The Foolish Bookworm of the Aristocratic Boys’ School chapter 117 Side story 1.2

Part 2

That night had brought an unparalleled intimacy, but it also brought the constant anxiety of losing Wen Rong.

Dragging it out until he could no longer delay, it just so happened that Shi Ye’s villa outside the school was completed. Under the guise of a tour, Shi Ye took Wen Rong there.

Fifteen minutes by car from Floriman Academy, there was a plot of nearly 100 acres. It had been purchased in advance by Shi Ye’s maternal grandfather when he studied at Floriman.

The land had lain fallow for many years. Construction began at the same time Shi Changyuan’s cheating scandal broke out. Shi Ye’s original plan was to bring his mother here to live, so the entire villa was decorated in the vintage style she loved.

From the sky, it looked like a bouquet of flowers held in the hand of a steel and concrete giant.

The entire villa was surrounded by dense woods. Within the private grounds, seeds had been scattered so that different colored flowers would bloom in different seasons.

Right now, they were white, with a hint of pink.

In the car, Wen Rong smelled the rich fragrance of jasmine. Passing through the woods, there was a lake, and on the emerald water, lotus flowers spread.

The actual villa was hidden behind the gardens and the lake.

Different from the building Shi Ye had built at Floriman Academy, the house before them was only three stories high. It had yellowish-brown brick walls topped with a green hip-and-gable roof.

The main entrance looked like it was connected to a pavilion, with four protruding red pillars supporting a roof of blue tiles—it looked quite majestic.

The doors and windows were made of dark brown wood. Instead of single panes of glass, wooden strips divided them into six or eight flat rectangles.

The interior decoration was like a color palette. The floors were a matte-textured brown wood, and the walls were covered in dark green patterned wallpaper. In the corners, cream-colored Roman-style pillars had been installed.

The cabinets and tables were mostly black, as were the rattan chairs that replaced sofas.

The somber environment relied on colorful vases, rugs, tablecloths, and greenery to bring it to life. The cloisonné fans and shell-decorated hanging paintings on the shelves made Wen Rong feel as if he had stepped into a 20th-century tourist attraction. He almost wanted to ask Shi Ye if he needed to pay for an admission ticket.

Shi Ye took his hand and led him upstairs. “I prepared something for you.”

His feet stepped on the wooden stairs, making a joyful sound due to his excitement.

Shi Ye’s room was on the second floor. The style was similar to downstairs, but because it wasn’t as spacious, the mixture of colors felt much cozier.

“In here.”

Shi Ye pushed open a door connected to the room, revealing three walls of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

Wen Rong thought with surprise that it actually wasn’t a room full of punching bags.

Shi Ye led him inside and gestured for him to look up, revealing the ceiling of the third floor.

This was a double-height library, spanning two floors with bookshelves on all four sides, fully stocked with books. Around the second level, there was a meter-wide walkway with a railing for the owner’s convenience.

Shi Ye led him to the first wall on the right and pointed. “The ones on this shelf are copies of land deeds.”

Wen Rong: “Mhm.”

Wen Rong: “Huh?”

Copies of what?

Shi Ye then led him to the adjacent wall. “This side contains copies of property certificates.”

Wen Rong looked up, squinting at the text on the spines, and realized they really were “Certificate of XXX.”

But the sheer volume was staggering.

“And over here are copies of contracts for various luxury goods.”

Wen Rong stopped abruptly. “Wait—”

Shi Ye: “What is it?”

“Why are you telling me all this?”

“I’ll explain in a bit. Come, let’s go upstairs.”

Shi Ye pulled him up the stairs beside the shelves. They were only wide enough for one person, so Shi Ye pushed Wen Rong ahead by the shoulders.

“The things on the second floor are more important. These are copies of the contracts for bank safety deposit boxes. I’ve already registered your information into my accounts. You just need to take these to the corresponding banks, and you can withdraw everything in the boxes—including valuables and all the original documents.”

Wen Rong was stunned.

