Chapter 38: M Attribute, Enjoyed Being Beaten; Waking Up in a Cage / Enduring… part 1
Witnessing Jiang Chenyan being dragged away, Kai Lan, hidden in the shadows, shivered violently. Before he could think further, he urgently messaged Shen Shiyue at the other location:
[Things are settled on Jiang Chenyan’s side. As discussed, you go handle the business on your end first. We’ll meet tomorrow.]
Seeing this message, Shen Shiyue’s gaze turned cold inch by inch. He immediately turned the skiff around and sent Ji Xuan back to the branch.
The wind in the night rolled with chill, tossing the black hair on Shen Shiyue’s forehead. His fingertips hanging at his side instinctively clenched, his knuckles turning white.

Piercing white light fell from the ceiling, making one’s eyes ache with pain.
Jiang Chenyan only felt his head was groggy. As he barely propped up his upper body, the familiar electronic voice of the system sounded in his mind:
[Host, it’s only been a few days since we met. How did you end up in a place like this?]
Jiang Chenyan raised his hand and pressed firmly on his throbbing temples, “You still have the face to ask? You vanished into thin air these past few days. Where did you go?”]

The system’s defense caused Jiang Chenyan to regain his focus slightly. He instinctively surveyed his surroundings and froze.
He was trapped in a cold metal cage. A thick, heavy chain was wrapped around his ankle, the other end firmly welded to the cage wall, making it difficult to even move half a step.
The light overhead was dazzlingly bright, illuminating the entire room in a translucent white.
Jiang Chenyan squinted and scanned the area. In the empty room, dozens of identical cages were arranged in neat rows. In each cage, a person was curled up.
They seemed to have not yet awakened, lying quietly.
The Omegas in the cages all wore uniform white shirts, the fabric hanging loosely on their thin bodies. Their skin was fair to the point of being translucent, and their figures were so thin they looked as if a gust of wind could blow them over, exuding a sickly frailty.
The dead silence in the room lasted for a long time until a faint sob broke the silence. Immediately after, intermittent wailing echoed lowly in the vast space.
Jiang Chenyan’s brows furrowed tightly.
The system was already dumbfounded and chose to crash.

