I Raised a Cub in the Military Academy Chapter 19.1

Chapter 19: Orders part 1

Almost the very next moment after Yun Yingzhi transferred the money, he received a communication request from Yun Yinghui.

Yun Yingzhi rejected it, guiltily making up an excuse: [The roommates are all asleep; I can’t take a call right now.]

[Yun Yinghui: Why did you suddenly transfer money to me?]

Yun Yingzhi thought to himself that he would always give half of the first money he earned through any means to Yun Yinghui. This had been the case since the first time he earned a wage assisting Alvin, the first Source Weapon he sold, the red envelopes he received, and so on…

This was Yun Yingzhi’s way of expressing how much he valued Yun Yinghui.

In his heart, Yun Yingzhi told Yun Yinghui that although these one hundred credits were small in number, they were significant funds earned with the spirit of “conquering the world” alongside two minors. Of course, he had to give half to his brother.

Yun Yingzhi selectively chose to forget that this money was obtained by “selling his body” for victory.

After finishing the private messages with Yun Yinghui, Yun Yingzhi looked at A-Hao and asked him to continue queuing for matches.

Regrettably, something suddenly came up on A-Qing’s end, and he had to leave.

With one person missing for a 3V3, they couldn’t continue.

Shortly after A-Qing left, A-Hao also received a private message and followed suit. Suddenly, Yun Yingzhi was left all alone.

Yun Yingzhi adjusted the brim of his hat, pondered for a moment, and decided to check on the status of Wei Yuanqing’s five-man team.

With one look, Yun Yingzhi felt their five-man team was truly tragic. They had lost their fourth match and were now queued for their fifth.

Yun Yingzhi immediately purchased a spectator ticket for their fifth match and entered the arena.

He arrived just in time. The passage from the waiting room to the combat platform opened, and Wei Yuanqing and the other four appeared within the transparent glass walkway.

Among the five members of the Carrot Team, Wei Yuanqing stood at the very front, while the four behind him followed listlessly, their heads hanging low.

Having achieved three wins in three matches, Yun Yingzhi looked at the five people who were currently zero-for-four with a look of pity. How tragic.

Thinking this, Yun Yingzhi tilted his small chin up, feeling exceptionally proud.

A spectator sitting next to Yun Yingzhi said, “That Carrot Team… I heard their strength is very mediocre.”

Yun Yingzhi: “…” The Carrot Team was practically damaging the reputation of their Empire’s First Military Academy!

On second thought, it was lucky no one knew they were students of Fense Academy; otherwise, a four-match losing streak would be quite embarrassing.

The person next to that spectator added, “Right, Carrot Team. A newly formed team with four consecutive losses. They’re especially weak. If their opponent this time wasn’t the Tiancheng Team, I wouldn’t have even come to watch.”

“Tsk, is there even a point in watching a battle between these two teams?”

“There’s no suspense, is there?”

Despite saying so, it didn’t stop them from watching. Even if the battle lacked suspense, they wanted to support every match the Tiancheng Team played.

The battle on the platform began.

Yun Yingzhi once again felt the disparity of the world. His three 3V3 matches… had been relatively smooth, all things considered. In comparison, the 5V5 for Wei Yuanqing and the others was a bloodbath.

For their fifth match following the four losses, they directly encountered a “Golden Team” composed of one Level 9 Ability Warrior, three Level 8 warriors, and one Level 7 warrior.

Except for Wei Yuanqing, the moment the battle began, the other four teammates were instantly wiped out, leaving him alone.

However, Wei Yuanqing surpassed everyone’s expectations.

An ordinary Level 8 Ability user facing such a formidable team in a 1V5 situation would usually barely last any time at all, but Wei Yuanqing held out for a full two minutes.

During those two minutes of combat, ideas gushed through Yun Yingzhi’s brain like a spring. As a fragile little rabbit, his lifelong philosophy was that if one lacked strength, they had to make up for it with equipment. His brain had already begun calculating and designing a Source Weapon suitable for Wei Yuanqing.

Two minutes later, green vines carried Wei Yuanqing to the very edge of the platform. His warm, pleasant voice reached everyone’s ears: “I forfeit.”

In the stands, the audience members who hadn’t thought much of the Carrot Team before the match had now completely changed their views—or rather, they changed their views on Wei Yuanqing alone, and they began to speak well of him.

