Chapter 78: Acting Pitiful
Chi Wan had been pulled away by a powerful force similar to a whirlpool.
Her vision blurred, and she appeared in the gray, murky seawater.

Chi Wan swam even faster, but her path was blocked by a large school of fish above her.
In the next second, she saw the mutated Kun-Whale open its massive mouth and swim toward her at high speed!
The massive impact almost shattered her internal organs.
Then, Chi Wan’s vision went dark as she was squeezed by the powerful water pressure.

“Truly miraculous. The Commander said there was an abnormality in the water and told us to fish around.
Deputy Commander Hui Ji joked that we might fish out a mermaid, but who would have thought it was actually true!

Cang Lin gave a sideways glance at the subordinate beside him, and the Sentinel sensibly shut his mouth.

He had saved her, delayed the exploration progress for over three hours for her sake, and used every instrument and means available. Even the only two precious high-potency healing agents had been given to her.
Even what he had done just now was out of concern for her safety, without a single ulterior motive.
And this was how she repaid him?
The annoyance in his golden eyes completely vanished when he saw Chi Wan’s somewhat fearful, shrinking movement. It turned into a dispirited darkness:
“Why were you in the polluted seawater? Weren’t you following the K1 Base?”
Chi Wan looked around. Only after confirming she was safe did she quickly sort out her thoughts:

As Cang Lin spoke, he turned away and no longer looked at her. To avoid her loathing, he even created more distance between them:
“Follow the A1 Base. It’s almost dark, and we need to hurry to the center to gather.”
Sensing her standing up, he was just about to leave when he noticed from the corner of his eye that her body was unstable. He threw away all his concerns and instinctively reached out to support her.
After stabilizing her, his warm and powerful hand quickly withdrew.
The Sentinels, led by Hui Ji, turned away and busied themselves upon seeing this.
Chi Wan took a step back and thanked them politely:
“Thank you to the A1 Base for saving me.”
As she spoke, her gaze landed on the instruments and high-potency healing agents scattered around.
High-potency healing agents were the most precious medicines, impossible to buy even with a fortune.
Chi Wan suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. She had… just slapped him. She looked at the 93% Violence Value on his light-brain and for the first time, took the initiative to invite him for soothing:

His golden eyes stared at her fixedly. Before he could even open his mouth, that little Golden Dragon soared out like a scene-stealer, howling with dragon cries.
The miniature Golden Dragon struggled and twisted before Chi Wan. Its miserable dragon face squeezed out two dragon tears, using all its body language to express how fragile, helpless, pitiful, and pained it was.
It practically made Chi Wan’s heart melt.
The little Golden Dragon’s “physical performance” of its own misery wasn’t enough. In the end, its dragon body slumped onto Cang Lin’s arm, perfectly drawing Chi Wan’s gaze to the light-brain.
In the next second, Chi Wan saw the Violence Value on the light-brain rising like bamboo shoots.

Not only that, for every percentage point it rose, the Golden Dragon would let out a tragic howl, like a live-action version of a tear-jerker BGM player.
Cang Lin’s face darkened, and the veins on his forehead throbbed.
For the first time in his life, he felt this dragon bloodline was truly embarrassing and unpresentable.
He looked at Chi Wan, but surprisingly found that she really fell for the “pitiful dragon” act.
Her eyes were filled with sympathy, and her voice lacked the usual distance and rejection she had when speaking to him.
It was gentle and soft: “I can see you’re in a lot of pain. Don’t worry, I’ll help you now.”
Cang Lin’s eyes lit up.
Who said this dragon lineage was unpresentable? This dragon lineage is incredibly presentable.
Moved by the little Golden Dragon’s hard work in acting pitiful, Chi Wan temporarily forgot about its unlikable master and gently released her Spirit Body to soothe the dragon.
Almost as soon as the silver kitten approached, the Golden Dragon expanded several times. It instantly transformed from a cute little dragon into a majestic Dragon King, completely swallowing the kitten.
Chi Wan’s face flushed. Shi Ye immediately noticed her state and forcibly controlled his Spirit Body to remain calm.
The Golden Dragon’s grip softened significantly, but it still clung tightly to the kitten.
