Chapter 91: Just Cooperate a Little
Wen Ling pointed his index fingers at himself, looking a bit incredulous. “Take a picture of me?”
“Mm.”
“Youāre taking one of me?”
“Of course Iām taking one of you. Are you unwilling?” Cheng Ge asked.
“Iām willing.” Wen Ling was willing to let Cheng Ge take his photo. That was Cheng Geās exclusive right. The concept of having someone take a photo of just him was too foreign and felt a bit strange.
“What do I need to do?” Wen Ling was rarely at a loss.
“Nothing special, just like this is fine.” Cheng Ge wasn’t particularly good at taking photos himself; he just suddenly felt it would be a pity not to record certain moments.
Moments that seemed ordinary now would surely have meaning in the future.
And so, Wen Ling sat on the bed while Cheng Ge moved around him, snapping a few shots. However, neither of them seemed to have found their “groove,” so the photos made Wen Ling look quite dazed.
Wen Lingās expression was stiff, and because Cheng Ge was shooting from a high angle, Wen Lingās large eyes kept staring directly into the screen. He looked cute, very cute, but he also looked sillyāexcessively so.
After finishing the shoot, Cheng Ge stared at the screen and laughed to himself for a while. Wen Ling craned his neck, eagerly leaning over to see, but Cheng Ge insisted he looked “deadly cute” while refusing to show him.
He was afraid of being bitten.
After adjusting the angle for a while longer, Cheng Ge said to Wen Ling, “How about you try to smile?”
Wen Ling was annoyed that Cheng Ge wouldn’t show him the finished product and refused to cooperate. It took several kisses from Cheng Ge to coax him back into a good mood.
However, his smile also looked a bit silly.
Cheng Ge suddenly wanted to tease Student Wen, saying with a grin, “Xiao Wen, do a ‘Yeah’ (peace sign).”
Wen Ling tentatively extended his fingers into a “scissor hand.” Cheng Ge nodded. “Put it against your face, Yeah.”
Wen Ling pressed the peace sign against his cheek. Cheng Ge let out a cheerful “Yeah!” but Wen Ling refused to mimic him, turning his head and burying himself in the quilt.
“Aiya, Xiao Wen, just cooperate a little,” Cheng Ge went over to pull him out of the blankets, his eyes curving into crescents. That drawn-out tone of his was incredibly alluring to Wen Ling. “Xiao Wen, Xiao Wen, Xiao Wen… I really want to take this for you.”
Wen Lingās soul was halfway lost to Cheng Ge, but that sense of embarrassment was still there. He spoke with a rare touch of bashfulness, “You keep laughing at me. You’re playing with me.”
Cheng Ge laughed even more merrily, saying reproachfully, “How am I playing with you? Hmm?”
Wen Ling didn’t know how to respond. He kept burrowing into Cheng Geās arms. On one hand, he was so flustered his eyes were turning watery; on the other, he wondered why Cheng Ge was like this today.
It made him love it, yet feel a bit… awkward.
At this point, Wen Ling didn’t yet realize that when Cheng Ge truly relaxed and took the initiative to be intimate, he was simply irresistibleāat least, Wen Ling couldn’t resist him.
In the end, Wen Ling was coaxed into posing for a “Yeah” and even a “Ding-gua-gua” (excellent/thumbs up).
“I want to take one with you.” Wen Ling wanted to do everything with Cheng Ge; naturally, he couldn’t be the only one in the photos.
“Sure.” Cheng Ge realized that he and Wen Ling didn’t have a single photo together yet. They really should take one.
He switched the phone to the front-facing camera. Looking at himself and Wen Ling on the screen, the image showed Wen Ling tilting his head, staring at his side profile with extreme seriousness.
Cheng Ge cleared his throat and held up a peace sign above Wen Lingās head, his tone very cheerful: “Xiao Wen, look at the lens.”
Then Wen Ling looked toward the phone screen, staring at the Cheng Ge in the display. This moment was frozen in time.
Cheng Ge froze for a moment, lowering his eyes to gaze at the photo for a long while.
Truly, no one else would be like this.
Stuck to Cheng Ge, Wen Ling also looked at it for a long time, then suddenly asked, “Do I really look like this?”
Cheng Ge wasn’t sure what Wen Ling meant by that, but he instinctively answered, “Yeah.”
