Chapter 42: Do You Want a Reward?
The emotions he had been holding back completely collapsed because of Liang Yuhang’s words.
Mu Feng grabbed his collar, his entire body trembling with the aftereffects of fear and panic. “I thought you weren’t coming…”
He didn’t use the formal honorific as usual; his voice was filled with grievance and reproach.
“I’m sorry.” Liang Yuhang raised his hand and patted his back. “Cry if you want to.”
At first, he had indeed thought Mu Feng was talking nonsense.
After all, this kid hung around him all day with his pheromones, his words a mix of truth and lies; very few things he said could be believed.
But he was still vaguely worried, fearing an accident.
So, after an emergency handover of his work, he hurried back without stopping. Fortunately, he had come.
“Who’s there?” a patrol light swung over, focusing on the bushes.
The white light hit Liang Yuhang’s face. He tucked Mu Feng’s head into his chest and turned around. “Liang Yuhang.”
“Colonel Liang, why are you here?” Hearing the name, the patrolman’s harsh tone instantly softened. “Your brother had an accident; the ambulance just arrived. Aren’t you going to the hospital?”
Liang Yuhang gave a very slight nod. “I’m going. Bring my car over.”
“Yes, please wait a moment.” The patrolman called into his walkie-talkie, “Park the car at the main entrance. Colonel Liang Yuhang needs to use it.”
Liang Yuhang carried Mu Feng out of the damp bushes. His fingers moved down the boy’s waist, kneading from his thigh down to his calf, checking him bit by bit.
“Does it hurt? Here?”
“My leg a little. No major injuries.”
Liang Yuhang gave an “mm.” He was covered in blood, but it was likely all someone else’s. His tone softened. “We still need to go to the hospital for an exam. You jumped from such a high place; we need to see if there are internal injuries.”
“I don’t want anyone else examining me.” In front of him, Mu Feng had become that willful child.
“Fine. Then I’ll do it.” Liang Yuhang maintained a gentle tone. “Is that okay?”
Mu Feng gave a soft nod.
Liang Yuhang picked him up with one arm while holding the black umbrella in the other, striding toward the exit of the garden.
He could feel that Mu Feng was very hot. He must have been given a relief agent; his whole body was pressed against him.
“Very uncomfortable?” Liang Yuhang asked.
“Mm, I feel so dizzy.” Mu Feng had been forcing himself to hold on earlier, but now that he knew he could relax, the dizziness became even more intense. “So hot.”
Liang Yuhang tucked the boy’s face into the crook of his neck. “Mm, bear with it a little longer.”
Mu Shan was standing at the main gate, anxiously making a phone call. He turned around to see a tall Alpha in the distance, steadily carrying another person with one arm.
The black umbrella blocked most of the view, so he couldn’t see the face of the person in his arms.
But this was his own territory; he didn’t need to guess to know who it was.
He opened his mouth. “Liang…”
Liang Yuhang didn’t look at him, passing him by. It was only when he was almost at the car that he said, “I’ll settle the account with you later.”
Mu Shan trembled violently.
He had always felt that Liang Yuhang was indifferent to everything. At their last meeting, he hadn’t shown much concern for Mu Feng.
But right now, although he wasn’t using any aggressive language, Alphas could naturally sense the hostile suppression coming from the other.
“Your brother is in the hospital!” Sweat broke out on Mu Shan’s back. “Aren’t you going to see him?”
“Your brother is about to go to the hospital too.” Liang Yuhang paused. “Oh, I forgot—you sent him there yourself.”
Mu Shan: “…”
Liang Yuhang didn’t bother wasting words on him. He let a nearby guard take the umbrella, bent down to place Mu Feng in the passenger seat, and reached out to fasten the seatbelt.
Mu Feng turned his head and locked eyes with Mu Shan through the glass, his expression indifferent.
“Don’t look. Close your eyes and rest.” Liang Yuhang sensed his gaze. “Even if the sky falls, it won’t fall on you.”
These words provided an immense sense of security. The string that Mu Feng had kept tight finally relaxed.
He closed his eyes, but his mind was filled with all sorts of images.
His eldest sister died in his arms, grabbing his hand and saying, “Mu Mu, it has nothing to do with you. Don’t feel guilty…”
Countless people cursing him, interrogating him, being locked in a dog house, having no way to defend himself…
The pain that hit him countless times, the knife he used to strike back at the other person…
Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. Even this short journey felt like falling into a nightmare he couldn’t wake from.
“Mu Feng.” Liang Yuhang’s voice came from the distant void, pulling him from the cold lake water. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Mu Feng suddenly opened his eyes and looked at him.
Liang Yuhang didn’t ask; he just unfastened the seatbelt, picked him up again, and strode into the military hospital. “We’ll do a full-body check first.”
Because the doctor was Liang Yuhang, Mu Feng wasn’t as afraid. He was obedient throughout the process, except for his pale face showing an unusually abnormal flush.
