Chapter 34: Really Going to Explode
Mu Feng’s eyes widened, a hint of panic in his voice. “Let’s… let’s not.”
Those words felt like they had just rendered the plot of the first hundred episodes completely pointless.
Liang Yuhang’s tone remained as steady as ever. “You’ve finally realized the distinction between an Alpha and an Omega. You’ve grown up.”
Inside, Mu Feng was practically screaming.
No, no, no, that’s not it at all! It was all his fault for talking nonsense; he had pushed Liang Yuhang away with just a few careless words.
And he had finally managed to get a little closer.
He shook his head, trying to clear the chaotic mess of his thoughts. “Please don’t misunderstand me. That research topic wasn’t good. I want to change it.”
Liang Yuhang looked at the row of reagents. “I think it’s very good. Start on it today.”
Mu Feng looked up at him, a trace of anger in his eyes. He spoke slowly and stubbornly, emphasizing every word. “It’s not good. It affects our relationship. I don’t like it.”
As a child, he had always been submissive and resigned to his fate. It was only when he grew older that he realized he could resist, but back then, he was clumsy with words and couldn’t explain himself.
Now, he was smooth and sophisticated when communicating with others, yet in front of Liang Yuhang, he felt like he had reverted to his childhood self—stuttering and hesitant.
Seeing him like that, Liang Yuhang’s heart softened slightly. Forget it, why get worked up over a kid?
He nodded. “Fine. Change it.”
“Then take back what you said earlier.”
Mu Feng stopped using formal honorifics; he was persistent, feeling genuinely hurt.
Liang Yuhang’s heart softened further. “Alright. I take it back.”
Mu Feng stared at him for a few seconds, making sure he was taking the matter seriously, before finally breathing a sigh of relief. “What should I change it to then?”
“The experiment you were secretly working on before,” Liang Yuhang said.
Mu Feng hadn’t expected him to bring that up.
That experiment was actually a highly fantastical one with almost zero possibility of success.
Infinite expansion of mental power, combined with a quantum entanglement biological pod—Time Retrograde.
He wanted to return to the past.
Back to the time before Liang Yuhang underwent the surgery for his mechanical heart.
He had witnessed the other man’s agony—his immunity to all forms of anesthesia, the endless torture. He felt heartache, anger, and a sense of helplessness, not knowing how to help him.
But after 2,748 experiments, it was still a failure.
The final expansion of mental power had accidentally created the reagent that allowed him to turn into Mu Mu. That was the final result.
“That… it’s impossible,” Mu Feng laughed. “I was just messing around. If you have any topics, I can try those instead.”
“Why is it impossible? Tell me about it.” Liang Yuhang’s expression was serious this time.
Mu Feng felt a bit embarrassed, fearing he would be laughed at. “Thinking about… time retrograde. Isn’t it a bit far-fetched?”
Liang Yuhang thought of Mu Feng’s red, teary eyes from yesterday when he was being framed. “Do you want to change your past?”
Mu Feng answered in his heart: No, I want to change yours.
I want you to be free from that pain. I want you to live like a normal person.
Mu Feng smiled. “I guess. Because my life hasn’t been that great.”
Liang Yuhang didn’t dismiss his naivety. “Give it a try. I can be your test subject. Even if it fails, an expansion of mental power would be a great combat buff for soldiers on the front lines.”
Mu Feng nearly bit his tongue. “You… no way. What if I break you?”
Liang Yuhang let out a short laugh and said leisurely, “Breaking me is actually quite difficult.”
Mu Feng thought about it; he was right. After all, with the physical constitution of a top-tier Alpha, he was simply afraid of Liang Yuhang feeling pain.
“Forget it,” Mu Feng said. “I’ll go catch a few lab rats. What kind of student starts with human experimentation right away?”
Liang Yuhang reached out his hand. “Give me your previous experimental records.”
Mu Feng hesitated.
Liang Yuhang used his own words to threaten him. “It seems you’re the one who wants to keep your distance from me.”
