Chapter 92: Deepening the Mark
The warm yellow light filled the room, casting Mo Xiao’s shadow long as he slowly walked to the bedside.
“Does it still hurt?”
Mo Xiao’s voice was low. His gaze fell on her furrowed brow, catching her hidden anxiety. Su Tang’s fingers curled slightly on the bedsheet. She finally bit her lip and looked up at him.
“Mo Xiao, I need you.”
Mo Xiao’s breath hitched. He looked at her small face so close to him, his Adam’s apple bobbing uncontrollably.
“What do you need me to do?”
His voice was incredibly raspy, and his fingertips nearly brushed her cheek.
“I’ve been trying to repair my barriers all day, but I still can’t mobilize enough spirit power. I want to deepen the Mark with you—to absorb more spirit power from you. Is that okay?”
Su Tang’s fingertips lightly touched his belt. The movement was a clumsy, tentative probe, and her voice grew softer.
“I want to repair my Sea of Consciousness faster so I can wake Zhan Ye up.”
The girl laid the reason out clearly before him. She wanted to deepen their connection, but it was for another Sentinel. This realization felt like a thin needle pricking his heart with a sour, stinging pain, yet he found himself unable to say no.
Her fingertips moved from his belt, inadvertently brushing against his waistline, instantly severing the last trace of hesitation in his heart. He suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms. Through the thin hospital gown, he could clearly feel the curve of her spine and her sudden, tense trembling.
“Have you thought this through?”
He bent down, his warm lips near her ear.
“Deepening the Mark isn’t as simple as just saying it, nor is it something that can be resolved with just a touch.”
The tips of Su Tang’s ears turned beet red. She knew, but she didn’t dare gamble. She didn’t dare gamble on whether Zhan Ye’s condition would worsen while she waited for her mind to recover naturally.
“I know… but I… I can’t wait any longer.”
“Fine. Then do your best to make me open up for you.”
The girl tilted her head slightly, and her fresh lips pressed against his. Mo Xiao could no longer restrain himself; he lowered his head and kissed her lips forcefully. His tongue pried open her teeth, greedily plundering her breath with a touch of resentment. Su Tang’s breathing went into disarray, and her body slumped weakly into his embrace.
Her body felt light as she was lifted and sat on his lap. His hand traveled slowly up her waistline, his warm palm pressing against her back, soothing her intermittently.
“Mmm…”
Su Tang couldn’t help but let out a soft moan, her voice carrying a trace of restless trembling as she instinctively pressed closer to him. Mo Xiao’s kisses moved downward—from the corner of her lips to her jaw, then to the delicate skin of her neck, leaving a trail of burning red marks. His hand gently unbuttoned her hospital gown, taking the sweetest part into his mouth.
“Mo Xiao…”
Her fingers gripped his collar, her voice thick with a nasal tone. Her body trembled slightly from the overstimulation, and moisture gathered at the corners of her eyes. Mo Xiao’s movements paused, followed by a sigh against her chest. Then, his movements slowed, and his kisses became gentle and teasing.
After an unknown amount of time, things gradually settled. Mo Xiao leaned his forehead against hers, his breathing heavy.
“I’ve opened myself up to you completely. Now, do whatever you need to do…”
Mo Xiao gripped Su Tang’s hand and pulled open his combat suit, revealing his broad chest. Beneath the white bandages, the begonia-colored star mark was exceptionally prominent.
“Your Mark is right here.”
Mo Xiao’s voice was incredibly soft. He held her hand, guiding her fingers to lightly stroke the Mark, his voice carrying a hint of temptation.
“If you want to deepen the Mark, inject your Guide Essence here.”
Guide Essence?
Su Tang’s face turned scarlet instantly. Her fair neck and exposed skin were dyed a shade of pink. Beneath her fingertips, the heart in his chest was beating vibrantly. She could clearly feel the warmth of his chest. Su Tang took a deep breath and slowly leaned toward his heart.
Mo Xiao’s breathing grew heavier. He watched her soft lips get closer and closer to his chest. His sharp Sentinel senses were enough to see her trembling eyelashes clearly. His heart hammered in his chest, and his breathing grew more rapid.
“Mmm…”
Finally, a warm sensation enveloped the Mark. All his muscles tensed, and the tingling sensation from that spot instantly swept through his entire body. Su Tang felt her face burning. Her tongue cautiously licked the Mark, carrying the unique sweet scent of Guide Essence. She felt Mo Xiao’s body jerk violently, and she could feel the Mark on his chest grow scorching hot under her touch.
She didn’t stop. Her lips applied a bit of pressure, and her teeth lightly grazed the spot. Mo Xiao’s spirit power seemed to find an outlet, surging out instantly. The begonia color of the Mark became increasingly vibrant.
As the color deepened, Su Tang clearly felt waves of warm heat filling her Sea of Consciousness. The silver-blue glow flashed even more brilliantly, happily releasing spirit threads to exchange friendly greetings with the incoming spirit power.
In her mind, the slight dull pain was covered by warmth. Su Tang felt so comfortable she nearly let out a soft moan. She instinctively leaned closer, greedily absorbing the warmth.
Mo Xiao’s hand gripped her waist tightly, pressing her firmly against him. Waves of white light flickered before his eyes, and a pleasure that could annihilate the soul hit him repeatedly.
“Su Tang…”
He called her name in a low, raspy voice filled with suppressed fire. If this continued, he really couldn’t guarantee he could still control himself. He could feel Su Tang’s hunger for his spirit power, but they really couldn’t go on any further.
“Stop. That’s enough for today.”
The man’s large hand gripped her waist, slightly separating them. Su Tang slowly looked up. When her lips left his chest, there was a trace of ambiguous moisture.
Su Tang’s face turned beet red instantly. The cool air hitting her chest made her pull the thin blanket from the bed tightly around herself. Sensing that the barriers in her mind were much more stable and that her entire body was filled with the man’s steady spirit power, a wave of warmth radiated from the inside out.
Mo Xiao calmly straightened his clothes. The friction of the fabric against that spot brought a bit of discomfort, making the fire in his heart grow stronger.
“That’s enough for today. I’m going now. You should rest…”
He nearly stumbled as he turned and left quickly, fearing that if he stayed for another second, he would do something out of control.
The door closed, and the room returned to silence. Su Tang reached out from under the blanket with trembling hands and covered her burning cheeks.
Honestly… she actually thought it tasted pretty good. Since when did she… slowly become this open as well…
Translator’s Note:
Things are heating up! 🔥 Both literally and figuratively.
A few notes on terms from this section:
- Guide Essence (嚮導素): In the Sentinel/Guide verse, this refers to the specialized “pheromones” or “biological elements” Guides use to soothe Sentinels. It’s often described as having a unique scent and a calming effect on a Sentinel’s violent spirit power.
- Deepening the Mark: A Mark is like a spiritual anchor. By “deepening” it, Su Tang is creating a stronger link to Mo Xiao’s spirit sea, allowing her to draw more of his energy into her own. It’s a very intimate act for Sentinels and Guides.
- The Moon Jellyfish (海月水母): Our girl finally has her own spiritual entity! And it’s a “predatory” one that can digest pollution? That is a massive power-up! 🐙✨ (Wait, jellyfish don’t have tentacles like octos, but you get the point!)
- Begonia-colored (棠色): This is the color of the Mark. It’s a specific shade of pinkish-red, often associated with beauty and strong emotion in literature.