“Mm, your physical condition is quite good. Nothing major.” Liang Yuhang finally felt relieved. “I’ve prescribed some isolation agents and a fever-reducing shot. They’ll neutralize the hormones in your body. You’ll be a bit uncomfortable for the next two days; bear with it.”
Mu Feng was dizzy and muddled, but he skillfully reached out his arm for the shot.
Liang Yuhang lowered his gaze as he injected the medicine, feeling that the other’s silence was a bit unusual.
“Teacher Liang, I…” There was a nurse nearby, so he kept his voice very low. “Can I take off my clothes?”
Liang Yuhang: .
The nurse couldn’t help but wear a knowing smile.
“So hot.” Mu Feng’s head was spinning. He reached out and tugged at his collar. “It’s been so hot since this evening.”
“Don’t move around.” Liang Yuhang held his hand down. “The isolation agent won’t take effect that quickly.”
Mu Feng tugged his collar down a bit more, his consciousness jumping. “I want a cold shower.”
“No.” Liang Yuhang observed him for a few minutes before saying, “Endure it.”
“Doctor Liang, should he be admitted?” the nurse asked from the side.
Liang Yuhang turned and asked, “Do you want to stay in the hospital or go back?”
Mu Feng was dazed. He pressed his head against Liang Yuhang’s lower abdomen and rubbed against him. “Go back with Teacher Liang.”
The nurse laughed again, hiding her face behind a clipboard. So sweet. As expected, two handsome guys are just so shippable.
The base was too crowded and inconvenient, so Liang Yuhang could only bring him home once again.
He had originally bought a cake and a gift, but seeing him like this, he likely couldn’t eat it.
“What’s that?” Mu Feng walked unsteadily, leaning over to see what he was carrying.
“A cake.” Liang Yuhang reached out to support him. “You can’t even go home once without making it look like this.”
“That place isn’t a damn home,” Mu Feng muttered. “They’re just trying to kick me into a fire pit.”
Liang Yuhang glanced at him, his heart softening a bit more.
“You still have a fever. Go straight to sleep when we get back, you hear me?” Before he could finish, Mu Feng lunged at him like a ball of fire.
Liang Yuhang looked up at the surveillance camera in the elevator.
“They’re going to cause trouble for me; I can’t sleep.” Mu Feng’s words were incoherent. “What floor do you live on? Will I die if I jump down in a bit? I need to grow wings.”
“No one is causing trouble for you.” Liang Yuhang made him stand straight and looked down to check his messages.
Liang Jingyi’s abdomen was injured. It didn’t hit anything vital, but he would need to rest for a month.
“You’re quite fierce when it comes to stabbing people,” Liang Yuhang commented.
Even without strength, he could still stab an Alpha into the hospital.
“I used my left hand.” Mu Feng reached out and held it under his eyes. “Hit me.”
“I’m not hitting you.” Liang Yuhang looked down at him. “Do you want a reward?”
Mu Feng was stunned for a moment, staring at him blankly as his consciousness struggled between chaos and clarity.
“What reward? I want it.” He leaned his head on Liang Yuhang’s shoulder, his whole body sliding down. “I’m about to faint.”
Just then, the elevator arrived. Liang Yuhang dragged and pulled him back. He had just entered the room and brought out a set of clean clothes when he saw that Mu Feng had already taken off his wet shirt.
His eyes were half-closed as he lay back on the sofa, his entire face flushed red.
Liang Yuhang: “…”
He placed the cake on the coffee table, untied the ribbon, and lit the candles.
“Do you want to make a wish?”
Mu Feng opened his eyes in a daze. After the shock, he was stunned by happiness. Looking at the cake, he struggled to sit up. “Yes, I’ll make it now.”
Actually, the scene was quite comical. He wasn’t even wearing clothes, his beautiful body lines fully revealed.
Yet, with his hands clasped together, he looked exceptionally devout.
Mu Feng silently recited in his heart: I hope Liang Yuhang lives a long life. It’s okay if he doesn’t like me.
Then, he still had a selfish thought and quietly added: But I still want him to like me a little bit. Just a little bit is enough.
Before he could open his eyes, he felt his neck being held by a broad palm.
The sensation of leather brushed against his skin. With just a slight tightening, his breathing grew ragged.
“This is…” Mu Feng opened his eyes to find the man standing before him, looking down as he helped him put on the gift he had promised. “Is this for me?”
Liang Yuhang gave an “mm.” His fingers slid through the collar and gave it a slight tug, pulling the boy toward him.
Mu Feng felt this night had been a rollercoaster. Being firmly in the other’s control gave him a sense of peace after a close call.
His breathing was ragged, and he felt dizzy again. He wanted to swallow all the happiness in one go before fainting, so he looked at the cake. “Can I eat it?”
“You’re sick, so only a little.”
Liang Yuhang still had one hand hooked in the collar, looking at him as if looking at a greedy kitten, but he was willing to indulge him.
So, his finger dipped into some cream and he slowly smeared it onto Mu Feng’s lips.
“Are you happy on your birthday now, Mu Feng?”