Perhaps due to the camera angle, Wen Lingās eyes were slightly enlarged and his face appeared smaller, making him look more “Q-version,” but one could still tell it was Wen Ling at a glance.
Wen Ling went silent for a moment, then said, “My eyes are so big.”
Cheng Ge: “Right?”
“It’s a bit scary.”
“Ah… huh?” Cheng Ge thought his ears had played a trick on him. Wen Ling thought his own big eyes were scary?
“No, itās… itās cute. Really. What kind of misunderstanding do you have about yourself?”
Wen Ling shook his head, leaning against Cheng Geās arm while clutching it. His voice was very small: “As long as Cheng Ge thinks I’m cute, it’s fine.”
Cheng Ge let out a soft “Ah,” not knowing how to respond. Should he comfort him? Correct him? Or explain something else? He didn’t know.
“Anyway,” Cheng Ge chose to switch to a topic that would make Wen Ling happy. “Shall we rest a bit after lunch and then go move your things? We’ll live here from now on.”
“Okay,” Wen Lingās head nodded rhythmically, his tone clingy and full of dependence. “Cheng Ge, you’re so good to me.”
This kind of flattery was very effective on Cheng Ge, but Cheng Ge didn’t want Wen Ling to be overly dependent on others. Subjectively, he didn’t mind, but objectively, it wasn’t good.
“Xiao Wen, actually, Iām not that great. You can be good to yourself too, even better.”
Wen Ling looked up. “Are you unwilling to be good to me anymore?”
“Huh?”
“Is Cheng Ge never going to be good to me again?”
Cheng Ge stared at Wen Lingās worried little face, feeling both annoyed and amused. This guyās train of thought was like a mountain road with eighteen bends, and it always ended up turning onto the worst, most ridiculous path.
He said those silly things with such a straight face.
Cheng Ge flicked Wen Lingās forehead with his finger. “Stop overthinking.”
“I was just asking.”
“You weren’t thinking it?” Cheng Ge now knew Wen Ling had many little schemes, so he intentionally asked, “What if I say no?”
Wen Lingās eyes widened a degree, incredulous that Cheng Ge could be like this. “Then… then Iāll go crazy.”
Cheng Ge raised an eyebrow and smiled. “You’re so honest.” The “going crazy” Wen Ling mentioned probably meant his brain would stop functioningāCheng Ge had experienced that.
“Cheng Ge,” Wen Lingās voice carried a softness. “Be good to me forever and ever, and I’ll be very good to you too.”
Cheng Ge first said “Mm,” then said “We’ll see,” and finally lowered his head, his tone inexplicably complex: “I’ll try my best.”
“You will do it, Cheng Ge.”
As Wen Ling continued talking, Cheng Ge realized that this guy really had a way with words.
It was the same when he bit him last time. Wen Lingās pitiful vibe when asking “Will you never let me bite you again?” was exactly the same as “Is Cheng Ge never going to be good to me again?” Usually, Cheng Geās heart would soften at this step.
Just now, when he jokingly said “no,” Wen Ling said he’d go crazy to scare him, only to be praised for his honesty. There was no other way; heād just have to trade equallyāthey would be good to each other. It carried a hint of being unreasonably entangled.
In the end, it turned back into praising Cheng Ge again, making him believe in that philosophy.
Although it was likely unintentional and just the way Wen Ling thought, it was actually quite brilliantāat least, it had Cheng Ge completely wrapped around his finger.
Cheng Ge saw that Wen Ling was still blissfully immersed in the theory of them being good to each other, and he felt the person was truly “silly-cute,” always making him want to both be angry and laugh.
“Since you’re so good at talking, I should send you to a debate competition.”
Wen Ling grabbed Cheng Geās arm and scratched it. “Iām not going. Don’t send me.”
“Iām sending you.”
“Iām not going, don’t send me.” That tone was drawn out with extreme reluctance.
Seeing Wen Ling being so serious, Cheng Ge laughed even more merrily, almost without restraint. He only stopped after being bitten, laughing sheepishly and apologetically as he quieted down.
After lunch, Cheng Ge asked Wen Ling for his phone and watched the video once, along with the deleted ones. It was very clear who was being unreasonable and who was in the right.
Cheng Ge returned the phone to Wen Ling. After a moment of hesitation, he asked, “How about I help you settle this matter?”
