Chapter 83: The Gift
“What is this?”
Ye Chiyu was working. He glanced at the silver-gray gift box Qi Yuan had placed on his desk without a word, his expression slightly displeased.
Having worked for Ye Chiyu for so many years, Qi Yuan didn’t panic at all. He smiled and said, “President, this was sent to the company for you via same-city express by the Madam. Madam even made a special phone call to instruct me to deliver it to you personally.”
Upon hearing it was from the little guy at home, the Alphaâs gaze instantly softened. His expression improved significantly, as if the gift box before him was the little Omega standing in front of him.
“Madam didn’t say what was inside. I imagine it’s meant to be a surprise for you,” seeing his bossâs mood improve, Qi Yuan continued.
This was the first gift Su Tang had sent him in this manner. Ye Chiyu weighed the rectangular gift box in his hand. It wasn’t heavy, and there was the sound of a hard object hitting the sides of the box.
A fountain pen?
Or something else…
His Tangtang had so many little ideas.
From the unexpectedly clumsy and chaotic birthday surprise to being so well-behaved yet secretly eating ice cream and landing himself in the hospital, Ye Chiyu truly couldn’t guess what kind of surprise his little Omega could give him next.
The bow on the box was clearly tied by the little guy himself; it was crooked and misshapen. Ye Chiyu found it amusing. He took out his phone to snap a photo as a memento first.
The Alpha very carefully untied the not-so-pretty bow. As he set the ribbon aside, he could almost see the cute image of his little guy at home racking his brain to wrap the gift for him.
What could it be?
His well-defined fingers opened the small box, revealing something wrapped in paper.
It was wrapped quite tightly.
Ye Chiyu let out a light laugh, his eyes practically overflowing with sweetness. He very patiently removed the several layers of paper, and finally, a white object was fully revealed.
Ye Chiyu turned the small object over in confusion. Through the English text on it, he recognized it as a pregnancy test stick. Then, his gaze focused on the two prominent red lines in the middle.
“…”
The Alpha stared at the pregnancy test in his hand, lost in thought for a good while. He took out his phone, entered a browser, and did a quick search. Afterward, he actually sat in his office chair and began to daze in a rare fashion.
He didn’t say a word throughout. The gift his Tangtang had sent him was currently being tightly clutched in his palm, so tight that his hand was beginning to sweat.
Qi Yuan was still holding his phone and lamenting with his best friend about having just been stuffed with “dog food” by the boss and Madam again when he suddenly heard the sound of something shattering from the Presidentâs office.
Even though Ye Chiyu hadn’t summoned him, he still put down his phone and hurriedly pushed the door open to enter.
“President?”
As soon as Qi Yuan entered, his sharp eyes noticed the coffee cup on the floor that had likely been knocked over and was now in pieces, as well as Ye Chiyu, who was sitting stiffly in his chair with hands that seemed to be shaking.
Qi Yuan stepped forward. Seeing that Ye Chiyuâs expression wasn’t quite right, he felt a bit strange.
Reasonably speaking, the Madam had just sent the President a gift, so the Presidentâs expression should be one of joy. Why did he instead look like he had lost his soul?
However, he didn’t dare ask what he shouldn’t. He could only look at Ye Chiyu and ask, “President, why are your hands shaking? Are you feeling unwell? Do you need me to take you to the hospital?”
“No need.”
The Alphaâs voice was deep and hoarse. If one listened carefully, a slight tremble could be heard in his voice.
“Is there anything I can do for you then?”
Without a word, Ye Chiyu put the pregnancy test stick he was holding in his left hand into his coat pocket. He grabbed his phone and walked past Qi Yuan to leave.
Just as Qi Yuan was left feeling bewildered, Ye Chiyuâs voice drifted back.
“Cancel all my meetings and itinerary for today. For those that can’t be canceled, you personally take my place.”
Ye Chiyu left those words and departed. Qi Yuan didn’t know what had happened in those few short minutes, but he had a premonitionâit was definitely not a bad thing.
Ye Chiyu didn’t know how he got home. His mind was entirely occupied by the news that his Tangtang was pregnant. On the way back, he didn’t even think to give Su Tang a call.
The moment he entered the house, he began looking for him. After a search downstairs and not finding Su Tang, he hurried upstairs.
Usually, the little guy liked to lock the door when he slept at home alone. Seeing the bedroom door closed, Ye Chiyu slowed his pace and pushed it open.
The curtains weren’t drawn, and the midday light was excellent. He immediately saw a small mound under the quilt. His breathing instantly lightened, and he tiptoed over.
After the excitement of seeing the two lines on the pregnancy test stick this morning, Su Tang had immediately put his little brain to work, wanting to give Mr. Ye a surprise.
After contacting the courier and calling Qi Yuan, sleepiness had overcome him again. Yawning repeatedly, he had burrowed back into the soft quilt and covered his head to sleep.
Ye Chiyu knelt halfway by the bed. His little Omega was currently sleeping without any defenses.
The sunlight outside seemed very sensible; the light shining through the window just happened to avoid his eyes, softly spilling onto Su Tangâs cheek, which was so fair that tiny blood vessels could be seen beneath.
During the time Su Tang had been resting at home, the weight he had lost from his previous diet had long since been nurtured back by Ye Chiyuâs meticulous care. Ye Chiyu couldn’t help but reach out and poke the little guyâs soft cheek fat, his smile tender.
Seeing that Su Tang showed no signs of waking, the Alpha felt a sense of playfulness. He played with the little guyâs eyelashes, then half-knelt on the bed to lean over and kiss the little guyâs earlobe. After kissing it, he even stuck out his tongue to lick Su Tangâs Adamâs apple.
No matter how good one’s sleep quality was, being licked by an Alpha like an excited puppy would wake anyone up. Su Tang frowned and let out a few dissatisfied whimpers. Before his eyes even opened, his two paws began to move through the air, trying to capture the “criminal” who had disturbed his beautiful dream.
Ye Chiyu didn’t move throughout. However, Su Tangâs two delicate white arms were truly of little use. Seeing that he was about to get anxious from not catching anyone, the Alpha calmly moved his wrist into Su Tangâs hands.
Su Tang, whose sleep hadn’t fully cleared, grabbed the object and began moving it toward his mouth. He took a light bite and felt something was wrong. Opening his eyelids and seeing the familiar figure, he began kissing the Alphaâs wrist.
“Mr. Ye, you’re back…”
The little guyâs voice was soft, carrying a hint of the hoarseness of someone who had just woken up. Seeing the Alpha, he naturally leaned against Ye Chiyu, wanting to act spoiled.
Ye Chiyu held the fragrant, soft person. Taking advantage of the fact that Su Tang wasn’t fully awake, he put shoes on him and carried him straight to the car.
“Mr. Ye, where are we going? Did you receive the gift I gave you? Do you like it?”
Su Tang rubbed his sleepy eyes and looked at the solemn-faced Alpha, asking curiously.
Ye Chiyu comfortingly rubbed the little guyâs head and stuffed a bottle of milk into Su Tangâs hand. Only then did he start the car, his tone unbelievably gentle.
“Be good. We’re going to the hospital.”
