The Temple Master Always Wants to Make an Early Appearance chapter 78

Chapter 78: What Kind of Sect Is This?…

Jin Hongqi had only just boarded this “pirate ship” when he realized that this sect had far more… unique characteristics than he could have imagined.

“Guanzhu, that little flame on Junior Brother Liu Zhu’s head looks somewhat familiar.”

Yun Wuxiang replied, “He is a Flame Demon.”

Jin Hongqi found it hard to explain the feeling of discovering, on his very first day in the sect, that the Guanzhu’s disciple was a demon. That little Flame Demon was chatting and laughing with Shen Lanqing; it seemed that in the entire Ancestral Shrine, he was the only one who felt that having a member of the Demon Race here was out of place.

“Isn’t our sect supposed to become the number one sect in the Immortal Realm?” Why were there demon disciples?

Yun Wuxiang possessed a mysterious aura that made others find him incredibly reliable, as if every word out of his mouth was absolute truth: “The number one sect in the world must naturally have the magnanimity to embrace the entire world.”

Who knew what races the remaining Daozun reincarnations would end up being.

“Forget the prejudice against other races that the Immortal Realm instilled in you. In the ancient era, Daozuns of different races could be close friends. The founder of our Qingdi Guan was best friends with a Mo Jun.”

“Our sect doesn’t just have demons; in the future, there will be monsters and ghosts.”

Actually, they already had a ghost.

The male ghost suddenly popped up and wrapped himself around Yun Wuxiang’s arm. “Guanzhu, where is my Jade Tablet? Why isn’t it placed together with yours?”

Yun Wuxiang asked, “You haven’t even joined the Qingdi Guan. Where would a Jade Tablet come from?”

“I am your Dao Companion, so of course I must have one!” Song Yilou persistently scratched at Yun Wuxiang’s sleeve. “Guanzhu, Guanzhu~ I want a Jade Tablet~”

Song Yilou’s eyes suddenly darted around, and another brilliant, twisted idea was born: “I don’t want a Jade Tablet anymore. I want to add my name to the Guanzhu’s Jade Tablet!” With that, he hopped over to the Jade Tablets and began to fiddle with them.

Yun Wuxiang remained calm. “The Jade Tablets of the Qingdi Guan are protected by the will of the founders. No one below the Daozun realm can damage them in the slightest. Even if you broke every tooth in your mouth, you wouldn’t leave a single scratch on them.”

Song Yilou, who was currently gnashing his teeth against the Jade Tablet, turned around. The tablet wobbled up and down in his mouth. Yun Wuxiang gave a look of disgust. “Wipe the tablet clean.”

He then turned back to Jin Hongqi. “The sect won’t just consist of Immortal cultivators. The inheritance I guard isn’t limited to just one Azure Emperor Main Hall.”

Jin Hongqi tore his gaze away from the Ghost Gu chewing on the tablet and listened intently to Yun Wuxiang.

More than one Daozun inheritance—what did that mean? It didn’t matter how many people the Qingdi Guan had now; as long as these inheritances existed, and as long as Yun Wuxiang announced their presence, the Qingdi Guan would never lack Jie Juns.

If Yun Wuxiang wasn’t picky, he could recruit a massive number of Heavenly Immortals, Heavenly Demons, or even Mo Juns in a very short time, quickly forming a behemoth of gathered experts.

“Mo Yang missed out big time.” Jin Hongqi was silent for a moment. The Qingdi Guan was different from what he had imagined, but its situation and potential were thousands of times better than he had expected.

That blockhead truly lost out. Did he even know what he had missed? Oh, he didn’t.

Even if he did know, he probably wouldn’t have changed his mind.

Previously, Jin Hongqi only felt frustrated at Mo Yang’s lack of ambition, but now he wanted to beat the man to a pulp, give him amnesia, and then drag him here by force.

Yun Wuxiang suddenly strode toward Song Yilou and grabbed his face with lightning speed. “Don’t eat it!”

The shout drew everyone’s attention.

The youth—with his delicate, clean features and the five small beauty marks beneath his eyes, looking both cute and sinister—blinked his large eyes. His throat moved. With a look of innocent mischief, he swallowed the Jade Tablet just before Yun Wuxiang’s hand could reach him.

Liu Zhu doubted his own eyes. “Senior Song… seems to have eaten Shifu’s Jade Tablet?”

“What senior? He is a thick-skinned, shameless evil creature!” Shen Lanqing’s gentle expression instantly turned cold. Swallowing a Jade Tablet—was he some empty-headed three-year-old child?

With such reckless behavior, how could he ever be an asset to his Shifu? He was nothing but a huge trouble!

Shen Lanqing drew the dagger hidden in his sleeve and stepped forward. “Shifu, why don’t we just cut his belly open and retrieve it?”

Liu Zhu ran after him in shock. “Senior Brother, that’s too cruel! Why don’t we wait? Maybe Senior Song can… pass the Jade Tablet naturally?”