“No, no! I’ll give them to you!”
Mu Feng absolutely did not want to hear those words again. He hurriedly opened the encrypted file on his phone. “Sending them now.”
Nearby, Zhou Tiantian was frantically sending voice messages to Liang Jingyi. “We’ve started the practicals, Little Instructor!! Where are you!!! I haven’t seen you in three days!!! Look at your brother!!! He’s way more responsible than you!!!”
The more he looked, the more envious he became.
On his left was Lu Zhuo, chatting and laughing, and on his right was Liang Yuhang, discussing data with a serious expression.
Zhou Tiantian was stuck in the middle, alone and helpless.
Heavens, why is my life more bitter than coptis root?
“I’m here, stop hounding me.” Liang Jingyi arrived late, clearly bothered by that last remark. “What do you mean my brother is more responsible? Say that again.”
Mu Feng turned his head and frowned at him. “Are you secretly in love with your brother?”
Liang Jingyi looked speechless. “Are you crazy? I’d have to be sick to be in love with him.”
“Hard to say.” Mu Feng was always very aggressive toward him. “You really do seem mentally unstable. Have you been to a hospital? You should get treated early.”
Liang Jingyi suddenly smirked. “You’re actually quite cute when you’re baring your claws like this.”
Mu Feng: “…”
This guy really does have a screw loose. Cute? My ass. Where am I cute?
He clicked his tongue. “Did you do a handstand and drink toilet water last night?”
Liang Jingyi remained calm. “My brother isn’t even in a relationship, why would I drink toilet water?”
Mu Feng felt that arguing with him was truly pointless. He turned his head away indignantly, only to find Liang Yuhang still looking at his experimental records.
He instantly stood up straight like an elementary schooler, feeling a bit nervous. “Is there really no point in continuing this?”
“You’ve done very well.” Liang Yuhang was always clear about rewards and punishments, never stingy with praise. “I’ll have 0717 come over to assist you.”
“Such high praise?” Mu Feng touched his cheek, feeling it grow a bit hot. “I… am I really that amazing?”
Liang Yuhang noticed that Mu Feng actually loved being praised. He had been baring his claws while arguing with someone else just a moment ago, yet now he was as docile as could be.
So, he praised him further: “A little genius of reagents.”
Mu Feng: !!!!
He wanted to grab a megaphone and shout to the entire lab: Did you hear that? He called me a little genius again!
Is 0717 around? Why didn’t he record it this time? I want to listen to it a few more times.
Just as he thought that, 0717 materialized at the door. “Boss! Why does an AI have to work two jobs now? If you want my little life, just say so!!! I can’t go on!!!”
“That fat penguin, keep it down. Keep the lab quiet,” Liang Jingyi reminded from behind.
0717’s eyes instantly turned into puddles of tears. “What fat penguin? I am the most beautiful penguin! I can even glow, enough to blind your dog eyes!”
“You’re the most beautiful, I’ve never seen anyone more beautiful. Come help me,” Mu Feng said, patting its head.
“You’re the only good one, unlike some bad things with underdeveloped cerebellums.” 0717 rubbed against his palm. “Come, input the records for me, and I’ll help you optimize them.”
Mu Feng was actually feeling a bit guilty.
What if the reagent for turning into a cat was discovered?
“Give it to me! I’m a fully intelligent robot; there’s no data that the Great 0717 cannot analyze.” 0717 reached out to him. “Hurry, hurry, hurry! I have thirty more things to handle after this.”
“Think it’s too much work?” Liang Yuhang said. “Then I’ll dock your pay and give you less work.”
0717 refused while analyzing the input data. “No! My dream is to become the richest robot. Please do not maliciously dock my money, thank you.”
Mu Feng teased, “Well, that’s mostly because Boss Liang is rich.”
Zhou Tiantian poked his head over. “Pardon the intrusion, but how much is 0717’s salary?”
Liang Yuhang replied, “Seventy thousand a month.”