He had never seen such a shocking display of wealth. “You…”

“Shh—”

Shi Ye pushed open a door at the top, entering a room that looked like a genuine study. A laptop—the kind standardly issued by Floriman Academy—sat on the desk.

Shi Ye pressed him down into the chair and stood beside him to turn on the computer. After entering a website, account, and password Wen Rong didn’t know, the screen displayed a map of the Federation.

It was a bit different; while a regular map was dense with place names, this map was covered in red dots.

When the mouse accidentally hovered over one, a picture popped up showing the address and the exterior of the house.

“These red dots are the locations of all my real estate.”

“On the right side, you can toggle the types. Red is real estate. Blue represents my membership cards—places like hotels, manors, restaurants, clubs. In the future, you can use these cards to visit these places for free.”

“Wait a second.”

Wen Rong’s head was spinning. He didn’t know if he was being blasted into dust by Shi Ye’s wealth or if Shi Ye’s tone sounded like he was dictating a will. He quickly reached out and covered Shi Ye’s mouth. “Are you in some kind of trouble?”

Shi Ye rubbed the tip of his nose against Wen Rong’s palm. “What kind of trouble could I be in?”

“Then why are you suddenly telling me all this?”

“I…”

Shi Ye hesitated, then couldn’t help but reach out to cup Wen Rong’s face and kiss his lips firmly.

It was just a light touch, nowhere near enough to sate his craving. His body felt terrifyingly hot.

Shi Ye began to lick Wen Rong like a puppy, wanting to eat him, or swallow him whole.

But he still wasn’t satisfied.

He felt he finally understood why people wanted deeper “exchange” after getting married. It was because the threshold kept rising; kissing had become daily routine, so a deeper contact was needed to extinguish that kind of addiction.

To love to the depths, to enter to the depths.

This was instinct.

Shi Ye pressed his forehead against Wen Rong’s and stopped his movements, his cheeks puffed out. “All of this is my marriage fund.”

“Leon and Zhou Xie are both ‘NEETs’ living off their parents. Only I have had my own career since I was a kid. Competition prize money, endorsement fees, investment returns… in short, I achieved financial freedom on my own by the age of ten. I had so much money that the bank manager used to come to my door every day to deliver nutritional breakfasts for children.”

Wen Rong blinked in confusion.

Shi Ye continued his rambling: “According to Federal law, if we marry, all of this belongs to you. Even if we don’t marry, it doesn’t matter; you can use it all anyway. You’re so thin and you don’t like buying things—it won’t take any effort at all to provide for you.”

Wen Rong said regretfully, “Shi Ye, I’m only eighteen. I don’t plan on getting married yet.”

“…” Shi Ye paused, nearly jumping up. “I wasn’t proposing! How could my proposal be this shabby?”

“Then you’re…?”

“I…” Shi Ye couldn’t bring himself to say it, so he sullenly searched for another reason. “I just wanted to show up Leon and Zhou Xie.”

“Alright, Mr. Moneybags. I’ve seen how rich you are. You’re definitely more impressive than Senior Leon and Zhou Xie. Can we keep looking around? Your place is really beautiful.”

“You like it here?”

“Mhm.”

“Then how about I give this place to you?”

Wen Rong: “Huh?”

“You don’t want it?”

Wen Rong returned to his earlier confusion, suddenly realizing that Shi Ye’s repetitive behavior was just his old habit acting up again. So, he patiently explained, “It’s not that I don’t want it, it’s that it’s too valuable. I can’t accept something so expensive. Besides, this place is huge; it needs so much security, servants, and maintenance. I can’t afford the upkeep.”

“You don’t need to pay. I’ll pay for it.”

“Shi Ye, can you tell me why you’re suddenly trying to shove all this money at me?” Wen Rong’s tone changed. “Last chance. If you don’t tell me, I’m leaving.”

“Don’t—”

“Regarding your affairs, I hope you won’t keep them from me. If I hear news about you from someone else, would that mean they are closer to you, or am I closer to you?”
