Chapter 79: Long-Distance Love
“You still have the nerve to cry? Hold those tears back.”
Su Bing looked at her younger brother, who was currently being held by Ye Chiyu, and rolled her eyes in exasperation.
“You should eat first too. Why are you messing with your own health just to follow this kid’s lead?”
After finishing her lecture to Su Tang, Su Bing turned her fierce gaze toward Ye Chiyu, pointing at the beef noodles she had bought downstairs.
Su Tang had always listened to Su Bing. Moreover, after his sister’s interruption, he couldn’t bring himself to cry anymore. He obediently took a tissue to wipe away his tears and snot before lying back on the bed to monitor Mr. Ye as he ate.
In all the years Ye Chiyu had lived, this was the first time someone had spoken to him in such a tone. Surprisingly, he sat down submissively and began to pick the cilantro out of the beef noodles with a serious expression.
He’s even a picky eater.
Su Bing glanced at the Alpha with a look of disappointment, suddenly feeling that her brother—who wasn’t picky and would eat anything—was slightly more pleasing to the eye.
Having broken her afternoon plans, Su Bing had nothing else to do. After watching Ye Chiyu finish the noodles, she urged him to go home, take a shower, and change his clothes before coming back.
Su Tang looked at Mr. Ye’s shirt and coat with a bit of guilt; they were wrinkled and stained with blood, making him look rather disheveled.
Ye Chiyu initially wanted to refuse, but as soon as he met Su Bing’s sharp gaze, he immediately changed his tune.
“Alright. I’ll have to trouble you to look after Tangtang during this time.”
“Don’t worry,” Su Bing agreed readily, waving her hand to signal Ye Chiyu to leave quickly. Su Tang also urged him on in a low voice from the side.
“Mhm.”
After Ye Chiyu left, Su Bing unceremoniously patted her brother, who had yet to fully recover. “How long has he been gone? Can you rein in that look of longing and expectation a little?”
“I’m not doing that,” Su Tang replied, gathering some strength to sit up and rubbing his nose.
Su Bing let out a tse: “He’s just going home to shower, it’s not like he’s never coming back. Look at your pathetic state.”
Su Tang silently pursed his lips, not daring to speak.
The siblings hadn’t seen each other for a while, so they began sharing interesting things that had happened recently. They eventually moved on to the development of Su Bing’s studio, and once they started talking, they were practically unstoppable.
As Su Tang and Su Bing chatted away, a nurse came in for a ward round. The moment she saw Su Tang’s face, her mouth dropped open in surprise. She suppressed her inner excitement as she performed the routine check on his bodily functions.
Realizing the nurse had recognized him, Su Tang smiled at her. Before he could speak, the little nurse said with a blush, “Xiao Tang, you’re really so handsome and beautiful! When I saw the medical records, I thought it was just someone with the same name. I didn’t expect it to really be you. You must take good care of your health!”
Su Tang smiled. “Alright, thank you for your concern. I will.”
After saying that, the little nurse glanced at Su Bing next to him with some confusion and couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Su Tang, where is your Alpha?”
She was a fan of Su Tang and had watched the livestream during the New Year. At that time, Su Tang had said he had an Alpha he liked, and since they spent the New Year together, it was obvious they had a deep relationship. Why was there a strange, beautiful older sister by his side now?
Su Bing burst out laughing and winked at the little nurse, teasing, “Little sister, don’t even mention his Alpha. The man just left and Su Tang is already pining for him. If you say a few more words, he’ll probably go crazy from missing him.”
“Sister—!”
Su Tang bashfully covered Su Bing’s mouth and looked at the shocked nurse. “Don’t listen to her. My Alpha will be back in a while. It’s not as exaggerated as my sister says.”
The little nurse gave him an “I understand” look and repeatedly promised not to leak the news of his hospitalization. She then struck while the iron was hot and asked for an autograph.
Su Tang signed his name on the paper and smiled. “If my complexion wasn’t so bad today, I could have taken a photo with you.”
The little nurse excitedly covered her mouth. “Really?! If it’s not okay today, can I take one on the day you’re discharged?!”
Su Tang chuckled, his beautiful eyes looking at the nurse tenderly. “Of course. It’s not a difficult request. Just come find me on the day I leave. You doctors and nurses should know my discharge date.”
Having received Su Tang’s promise, the little nurse excitedly clutched the autograph and headed back to the nurse’s station.
Just after the nurse left, Wen Lang and Ning Yang arrived together. Su Tang looked at this strange duo, momentarily failing to process what was happening.
“Why did you two come here together?”
He knew Wen Lang wanted to pursue Ning Yang, but how long had it been? Had there been progress already?
“We ran into each other downstairs.”
“I came with Yangyang!”
Ning Yang and Wen Lang spoke at the same time, immediately exposing themselves.
Su Tang’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Are you two… together? When did this happen? How come I didn’t know…”
Su Bing sat to the side with her arms crossed, watching the drama unfold. Seeing Ning Yang’s reluctant expression, she felt a secret sense of satisfaction.
Twisted melons might not be sweet, but they certainly quenched one’s thirst.
At a glance, it was clearly a case of ‘marking and being marked’ between an Omega and an Alpha. Otherwise, a kid like Ning Yang would definitely not be with someone as flamboyant as Wen Lang.
It’s better to be a Beta; you don’t get troubled by things like pheromones and glands.
