Chapter 80: Yun Qi’s Hatred
“Commander, what’s wrong?”
Hui Ji and the others didn’t know what had happened to Cang Lin; they only saw him suddenly kneel on the ground in extreme pain.
“Help me into the abandoned building.”
His low voice seemed to struggle with every word he uttered.
The pain in that spot was worse than ten thousand arrows piercing the heart. If it weren’t for his Beyond-SSS-rank energy and mental power desperately suppressing it, he would have been almost unable to stand.
Cang Lin was helped all the way into the abandoned building, where he dismissed his subordinates to heal alone.
He didn’t delay for long, walking out with pale lips.
Seeing that the silver-white figure wasn’t among the crowd outside the building, his gaze dimmed.
Hui Ji spoke respectfully: “Commander, you don’t look well. Why don’t you use the treatment device for a bit longer?”
Cang Lin shook his head. “No time. Let’s set off.”
The two bases advanced together, making the exploration even faster.
The Golden Dragon was injured and couldn’t come out to fight. The Beyond-SSS-rank Cang Lin charged at the front alone with his weapon. His formidable combat power was invincible, but the low pressure around him still made the Sentinels of the A1 Base perceive their Commander’s displeasure.
No one dared to ask more, just following behind to accelerate the exploration.
After passing through the desolate ruins, they reached the deep-sea area. The jagged rocks on the surface of the sea were uneven, so the Sentinels could only carefully cross the rocks in sequence.
Chi Wan walked among the group. Stepping onto the slippery sea rocks, she watched as polluted entities from the sea bed surged up and leaped out of the water to attack the Sentinel group.

Chi Wan, like everyone else, had received their gathering message earlier. All the bases had arrived, waiting only for these two.
Before Chi Wan could even step onto the rock, she was snatched away by a silver python coil.
“Everyone is here. There is now a very serious problem.”
Li Su spoke, looking at the two newly arrived bases:
“The true center of the Sea of Lost Souls is not here, but on the seabed.”
The seabed?
The Sentinels looked at the surface of the sea with shocked expressions.
Even with respirators, no one could stay underwater for long, not to mention fighting entities under extreme water pressure.
“Then doesn’t that mean only Yun Qi can go down?”
Li Su didn’t reply, he just looked toward the silent and cold Commander at the edge of the rock.
At the edge of the crag, waves crashed one after another. The gray polluted seawater exuded despair and deathly silence.
The seawater splashed against Yun Qi, yet it didn’t wet him in the slightest.
The noisy waves almost swallowed the sound of the group’s discussion.
Yun Qi’s eyes as he watched the sea were infinitely calm:
“I can take one more person down with me.”
Li Su looked at him. “Then who will you take?”
Yun Qi’s gaze moved toward Cang Lin, who had the highest martial power present.
Cang Lin looked at him with his arms crossed and told him honestly:
“I’m injured. My Spirit Body cannot fight. My current combat power might be inferior to the other Commanders.”
Hearing this, Yun Qi lowered his eyes indifferently.
That splash of silver being protected by Qi Ye was extremely eye-catching; it was hard not to notice.
The seabed was an even more heavily polluted area. If Cang Lin couldn’t fight, then the SSS-rank Chi Wan was the best choice.
But he loathed her and hated her too much.
Anyone would do, but it could absolutely not be her.
He made his choice almost instantly. Yun Qi looked at Li Su:
“Commander Li, come with me.”
Li Su could naturally see Yun Qi’s thoughts. After considering it seriously for a moment, he ultimately wanted to consider the big picture:
“The Sea of Lost Souls is related to whether we can break the important barrier of the Polluted Entities. The pollution intensity on the seabed is extremely high. Are you sure you don’t want to consider bringing a Guide?”
“No need.”
In the gray mist, Yun Qi’s jaw was cold and lonely.
“Fine.”
Li Su didn’t try to persuade him further.
Through trials by fire, he had never feared battle.
“The person who makes a mental contract with me will gain the approval of the sea, possessing the same underwater abilities as my tribesmen. However, the temporary contract lasts for one day at most. We must return within 24 hours.”
As Yun Qi spoke, he handed Li Su a short knife.
The two stood facing each other at the head of the crowd. Amidst the sound of crashing waves, the sea breeze made their combat uniforms rustle—solemn and dignified.
Li Su used the short knife to make a swift cut on his wrist. Immediately after, from behind Yun Qi, a translucent lake-blue Kun-Whale leaped up!
Accompanied by an extremely beautiful whale cry, the Kun-Whale—a lineage long extinct and rare—had a unique body structure. The scales on its tail shimmered with exotic light, trailing brilliant, fragmented blue light as beautiful as the stars.
The Kun-Whale opened its blue eyes and, following its master’s instructions, began searching for a target for the contract.
Its beautiful eyes locked onto Li Su, but it was soon attracted by the mental power behind the crowd.
That was a mental power that was irresistibly attractive to it. It almost couldn’t resist as soon as it sensed even a trace. Its massive whale body quickly turned around, heading straight toward the rear!
Yun Qi sensed his Spirit Body’s intense longing and tried to control it. However, the Kun-Whale had already released a massive amount of mental power. The power flew entirely toward Chi Wan’s location, merging into her blood through the wound on her ankle!
The surge of energy within his body and the change in mental power informed Yun Qi.
The contract had been sealed.
His brow furrowed tightly, but then he let it go as if resigning to fate.
Qi Ye naturally noticed Chi Wan’s abnormality:
“It made a temporary contract with you?”
Chi Wan nodded obediently. Meeting various gazes, she walked forward.
“If I remember correctly, once this temporary contract is sealed, another contract cannot be made until it expires.”
Li Su put away his short knife. “In that case, we’ll have to trouble you.”
As he spoke, his black eyes looked toward Chi Wan, who was walking over with a miserable face. Thinking she was unwilling to fight, his eyes darkened slightly.
She was so brave in the space-time rift; was it really just because she was forced by desperate circumstances?
Chi Wan was truly miserable.
Although she had had almost no contact with Yun Qi since arriving here, the original host had deeply offended him.

Taking his life while he was sick.

The memory ended, and Chi Wan pursed her lips.
She naturally knew that Yun Qi would hate her. she didn’t understand his personality. If he was another one of those sullen and ruthless types like Pei Yuan who would quietly send her to a dead end without the System present, wouldn’t she be a goner?
At this moment, Chi Wan wasn’t the only one afraid.
The Kun-Whale, which had been looking toward Chi Wan’s direction with joy and anticipation, suddenly shrank its body several times upon seeing her face clearly. It hid behind Yun Qi.
It seemed to recall the tragic experience at the medical room that day, its blue whale eyes full of fear and unease.
Yun Qi recalled his Spirit Body and looked coldly at the surging sea.
Without saying another word, he walked forward alone.
“If you’re afraid, don’t go.”
Qi Ye took Chi Wan’s hand, only to find it was terrifyingly cold.
