Chapter 112: Go in and See for Yourself
“You haven’t even said what it is. How do you expect this Bengong to help you?”
Li Xuanyue turned her gaze toward Li Lan. “Or do you think this Bengong can read minds and know what youâre thinking?”
He had talked for a while without getting to the point. He asked for help without saying what he had done. It seemed her royal brother wasn’t entirely sure if she would agree, so he was being vague for fear she would refuse. He wasn’t without a brain.
Li Lanâs face turned red at her teasing. “Does that mean Huangjie agrees?” he asked, trying to muddle through.
He had thought it over and decided only Li Xuanyue could help him through this danger. If she was just testing him, he would have to fight to the death.
Li Xuanyue didn’t want to be caught in his trap. “Agree to what?”
“This Bengong isn’t a fool. You won’t even say what it is, yet you want me to agree. Have you ever seen a merchant who expects payment before showing the goods?”
Li Lan was embarrassed by her sarcasm. He knew the request was overboard, but things had reached a point where he had no choice. If he didn’t tell her the truth, she would likely keep stalling him.
After weighing it again, Li Lan finally spoke the truth. “I rescued a person from the Junhou.”
The moment the words fell, the study became so quiet one could hear their own breathing. Li Xuanyue realized who the person was. Her playful expression vanished, replaced by a very serious one.
“You did it?” her voice sounded somewhat strange.
They had been searching and found nothing. They were about to send more people. Who would have thought the person who took Hua Sang under Hua Shanâs nose was right in front of herâthe brother she had never paid attention to.
At this moment, Li Xuanyue had to look closely at Li Lan. He was truly unexpected. If he hadn’t come forward, who would have suspected him?
Li Lan had never been stared at like this. Li Xuanyueâs piercing gaze made him feel as if he were naked. He was restless.
“Although this Chendi was in the wrong…” Li Lan tried to defend himself. “Does Huangjie not want to know the reason why I did it?”
Li Xuanyue frowned. “What do you mean?”
He took the person from Hua Shan; what did that have to do with her? Was it her command? Seeing the doubt in her eyes, Li Lan finally couldn’t hold back the truth.
“Huangjie might not know, but this person the Junhou was hiding is actually one of the Junhou’s own people.”

“Li Lan, do you know what you are saying?”
He came for help and now claimed Hua Sang was Hua Shanâs person. What was he planning? Seeing that she didn’t believe him, Li Lan didn’t show fear.
“Huangjie, if you go with me to see him, you will know.”
Though she didn’t know what Li Lan was up to, seeing his serious face, her heart wavered.
“Gongzhu!” Yinxin looked at her worriedly, clearly not wanting her to go.
Li Xuanyue patted Yinxinâs hand. “Itâs fine.”
She had many people protecting her in the shadows, and her own skills were good. Even if Li Lan wanted to do something, he wouldn’t have waited until now. Seeing this, Li Lan breathed a sigh of relief.
It was about a fifteen-minute walk from the Phoenix Harmony Palace to the Shanren Palace. However, Li Lan was afraid their group would attract too much attention late at night. After all, the sibling bond between them wasn’t exactly recognized by the public. So, he suggested he leave first, and she could bring Yinxin to his palace when no one was looking.
Initially, Li Xuanyue thought he had ulterior motives, but considering Hua Shanâs recent search, she agreed. When she and Yinxin arrived at the Shanren Palace, Li Lan was already waiting.
“Letâs go!” He didn’t waste time and urged them behind the screen.
Looking at the sandalwood screen, Li Xuanyue vaguely saw a figure lying behind it. Is this ‘Uncle’? Though she guessed it, she didn’t move. Li Lan turned back and frowned when he saw her stationary.
“What are you hesitating for, Huangjie?” Did she not want the truth?
Li Xuanyueâs gaze became complex. “Are you sure he is the person Fujun was hiding?”
Why did it feel unreal? She had lost two waves of people trying to find a trace, yet Li Lan said he had the person. It felt like a dream.
Seeing her doubt, Li Lan said, “Would this Chendi joke about something so major? Go in and see for yourself.”
Li Xuanyue pursed her lips and followed him. The Shanren Palace was not as lavish as the Phoenix Harmony Palace; it was very simple with almost no decorations except a wooden bed.
Having lost his Crane Crest, Hua Sang did not look like an ordinary person. His hair was as white as snow. His eyes were closed, and if not for the slight rise and fall of his chest, Li Xuanyue would have thought he was a corpse.
“What happened to him?” she asked worriedly. “Why is he like this?”
Li Lan looked at her with a complicated expression. “Does Huangjie truly not know?”
Hearing this, Li Xuanyue had a bad premonition.
“He became like this because he saved someone.”
As for who that person was, although Li Lan didn’t say it, Li Xuanyue already guessed. At that moment, her face, which still had a bit of color, turned deathly pale.
