After the Divorce, the Paranoid CEO Begs for a HE with His Life Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Staying a Few More Days to Cheat?

Hospital.

Jian An was placed on a gurney and pushed into the ward. Just as Ji Songting was about to follow the doctor inside, his phone rang.

It was Shen Chuyan.

He swiped to answer, his tone turning gentle. “Hello, Xiao Yan. What is it?”

“A-Ting, are you finished with your work? I’m scared staying in the ward alone. It’s thundering outside.”

Ji Songting’s expression turned anxious. He quickly asked, “Is Auntie Zhang not with you? I’ll head over right away.”

He hung up and turned to instruct Yang Rui before leaving. “Call me when he wakes up.”

“Yes, Ji-zong.”

Yang Rui watched his boss leave in a hurry, then turned to look at the ward, letting out a soul-weary sigh.

Since he’d already worked the guy half to death, was there really a need for a phone call…?

Ji Songting quickly pushed open the door to Chuyan’s ward. His gaze instinctively fell upon Shen Chuyan, who was curled up on the bed, shivering.

He walked over rapidly and pulled him into a tight embrace, soothing him with guilt.

“I’m sorry, I’m late. Don’t be afraid, Xiao Yan. Where’s Auntie Zhang? Why isn’t she here taking care of you?”

Shen Chuyan slowly raised his tear-streaked face and said aggrievedly, “I didn’t like her. I told her to leave.”

“Then we won’t use her next time. Let me peel an apple for you. Sit properly.”

Ji Songting carefully let go of him and gently wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes.

Shen Chuyan nodded obediently, his head lowered. “Today is… the anniversary of Auntie’s death, right? It’s a pity I’m sick and couldn’t go with you to pay my respects.”

“It’s fine. It happened to be raining today. Even if you wanted to go, I wouldn’t have allowed it.”

Speaking of the rain, Ji Songting involuntarily recalled the scene of Jian An kneeling in the storm. An unprovoked sense of irritability and gloom rose in his heart and gradually deepened.

Right now, he was accompanying Shen Chuyan. He shouldn’t be thinking about that bitch who killed his mother.

Shen Chuyan clearly noticed the man’s distracted state. A sense of crisis stirred within him. Without changing his expression, he said:

“A-Ting, if you keep peeling like that, there won’t be any apple left.”

Ji Songting was pulled back by his words. He immediately put down the small knife and handed the apple over.

“Sorry, I zoned out just now.”

“You’ve said ‘sorry’ twice already today.”

Shen Chuyan kicked off his blanket. The way his long eyelashes fluttered made him look very hurt. Usually, when Ji Songting was with him, he never got distracted. Today was indeed a bit strange.

Just as Ji Songting was about to explain, his phone rang again. This time, it was Yang Rui.

He listened to the assistant’s report, his face darkening. “Got it. I’m coming over now.”

Hanging up, Ji Songting looked at the person on the bed. “I’m going out for a bit. I’ll be back soon.”

Shen Chuyan bit into the apple and muttered:

“You just got here. Why are you leaving again? What could be more important than me…?”

“How could anything be more important than you?”

Shen Chuyan continued to press him. “Then tell me what it is. I want to know.”

Ji Songting took a deep, frustrated breath and said casually, “Jian An fainted. He’s awake now. I’m going to see if he’s dead or alive.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the door shut again.

Shen Chuyan hammered the bed in anger, throwing the half-eaten apple aside.

Ji Songting hadn’t mentioned a word about the divorce just now. It seemed he hadn’t managed to get past Ji’s father yet.

He would have to fight for himself.

On the other side, Jian An looked up at his IV drip, then at the man by the water dispenser. He said helplessly, “That’s enough, Yunheng. If you pour that much water, I won’t be able to finish it.”

“You should drink more water and eat more food so you don’t get gastritis. Be better to yourself.”

He handed the water to Jian An. Suddenly, he noticed the scar on Jian An’s forehead and his bright red hands. In an instant, he was filled with heartache and rage. His gentle tone became harsh:

“Did Ji Songting hit you again?!”

Jian An hurriedly covered his hands. “No, no. I accidentally hurt myself. It wasn’t him. Besides, I’ve already applied medicine. It’s nothing serious.”

“Xiao An, you don’t have to lie to me. This is clearly a burn. Doesn’t the Ji family have servants?”

Jian An smiled bitterly and hurriedly changed the subject. “Why did the Eldest Young Master suddenly come to the hospital today?”

Shen Yunheng knew he was intentionally avoiding the topic and couldn’t do anything about it. He answered truthfully:

“There wasn’t much at the company. I came to see Shen Chuyan. After all, blood-wise, we are brothers. But I happened to see you when passing your ward, so I came in.”

“Then you should go see him first.”

Shen Yunheng gazed at him with burning intensity.

“Xiao An, when are you going to divorce that man named Ji? It’s been three years. Look at how he treats you. Are you really going to keep loving him so devotedly?”

Jian An avoided his gaze, turning his head to look at the misted glass window. He said in a low voice:

“Yes. He is my everything.”

Shen Yunheng knew his stubborn temperament—he was the type who wouldn’t turn back even after hitting a wall. He also knew how much pain Jian An had endured loving Ji Songting for ten years.

He felt Jian An was truly too foolish.

Standing outside the door, Ji Songting took in the scene of the two talking and laughing. An irrepressible rage surrounded him from head to toe.

Something he didn’t want was still something others weren’t worthy of touching.

Moreover, seeing that Jian An still had the energy to flirt with another man while in a hospital bed, that previous fainting spell must have been an act, right?!

Ji Songting felt annoyed and disgusted.

Yang Rui was startled by the sub-zero chill radiating from his boss and wisely stood further away.

Then, he heard Ji Songting’s voice, which sounded like it had been dipped in ice water: “Process the discharge for Jian An. No need to get the medicine.”

Yang Rui hesitated. “Ah? Ji-zong… but the doctor said Mr. Jian needs to stay for a few days for clinical observation.”

“To stay a few days longer so they can cheat?”

“Don’t be angry, Ji-zong. I’ll go do it now!”

Ji Songting kicked the door open violently. Ignoring the surprised expressions of the two inside, he walked straight to the bedside and spoke coldly, “Irrelevant people, get lost.”

Shen Yunheng’s eyes were filled with hostility. He mocked:

“What do you mean? Shouldn’t you be in the ward accompanying my brother right now? You have time to come here?”

“I won’t say it a second time.”

Jian An knew that once Ji Songting said this, he was capable of anything. He immediately urged the person beside him:

“Yunheng, please leave. I’m begging you.”

Shen Yunheng looked at his pleading eyes and eventually softened. He turned toward the door and said, “For Xiao An’s sake, I won’t settle scores with you today.”

Ji Songting closed the door and slowly took off his gloves. The next second, he directly ripped the IV needle out of Jian An’s hand.

“Songting…”

Jian An shuddered in pain, tears leaking from the corners of his eyes. Immediately after, he was forcefully thrown off the bed.

“Finding a new lover so quickly?”

Ji Songting raised his deep, dark eyes, standing tall and handsome before him. One black leather shoe stepped ruthlessly onto the bleeding puncture wound on Jian An’s hand, slowly grinding down.