Ning Yang sat down next to Su Tang. Seeing his best friend looking so weak from illness made his heart ache, but he still answered Su Tang’s question. “Wen Lang and I aren’t exactly ‘together.’ There was just an accident, and he… he marked me.”
Wen Lang, who was sitting nearby peeling fruit for his “sister-in-law,” gave Ning Yang a pitiful look before turning his gaze to Su Tang, looking like an aggrieved little bride.
“Sister-in-law, look at Yangyang. I’ve given my whole body to him, yet he won’t even give me a title. Waaaah~”
Ning Yang glared fiercely at the Alpha who had started acting crazy again, gritting his teeth. “Shut up!”
Su Tang covered his mouth and giggled. Perhaps because he was too tired, he grew drowsy while chatting with Ning Yang and the others. He yawned several times in a single minute, and his sleepiness was contagious, causing everyone else to start yawning too.
Wen Lang forcibly grabbed Ning Yang’s hand and stood up, bidding Su Tang farewell. “Sister-in-law, you should rest. We won’t disturb you further. Father called you, right? Dad has had a fever these past few days and can’t step away, so please forgive him.”
“Okay…”
After answering, Su Tang finally succumbed to his overwhelming sleepiness. The moment he closed his eyes, he fell into a deep slumber.
Ye Chiyu sent a message saying he was downstairs, so Su Bing grabbed her bag and left the ward to head home. At the elevator doors, she happened to run into Jiang Cha and Hu Baobao.
“Jiang Cha?”
Su Bing looked at the man in front of her, her expression full of surprise. “You’re my brother’s manager with the surname Jiang?”
“Su Bing?”
Jiang Cha was also stunned. He told Hu Baobao to go find Su Tang first, then dragged Su Bing into the elevator without a word, leaving a bewildered Hu Baobao pushed out of the doors.
Five days later, Su Tang’s body recovered quickly. With the doctor’s approval, he was finally discharged. The little nurse got her wish and took a photo with Su Tang, personally witnessing Ye Chiyu’s god-like face—a face that could debut on its own. She was tired of saying how “perfectly matched” they were!
Su Tang’s timing for discharge was good; he was just in time to take the character posters for Undercurrent.
During his hospitalization, SILENCE had officially announced him as the spokesperson for their new perfume, Moonlight, and released the advertisement he had filmed. The ethereal and beautiful boy in the ad, who looked as pure as moonlight, once again amazed the netizens.
Of course, some were jealous that Su Tang had such good resources so soon after his debut, and they posted snide comments under the official announcement. Hu Baobao led the fans from the Super Topic to argue their case, resulting in another fan war.
Su Tang didn’t care about any of that. After being discharged, he packed his bags and went straight to Town G for filming. After meeting with the lead actors and efficiently shooting the character posters, the movie immediately began production at full speed.
When the cast of Undercurrent was officially announced, Su Tang shocked the netizens once again. Many began to suspect he had used the “back door” and must have a sugar daddy behind him, mockingly labeling him as a “resource-heavy actor.”
Everyone knew that Director Chu Xiaoyun was always extremely strict with the actors in his films. Many actors couldn’t even catch his eye, so for a newcomer like Su Tang to land a lead role, no one believed it was without back-door help.
Ye Chiyu had been closely following the public opinion regarding his little Omega. When the attacks became increasingly harsh and the fans were struggling to keep up, he directly used some means to leak a massive explosive news story, successfully diverting the netizens’ attention.
His little Omega had been filming in a closed-off border area for over a month now. The production crew didn’t allow anyone to visit the set, so Ye Chiyu could only wait longingly every night for his little one to give him a video call.
“Mr. Ye!”
Su Tang, who had returned to his lodgings and removed his makeup, had reverted to his clean, fair look. He had been filming from morning until past nine tonight. Dragging his exhausted body, he had just finished a shower before calling his Mr. Ye.
The Alpha stared at Su Tang on the screen; he could see him but couldn’t touch him, feeling quite like he was trying to quench his thirst by looking at plums.
“Just finished work? You must be exhausted. Did you eat well today?” His voice was unbelievably tender.
Su Tang nodded. He lay on the bed, hugged his quilt, and rolled over, sharing the scenes he had filmed today with his Alpha.
“During the last scene, I suddenly forgot my lines. I made everyone NG several times before we passed,” the little guy pursed his lips guiltily, venting his emotions to his Alpha. “Mr. Ye, am I useless? I had those lines memorized perfectly, but my brain just short-circuited and I couldn’t remember anything.”
“Everyone had been filming all day and was so tired, yet I dragged down the progress.”
Director Chu’s requirements were very strict. Not only were family and friends not allowed to visit, but even the actors’ assistants were only permitted to visit once every three days to deliver essential living supplies.
The actors on set were exhausted every day, so Su Tang had no way to share his inner thoughts with others.
Now that he saw his Mr. Ye upon returning at night, Su Tang couldn’t hold it back anymore.
Seeing the little guy’s pitiful appearance, Ye Chiyu wished he could rush to that remote, desolate filming site right now and bring his baby home.
The Alpha spoke, comforting his little Omega: “Tangtang, not everyone can do everything perfectly. Others make mistakes too; everyone encounters situations like this. They will understand you. Be good, don’t think too much about it.”
Later, Ye Chiyu spoke a lot more to Su Tang. As Su Tang listened, he fell asleep while clutching his phone.
Ye Chiyu stared at Su Tang’s adorable sleeping face and kissed the little face on the screen.
“Goodnight, baby.”
