Chapter 38: Lucky Day and Unlucky Day
Jiang Qing glanced at his watch: “Perfect, I know a late-night snack place that tastes pretty good, go together?”
Chi Jiong nodded almost immediately, afraid of being half a beat too slow. By the time he realized it, he noticed Lin Siyu was looking at him with a half-smile. He cleared his throat and spoke with feigned composure:
“Alright, it’s a good chance to try the place recommended by Second Young Master Jiang.”
The group of five walked toward the elevator. Jiang Linmu was entirely hanging off one of Jiang Qing’s arms, while Lin Siyu walked on Jiang Qing’s other side.
Chi Jiong followed behind Jiang Qing, walking together with Lin Siwu.
Chi Jiong actually hadn’t eaten much all night. At this moment, his stomach happened to feel empty, and his footsteps involuntarily followed a bit closer. Walking diagonally behind Jiang Qing, he could exactly see the other’s hair ends fluttering in the night breeze, and that section of nape faintly visible at the shirt collar.
Chi Jiong suddenly felt his throat go dry, subconsciously loosening his collar.
Lin Siwu, walking to the side, finally had the time to digest everything that had happened tonight.
His gaze first fell on the back profile in front. That person who amazed him at first sight, and then made his heartbeat erratic and at a loss for words at the dinner just now. At this moment, he was half-hung upon by his younger brother, yet his steps remained steady, turning his ear to listen to his older brother Lin Siyu’s occasional murmurs.
Lin Siwu felt a somewhat indescribable taste in his heart, like envying Jiang Linmu’s lack of scruples, and also like… feeling a subtle care towards his older brother’s natural closeness.
Then, his line of sight, carrying a bit of cautious excitement, quietly shifted to the person beside himβChi Jiong!
God knows how many connections he used and how many methods he thought of just to meet Chi Jiong once. But now, the other party was so realistically walking beside him.
One night!
Just one night!
Not only did he “randomly encounter” that older brother he couldn’t forget, but he also met Chi Jiong, whom he couldn’t invite even after three pleadings!
He secretly took a deep breath, trying to calm his excited state of mind.
Lin Siwu screamed silently in his heart: Tonight is definitely his lucky day!
And Jiang Linmu, walking in front, screamed silently in his heart: Tonight is definitely his unlucky day!
He looked with ill intent at the ill-intentioned Lin Siyu beside him.
He had already secretly ranked Lin Siyu’s annoyance level right below Song Lingchen’s in his heart.
Hypocritical.
Extremely hypocritical.
Feeling the increasingly tight, even painful grip, Jiang Qing finally couldn’t bear it and kicked Jiang Linmu.
“Ouch!” Jiang Linmu felt the pain, subconsciously let go, and looked at Jiang Qing aggrievedly, “Brother, why did you kick me?”
“If you squeeze any tighter, my arm will be useless.” Jiang Qing shook his numb arm and glared at him crossly, “Walk properly.”
This scene fell into the eyes of the three people nearby, with varying reactions.
Chi Jiong laughed out loud: “Little Mumu ah, being so clingy every day, be careful not to stick to the pot when you get cremated.”
Although Lin Siyu didn’t speak, a trace of amusement clearly flashed through his eyes, and he breathed a sigh of relief seeing Jiang Qing finally break free from the “human pendant”.
As for Lin Siwu, his eyes widenedβhe didn’t expect Jiang Qing, who looked so cold and otherworldly, to actually use his foot to kick someone and glare at them! This was completely different from the unearthly image he had imagined!
But strangely, looking at Jiang Qing shaking his hand with slight disgust, and looking at Jiang Linmu’s aggrieved yet un-rebellious appearance, he conversely felt that this Brother Jiang Qing was more real, more… vivid.
Why does that eye-roll feel inexplicably a bit exciting?
The moment this thought popped up, Lin Siwu was startled by himself.
What exactly was wrong with him tonight?

The group found a relatively quiet place to sit down.
This shop mainly sold seafood, and Jiang Qing was indeed a seafood lover, but his main purpose for coming here was more because…
“Qing Qing Qing!”
A delighted female voice rang out, accompanied by the crisp sound of high heels clicking against the floor.
The group looked up, only to see a beautiful woman with curly hair wearing a form-fitting red dress walking briskly toward them. Her makeup was exquisite. She walked straight towards Jiang Qing, opening her arms as if to give him a passionate hug.
Jiang Qing clearly anticipated this. The moment before she lunged over, he raised his hand and pushed against her shoulder.
“Sister Lan…” he said helplessly.
This beautiful woman called Sister Lan didn’t mind either. Maintaining the posture of being pushed by him, she smilingly bent over and leaned close to him, her red lips almost touching his ear:
“Qingqing, you haven’t come for so long, don’t you miss your sister?” The fragrance on her body instantly enveloped Jiang Qing.
At this moment, the reactions of the other four people at the table could be described as brilliantly diverse.
Jiang Qing leaned back slightly without changing his expression, avoiding the overly close distance: “Are there any of the small cakes left today? The special edition one.”
Only then did she stand up straight, playfully swatting his arm in feigned anger:
“I knew you were just here for my cake, not for me.” She said, her gaze sweeping over the other four handsome men at the table, whose expressions varied.
“Yo, brought friends today? All top-tier, Qingqing.”
Jiang Qing sighed helplessly: “Sister Lan…”
“You are always this cold every time.” Xia Yinlan stood straight, giving Jiang Qing a feigned resentful glance, her fingertips gently twirling the ends of her hair, “Last time you said you liked the sea salt cheese cake, I specifically saved a portion for you.”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted lightly over the other four people nearby, ultimately landing on Jiang Linmu, whose face was tense, and she let out a “pfft” laugh:
“This little brother is so interesting, eyes glaring so round, afraid I’ll eat your brother?”
Being called out on what was on his mind, Jiang Linmu’s face reddened, and he stiffened his neck to retort: “W-Who’s afraid!”
“Alright Sister Lan,” Jiang Qing opportunely interrupted this conversation that was gradually going off track, “Bring the cake first, and another portion of cheese baked lobster, as for the rest…” He lifted his eyes to look at the others, “What do you guys want to eat.”
Xia Yinlan finally put away her joking expression, nimbly taking out the ordering device: “Alright, we’ll listen to our Qingqing.”
She skillfully noted down the dishes, and before leaving, she bent over to lean close to Jiang Qing again, using a volume that wasn’t loud but enough for the whole table to hear, “Today’s new item ‘Raspberry Mousse’ also suits you very well, I’ll send you a piece to taste later.”
She turned and left, leaving the room filled with an almost imperceptible rose fragrance.
The table fell into a brief silence.
“Brother,” Jiang Linmu was the first unable to hold it in. He tugged at Jiang Qing’s sleeve and questioned quietly, “How are you so familiar with her? She was almost glued to your body just now!”
Lin Siyu didn’t speak, just picked up his water glass and drank slowly, his gaze landing on the arm where Sister Lan had patted Jiang Qing.
Chi Jiong, however, thoughtfully watched the direction Xia Yinlan had left.
Lin Siwu looked at this one, then that one, always feeling the atmosphere was weird, but couldn’t exactly point out where it was weird.
He scratched his head and decided to focus on the pictures of delicious food on the menu.
