Chapter 76: Am I Handsome?
Qi Ye admitted he was going crazy with jealousy.
She had never touched his.
His gaze swept over Shen Yuâs chest.
In what way are my chest muscles inferior to his?
Yet when the words reached his lips, all that remained was a forced calm:
“If thatâs the case, then the men of the Shen family are truly cheap.”
Shen Yu wasn’t annoyed at all, acting as if he hadn’t heard Qi Yeâs words. He simply put on his clothes with agile grace, his eyes looking at Chi Wan as if they were brimming with water:
“Guide Chi Wan, about letting me be your Designated Sentinel… how is your consideration going?”
…
“Itâs time to set off. Where are those two?”
Outside the safe zone, Li Su walked past the ranks of Sentinels. Not a trace of Qi Ye or Shen Yu could be seen.
“Reporting to Commander Li, we do not know.”
Li Su withdrew his gaze from the Sentinels and turned toward the approaching Pei Yuan.
Those deep gray eyes behind the lenses, which were noticeably colder than usual, only gave a faint glance:
“Our K3 Base is setting off first.”
There was still a bruise on the corner of his jaw, and his every movement lacked his usual composure.
As SSS-rank Commanders, they had naturally sensed the sudden burst of energy fluctuations from the spaceship earlier and could easily distinguish the attributes. Li Su said nothing, merely watching in silence as Pei Yuan walked away.
Shi Ye walked up from behind.
“You guys set off first. Iâll wait for them here.”
Although they had only worked together for two or three months, Li Su had a decent understanding of the other Commanders.
None of the seven men holding high positions lacked pride. There was always a subtle layer of distance between them, and they rarely communicated outside of official business. Shi Ye, in particularâthe one who spoke the leastâwas like a lone wolf.
To hear him say such a thing was extremely rare.
However, Li Su didn’t interfere. He just said in a low voice:
“Fine. Weâre heading out first.”
After speaking, he looked at Cang Lin in the distance. “Let’s go.”
Vehicles could not enter the space-time rift, so everyone had to travel on foot.
Behind Cang Lin, Hui Ji asked in a low voice:
“Commander, didn’t you say you wanted to talk to Guide Chi Wan about becoming Designated partners?”
Cang Linâs expression was dark as he strode forward:
“Iâm not going anymore.”
Going would only be asking for humilitation.
The main force soon disappeared into the pollution mist, leaving only the K1 Base.
Within the pollution barrier, the mist shifted in density. Shi Yeâs gaze moved toward the area behind the spaceship.
“Commander, why not just go find her?”
Meng Qi, the Deputy Commander of the K1 Base, followed Shi Yeâs line of sight, full of confusion.
Their Commander had clearly asked about Guide Chi Wanâs location through Hei Mi. Why didn’t he go directly to her and instead chose to wait here?
Shi Ye didn’t speak, he just withdrew his gaze.
“What do you know? The Commander said that in battle, one must avoid exposing one’s desires too early. When you throw a punch, it must be a hidden punch.”
“Shut up. Can this be the same thing?”
“How is it different? Stealing a Guide is just like fighting a Polluted Entityâit also requires strategy.”
Amidst the Sentinels’ whispered discussion, Shi Ye suddenly looked up toward the rear.
Behind the corner of the spaceship, Chi Wan, with her silver hair, came running over as if fleeing for her life.
She ran incredibly fast, as if she had finally escaped from a “crematorium.”
“Guide Chi Wan, where is our Commander?”
Hei Mi was the first to greet her. Chi Wan didn’t have time to say anything else and just pointed behind her. Immediately after, she felt a tall figure approaching.
Shi Yeâs voice was highly recognizableâlow and husky:
“Shall we set off together, Guide Chi Wan?”
…
Cang Lin, who was preparing to enter the space-time rift, sensed the crowd approaching from behind.
“They’re here.”
“It’s the people from the K1 Base.”
Amidst the Sentinels’ voices, he turned around.
Within the mist, he could vaguely see the figure of a girl with silver-white hair looking charming atop the massive Black Wolf King.
With just one look, the 92% Violence Value on his light-brain inexplicably jumped to 93%.
Cang Lin suppressed the raging mental energy within his body, his brow furrowing tightly.
The small black-and-gold dragon manifested. The wounded little dragon looked toward the Black Wolf King carrying Chi Wan, its head swaying and tail wagging, full of longing.
It even let out a faint, aggrieved dragon roar.
“She doesn’t like you. During that operation when you carried her, she didn’t give you any mental soothing either. Stay quiet. Don’t embarrass yourself.”
Cang Lin warned the little Golden Dragon in a low voice. In the next second, the Golden Dragon glared at Cang Lin with its fierce golden eyes. The dragon sound it made was only understood by Cang Lin:
[She hates YOU, not me, Little Dragon!]
“You!”
He was speechless.
His tall frame stood straight on the spot, his golden eyes filled with complex emotions.
[Little Dragon here is being made miserable by a useless master! Waaaah…]
The Golden Dragonâs aggrieved voice gave Cang Lin a headache.
He took a deep breath and turned to look at the girl behind him.
Fine. If it’s humiliation, so be it.
This wasn’t Planet A-3; there were no tribesmen here who had grown up admiring him. Losing a bit of face in front of his subordinates was nothing.
Thinking this, Cang Lin turned to look at Hui Ji behind him. He cleared his throat and set his face into a solemn expression:
“Hui Ji, I have a question.”
Hui Ji immediately stood up straight. “Please ask, Commander!”
“This face of mine… is it handsome?”
Not expecting this question, Hui Ji was stunned.
He looked at the Commander standing before himâhis honey-toned skin was masculine and sharp, and his noble aura under his dragon bloodline was impossible to hide. He was tall and sturdy, with a broad back and narrow waist, and his features were deep and well-defined yet exquisite.
No matter how you looked at it, he was a hunk among hunks, a man among men.
But what confused Hui Ji even more was: Hasn’t our Commander always been quite confident?
Why would he ask such a question?
He nodded repeatedly. “Handsone! Isn’t that common knowledge? Which girl from which family on Planet A-3 wouldn’t want to marry you?”
Cang Lin remained silent for two seconds before continuing:
“Help me see if my hairstyle is messy anywhere.”
Hui Ji felt even more confused, but he still spoke the truth:
“The hairstyle is fine, Commander.”
The footsteps of the main force behind them grew closer. Cang Lin acted unperturbed:
“Good.”
As that aura he found irresistible drew closer, he turned his stiff face and looked at Chi Wan atop the Wolf King.
She was currently saying something to Shi Ye.
Clearing his throat, Cang Lin spoke in a low voice:
“Chi Wan, I sincerely invite you to be my Designated Guide. Mention any conditions; I can fulfill them all.”
THWACKâ
A massive wolf tail swept over. As luck would have it, it struck Cang Lin right in the face.
The fluffy wolf tail swallowed most of his words.
Chi Wan didn’t see Cang Lin below being blocked by the wolf tail at all. She was merely amused by Shi Yeâs words and let out a soft laugh.
Then, she completely disappeared into the space-time rift.
The air returned to silence.
Only the light from the space-time rift flickered on Cang Linâs profile.
He slowly closed his eyes. Under Hui Jiâs cautious questioning, he looked toward the rift with a calm face:
“Set off.”
His voice showed not a trace of anything out of the ordinary.
Only the depths of his eyes were dark and angry.
That wolf tail… was a bit too coincidental!