The heavy iron door was thrown open, making everyone in the cages tremble. Those Omegas, whose gazes were originally muddled and whose spirits were listless, were also instantly startled into alertness by this sudden movement, shrinking into the corners of their cages in terror.
The leading man wore a black mask, revealing only a sharp jawline. Ignoring the surrounding commotion, he strode to Jiang Chenyan’s cage, looking down at him and sizing him up. His voice carried a hint of playfulness: “Newcomer? So composed? Not afraid?”
Jiang Chenyan looked up, looking at the man expressionlessly, treating his presence as air, not even bestowing him with an extra glance.
The man obviously hadn’t expected to be ignored like this. His brow twitched slightly, and he reached out to open the cage door, his fingertips roughly grabbing Jiang Chenyan’s chin, forcing him to look up and meet his gaze. “What’s going on? He can’t be a fool, can he? Not even a reaction.”
Jiang Chenyan: “…”
The inconspicuous little stud in his ear caught a flicker of light under the lamps.
Kai Lan, far away at the other end of the surveillance, saw this scene. The heart that was hanging in mid-air settled slightly, and he whispered: “This move is good. They mistakenly think Jiang Chenyan is an unresponsive fool, and instead, they will let their guard down against him.”
Mo Qingyu: “?”
Shen Shiyue fell silent. “…”
The man carefully searched Jiang Chenyan’s face, from the tightly pursed lips to the calm eyes. After a moment, he let go of his hand and tossed him aside, “He’s quite good-looking, quite pretty.”
He turned and shouted toward the door: “Who found him first? Tell me the situation. This little O hasn’t spoken a word. Could there really be something wrong with his brain?”
Someone at the door immediately responded and stepped forward: “I found him. He can definitely talk; I’ve heard him open his mouth before. In my opinion, looking at him, he probably suffered some trauma in the past. Maybe he was abandoned, which is why he became so silent.”
Just as these words fell, Jiang Chenyan’s fingertips hanging at his side moved imperceptibly.
He slowly lowered his eyelashes. When he looked up again, his originally calm eyes were now filled with moisture, and his eyes quietly turned red, looking exactly like he was forcing himself to endure after being poked in a sore spot.
“Just kill me…”
The man thought it was interesting. He leaned over and grabbed Jiang Chenyan’s hair, forcing him to tilt his head back. His fingertips rubbed against the reddened corner of his eye, his tone flirtatious yet pressured: “Your voice is quite nice, and you’re so pretty. How could Big Brother bear to kill you?”
Jiang Chenyan’s scalp pained from the pulling, yet he maintained that fragile and helpless expression on his face.
His fingertips hanging at his side clenched tightly, his nails almost sinking into his palm.
So disgusting. He really wanted to take a knife and hack him.
Remembering something, the man tossed Jiang Chenyan aside. He didn’t rein in his strength, and Jiang Chenyan slammed hard into the iron cage bars, a dull pain radiating from his shoulder blade.
“Watch him well. Don’t let him take his own life.” The man instructed his subordinates behind him.
Afterward, he asked with a frown: “Didn’t they say three were caught this time? What about the other two? What’s the situation?”
“The other two haven’t woken up yet. It’s estimated that the dosage used was a bit high.”
The man sneered, “Such poor physical quality. What time is it, and they still haven’t woken up?” As his words fell, he kicked the empty iron cage next to him. The sound of metal clashing was exceptionally piercing in the vast room.
Watching his movements, Jiang Chenyan’s brows furrowed.
Before long, someone reported that those two had finally awakened. When they were dragged past the man, and they saw the cold, hard contours beneath the man’s mask and the eerie scene around them, their vision went black, and they fainted again.
Seeing this, the man had no expression on his face. He just waved his hand and instructed impatiently: “Fine, don’t waste time here. Take the other awakened ones down first and train them according to the old rules.”
The subordinate immediately responded, stepped forward to open those cages, roughly dragged out the soul-shaken Omegas, and pushed them toward the passage deep in the room.
For a moment, cries, pleas for mercy, and the sound of iron chains rubbing against each other intertwined. Jiang Chenyan was the last to leave the cage. He quietly shrunk into the corner of the cage and secretly noted the direction of the passage.
Jiang Chenyan asked the person at the other end of the micro-surveillance, “How is it? Can you pinpoint the approximate location?”
Kai Lan: “Don’t worry, it’s stable. Just take care of yourself.”
Jiang Chenyan nodded silently, blending into the driven crowd, walking deep into the passage.
Cold stone walls brushed against his arms, and the air was filled with an oppressive atmosphere. He was quietly noting his surroundings when everyone stopped halfway.
A familiar voice came from the corner of the passage: “I’ve checked. An Omega named Mo Qingyu escaped. Who among you knows the specifics of his situation?”
Jiang Chenyan followed the sound and looked over. His heart constricted abruptly. It was Luo De.
The man wore a dark uniform different from the guards, the corners of his mouth hooked into an extremely cold smile, “If you won’t talk, I’ll search myself.”
The vast space instantly fell into a dead silence. Everyone’s faces showed panic and fear, and they instinctively shrank back one after another. Jiang Chenyan’s brows furrowed tightly as he alertly watched the situation change. Right then, the stud in his ear caught a very faint flicker of light.
The subtle light happened to catch Luo De’s attention. His expression froze, and he immediately locked his gaze onto Jiang Chenyan. He strode through the crowd that was blocking his way and walked straight toward him.
Jiang Chenyan’s heart tightened abruptly. He instinctively lowered his head, hiding most of his face in the shadows, his fingertips unconsciously clenching.
The next second, a pair of polished black leather boots stopped before his eyes, the tips almost touching his trouser legs. Then, Luo De’s cold and temperatureless voice sounded above him: “Lift your head.”
Jiang Chenyan didn’t move, treating it as wind past his ears.
On the other side, Kai Lan stared fixedly at the two in a standoff on the screen, his knuckles turning white from exertion. Shen Shiyue beside him also had a grave expression, his hand on the table quietly clenching.
The two’s hearts were pounding. Luo De had seen Jiang Chenyan before.
They didn’t know if their clumsy disguise would work.
Would changing his pupil and hair color be enough?
…
The man in black beside them was already losing his patience. Seeing Jiang Chenyan wouldn’t move, “Brother Luo told you to lift your head, didn’t you hear? Are you deaf? Brother Luo, he’s a newcomer; he doesn’t know the rules here.”
Jiang Chenyan’s Adam’s apple rolled. He slowly lifted his head, the fragmented hair on his forehead falling down, just happening to cover half of one eye and blurring his original contours.
Luo De leaned over to stare at his face, sizing him up with a scrutinizing gaze: “A newcomer?”