Yun Wuxiang, who could normally remain unmoved even if Mount Tai collapsed before him, looked slightly green at this moment.

“No! Shifu’s Jade Tablet cannot be defiled!” Shen Lanqing firmly disagreed. “It must be dug out!”

“I agree.” Yun Wuxiang grabbed Song Yilou as he tried to run away. His fingers, sharp as knives, pressed into Song Yilou’s abdomen to search for the tablet.

Unable to escape, Song Yilou simply spread his arms lazily and let Yun Wuxiang do as he pleased. “Guanzhu, I am a ghost. I don’t excrete.”

Yun Wuxiang rummaged for a while but found no trace of the tablet; Song Yilou had hidden it.

“Shut up. I know. Hand it over.” He knew ghosts didn’t excrete, but he could still visualize it!

“Wait until I’ve carved my name on it. Mmm~ Guanzhu, your fingers are moving inside my soul-body… I’m feeling lustful. I want to dual cultivate.” Song Yilou completely ignored the hand inside his body, leaning forward to brush his tongue against Yun Wuxiang’s collarbone.

“You lecher! Shameless! Despicable!” Shen Lanqing brandished his dagger at Song Yilou, while Liu Zhu, who only reached his shoulder, hugged his waist tightly. “Senior Brother, calm down! That’s an elder!”

“What kind of elder is he?! How dare he speak such filthy words to Shifu! That stinking shrimp and rotten fish—a foul, disgusting swamp dweller!”

Yun Wuxiang felt the air becoming quite noisy. Suddenly, a cold sensation like chilled jelly touched the corner of his mouth. The Ghost Gu before him was retracting a long tongue into his mouth, smiling wildly and triumphantly.

“You bastard!” The roar and the dagger both lunged at Song Yilou. With a flash of Yin Qi, the dagger was deflected, clattering to the floor.

Losing all his composure in his rage, Shen Lanqing took off one of his shoes and threw it at Song Yilou.

“Senior Brother, don’t step on the ground, your socks will get dirty!” Liu Zhu’s somewhat misplaced warning was caught in the middle of it all.

The sound of beating wings and bird cries rang out as a flock of large black-and-white birds flew into the room, perching everywhere. Their chirping sounded as if they were cheering Shen Lanqing on.

Jin Hongqi watched the farce before him. An unprecedented sense of absurdity washed over him. He was silent, dazed, and finally held his forehead with a chuckle. “What kind of sect is this?”

He had seen many sects—friendly ones, relaxed ones, serious ones, cold ones, cruel ones, oppressive ones, lazy ones, and even those that were purely wicked.

It had been a long time since Jin Hongqi had felt such a sense of novelty. He had a feeling that the future of this sect would be exceptionally loud.

Still, it was interesting.

All in all, this new sect… wasn’t bad.

Before the hundred-zhang-tall gates of the Azure Emperor Main Hall, a human figure looked as tiny as a grain of sand, yet as conspicuous as ink on white paper. The black robe embroidered with crane patterns fluttered; the white hair, tipped with black, danced against the dark fabric, brushing over the sleeves that bloomed like flowers and lightly touching the snow-white wrists. In the blink of an eye, the hair swirled into the air.

Slender fingers pointed at the gate, lifting leisurely.

“Open.”

The massive, heavy gates trembled, pulling open from the center toward the sides with a clear, ancient resonance.

The azure gates slowly opened to reveal a sky full of white mist, hiding everything inside. Yun Wuxiang flicked his sleeve, dropped his arm, and turned to the person behind him. “Go in.”

Jin Hongqi nodded solemnly. That image of resolute, steady determination lasted for less than two breaths before the man in his colorful clothes started nervously rubbing his hands, pestering Yun Wuxiang with questions.

Guanzhu, what should I do once I’m inside? Is there some test left by the Founder? Are there any secrets to sucking up to the Founder? What happens if I fail? I’m currently the only Heavenly Immortal in our sect; Guanzhu, give me some insider info so I can have some peace of mind.”

“If you don’t go in now, the gates will close.” A colorful blur flashed before Yun Wuxiang’s eyes. The spot where Jin Hongqi had been standing was now empty.

As the gates shut, Yun Wuxiang looked at the towering entrance of the hall with its aura of immortal majesty, his eyes deep.

What tests were inside?

How was he supposed to know? He had never been in there himself.

First, this hall had a level restriction; only those at the Tian grade and above could enter, and his level wasn’t high enough.

Second, Yun Wuxiang was currently a demon. Even if his level was high enough, he couldn’t just walk in.

To put it bluntly, he was currently just the guy in charge of opening and closing the door. The things inside had nothing to do with him for now.

The Sect Master of the Qingdi Guan couldn’t even enter the Azure Emperor Main Hall. Would anyone believe that?

Yun Wuxiang’s expression was serious, as if he were contemplating profound matters of the world.

Once I’ve finished the Immortal-Demonic conversion technique, I’ll be able to enter just the same.
