t open in the end. The frequency of the eyelashes trembling became slower and slower until they finally returned to peace. His slightly furrowed brows also slowly relaxed.
He was asleep.
Gu Yanxiu, however, still sat on the bed without moving. He only casually picked up that string of keys and played with them back and forth in his palm.
It was already 2:30 AM.
He should be sound asleep by now.
Gu Yanxiu turned off the tablet, threw back the covers, and rose unhurriedly. With the keys hooked around his finger, he stepped out and quietly opened the door to the room next door.
The door opened and closed before his eyes without making a sound. Gu Yanxiu stepped onto the carpet and approached the bedside silently.
Wen Yuhuai was lying on his side, his body slightly curledāa very defensive sleeping posture.
Gu Yanxiu knelt on the carpet by the bed. He raised his hand and gently touched the soft, warm cheek of the person on the bed. The unprecedented swelling desire for possession in his heart was instantly calmed a little.
But it wasn’t enough. He wanted more.
Gu Yanxiuās upper body was already leaning over the bedāspecifically, leaning over Wen Yuhuai. He buried his face cautiously in the crook of the boy’s neck, greedily sniffing the fragrance on his body.
After a while longer, Wen Yuhuaiās pajama buttons were silently undone. Under the weak light of the small bedside nightlight, more than half of his fair chest and shoulders were revealed, though they were now covered in many piercing red marks.
Gu Yanxiuās brow darkened for a moment. He pressed down heavily on them with his thumb, as if trying to wipe those marks away.
A moment later, his furrowed brows relaxed again. Gu Yanxiu lowered his head, his lips pressing against those piercing red marks, gently licking and sucking them.
Since they couldn’t be removed, then he would use his own marks to cover them up again.
The nightlight was dim and ambiguous. The two shadows reflected on the wall slowly drew closer, nearer and nearer, until they finally overlapped.