On the platform, the referee announced that the Tiancheng Team had secured the victory for this match.

The five members of the Carrot Team left through the special passage.

Wei Yuanqing stood at the front, while the other four followed him with their spirits crushed, radiating an aura of having lost all will to live.

Yun Yingzhi followed the flow of the crowd out of the arena.

Opening his personal terminal, he pondered a serious question: in this delicate atmosphere, should he contact Wei Yuanqing and the others?

He felt that contacting them after their five consecutive losses—especially when he had a three-match winning streak while they had a five-match losing streak—would be like stabbing them in the heart.

No, that wasn’t right either. Theoretically, even if there were many suspicious points… Wei Yuanqing and the others…

Wouldn’t necessarily be able to guess that “One Mighty Little White Rabbit” was him… right? Yun Yingzhi wasn’t even sure himself anymore.

Before Yun Yingzhi could reach a conclusion, Wei Yuanqing sent him a private message first.

[Wei Yuanqing: Yingzhi, where are you?]

Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids twitched. He was too embarrassed to say he had just watched their fifth match.

After hesitating, he replied: [I just finished watching a battle between some other teams.]

Yun Yingzhi didn’t realize that the word “other” in his reply might sound a bit too defensive.

A short moment later, Wei Yuanqing replied: [Come over.]

Yun Yingzhi thought that, regardless of Wei Yuanqing’s mood, his three roommates who had lost five times in a row probably needed comfort.

He replied: [Okay.]

Wei Yuanqing provided Yun Yingzhi with his coordinates.

Unlike ordinary customers, as the genuine young master of the Yaoming Group, Wei Yuanqing had a high-tier VIP lounge exclusive to him.

Following the address given by Wei Yuanqing, Yun Yingzhi took the elevator all the way up.

The layout of the Yaoming Battle Arena was quite marvelous. Every arena had two waiting rooms where the participating warriors could enter the field, while high-tier VIP lounges were established on the upper floors, possessing direct paths to any battle arena.

Shortly after, Yun Yingzhi arrived on the 28th floor.

When the elevator opened, staff members were waiting outside. After verifying his identity, they respectfully led Yun Yingzhi into the high-tier VIP lounge.

When the door opened, the first thing he saw was a spacious hall.

In the living room was a U-shaped sofa. Wei Yuanqing occupied the most spacious section alone, while Yu Feiwen and the other two sat pitifully on the sides.

Theoretically, there should have been a fifth person in the team, but perhaps the five consecutive losses were too demoralizing; the temporary teammate was gone, leaving only the four familiar faces.

Yun Yingzhi cautiously observed the four of them.

In Fense Academy, although Wei Yuanqing was called a “Sea King,” his reputation was actually quite good. He was said to be a refined, elegant man, like a piece of warm jade.

However, after the five losses, Wei Yuanqing couldn’t quite maintain his persona. Instead of warm jade, he gave off the vibe of a cold, bloody jade with “crazy-batch” attributes.

The atmosphere in the room was somewhat stifling.

Seeing Yun Yingzhi, Wei Yuanqing softened his expression and beckoned him over, signaling him to sit down.

Yun Yingzhi had absolutely no intention of “plucking the tiger’s whiskers” and obediently sat down next to Wei Yuanqing.

Wei Yuanqing looked at Yu Feiwen and the others, the corners of his lips curving slightly. His aura seemed normal, and on the surface, his appearance was flawless. He asked, “Regarding the five matches just now, what are your thoughts?”

Following Wei Yuanqing’s words, Yu Feiwen and the other two hung their heads even lower.

Yun Yingzhi looked at them with pity, thinking it was lucky he had slipped away early; otherwise, he would be among those being lectured.

In truth, Wei Yuanqing hadn’t actually scolded them, but at this moment, everyone—including Yun Yingzhi—felt a mysterious sense of guilt. They felt they had let Wei Yuanqing down and that the five losses were all their fault.

Jing Haomiao said guiltily, “It’s all our fault. If only our strength were a bit higher.”

Next, without waiting for Wei Yuanqing to reply, Yu Feiwen and the others began to review the matches, competing to admit their mistakes for every detail from the first match to the fifth.