Zhou Tiantian clutched his chest, feeling a sudden lack of oxygen. “What does a robot need such a high salary for!!! I’ve made my wish—in my next life, I want to be reincarnated as Liang Yuhang’s robot.”
Jiang Yu’an laughed at him. “Have some ambition. You’d be better off reincarnated as my son.”
Lu Zhuo suddenly coughed twice. “What are you saying?”
Zhou Tiantian thought about it. “True. Let’s all die early then; the wish will come true faster that way.”
Lu Zhuo: “…”
Hearing everyone envy his salary, 0717’s vanity was greatly satisfied. “Hmm… there’s absolutely no problem with the reagent, but combining it with Time Retrograde… it’s beyond my search range… range… range…”
The processing caused 0717 to freeze up completely.
Mu Feng exchanged a look with Liang Yuhang. “See? I told you, there’s no point in doing this.”
“Give me a shot and let’s try.” Liang Yuhang rolled up his sleeve, his expression perfectly calm. “I don’t usually have adverse reactions to experimental reagents.”
He was practically a divinely chosen experimental body.
Mu Feng’s hand was shaking as he pricked him with the syringe.
If Teacher Liang’s mental power expands, he won’t turn into Mu Mu too, will he? That would be terrifying.
“I don’t feel anything. We’ll observe for a day,” Liang Yuhang said calmly.
But in Mu Feng’s mind, Liang Yuhang was already rolling around on the floor as Mu Mu.
It was hard to look him in the eye.
He continued to adjust the reagent, thinking that since the other man’s physical condition was better than his own, he should increase the dosage a bit. Then, he heard 0717’s detection broadcast nearby.
“Hormonal fluctuation: Abnormal.”
“Mental power: Expanding.”
“Body temperature: Increased by 2 degrees.”
“Wait a minute… Boss, you seem like… you’re about to explode.”
Since there were many people in the lab, 0717 tried to avoid using certain forbidden words and phrased it as tactfully as possible.
Mu Feng’s lips parted slightly. “…Didn’t you say there were no adverse reactions?”
Explode where? Is it an… explosion?
Mu Feng turned and saw Liang Yuhang stand up abruptly. He dropped a single sentence: “I’m going back to my room. 0717, stop the recording.”
0717 lowered its voice and let out a sneaky chuckle. “Your reagent is amazing! Do you want to come upstairs with me and take a peek?”
“A peek? I wouldn’t dare.” Even as Mu Feng said this, his feet were already honestly moving toward the door.
Actually, there wasn’t much to see; it wasn’t like he hadn’t seen it last night.
The first time was new, the second time was familiar.
0717 escorted him to the door and even thoughtfully swiped the card to unlock it. “Heehee, I won’t watch. The Great 0717 has the utmost integrity. I wish you two a pleasant time, heeheehee, so exciting! Oops!”
Mu Feng: “…”
The robot seemed a bit crazed.
Mu Feng pushed the door open and entered. Liang Yuhang had just finished splashing his face with cold water and looked quite unsettled by the effects of the reagent.
Droplets of water dripped from his face; his collar was slightly messy, and his chest was heaving.
“It seems that the expansion of mental power affects hormonal balance,” Mu Feng stated his experimental conclusion with a straight face.
Liang Yuhang spoke with forced restraint. “Yes. That’s enough for today.”
Mu Feng reached out, his slightly cool hand pressing against the other man’s cheek. “It’s very hot.”
Liang Yuhang turned his head, avoiding his palm.
He was forced to bring back the words he had previously retracted. “Mu Feng, this is a special situation. Keep your distance from me. Behave.”
“And if I say… I won’t?”
Mu Feng tilted his head to look at him, his tone a bit provocative. “I told you, I absolutely hate that sentence.”
The next second, his hands were twisted behind his back, and his entire body was pinned forcefully against the door.
Liang Yuhang yanked off his tie and skillfully bound Mu Feng’s hands tight. “Won’t behave, will you, Mu Feng?”
