Chapter 81: Song Yilou: I Don’t Want My Life, I Want⌠part 1
Yun Wuxiang rarely smiled. It wasn’t just smiles; almost all expressions used to convey emotion rarely appeared on his face. Most of the time, he was like a shadow shrouded in mistâunfathomable, untouchable, his joy and anger never showing. According to the Systemâs evaluation, this was the natural “Otherworldly Expert” standard face!
Song Yilou, however, was obsessed with making that face change because of him. Intent to kill and anger were the easiest emotions to provoke.
But now, the Guanzhu was smiling because of him. It wasn’t a cold sneer, nor was it a smile laced with killing intent; he was truly happy.
The Ghost Gu was mesmerized by this rare smile, right up until Yun Wuxiang took him to meet a white-tailed fish and learned from this fishâs mouth what Yun Wuxiang wanted him to do.
The white-tailed mermanâs closed eyes “looked” toward Song Yilou, his joyful expression as if he had found a long-sought treasure, though he also seemed somewhat regretful. “The Ghost Gu feeds on poison; he will surely be able to eat the poison in Shadow Threeâs body clean. Itâs a pity this Ghost Guâs cultivation is a bit low.”
“No way. Let them go find another Song Yilou. Iâm not leaving the Guanzhu.” Song Yilou hugged Yun Wuxiangâs waist and refused to let go, wishing he could grow into Yun Wuxiangâs body. He muttered, “If I leave, love rivals will definitely come and take my place, seizing the chance to get all lovey-dovey with the Guanzhu. They can dream on!”
Song Yilouâs head, buried in Yun Wuxiangâs neck, tilted slightly, revealing a sinister ghost pupil that swept over the merman through the gaps in the shadows.
A hand pressed down on his head. Yun Wuxiang lowered his eyes to meet Song Yilouâs upward gaze, then lightly lifted his eyelids. “For a Ghost Gu, cultivation is the easiest thing to obtain. But if a petâs cultivation becomes too high, they will rebel.”
“If you feel his cultivation is insufficient, you can go find other Ghost Gu. As for whether you can make them obedient, that depends on your own ability.”
Yun Wuxiang didn’t even want to think about what those unconstrained, savagely growing Song Yilou fragments out there were like now.
The one in his hands was likely the most settled piece of Song Yilou. This was probably because his most persistent wish had been fulfilled, so he had changed his goal. He no longer sought death but only obsessed over dual cultivating with him. Like a small animal in heat, he was clingy every single day.
Though he was clingy, he was still prone to showing his claws and teeth, not at all submissive.
Despite these complaints, if Song Yilou truly became submissive one day, Yun Wuxiang would instead start becoming suspicious, certain that the creature had done something wicked where he couldn’t see.
Still, no matter how annoying Song Yilou was, he was his ghost. It wasn’t for others to be picky.
“The Guanzhu is joking. I wouldn’t dare let such a dangerous thing as a Ghost Gu without a guardian get anywhere near my Dao Companion.”
Bai Jiao had long, light-blue hair, and coupled with that snow-white fish tail with its slightly pink tip, his pale and dreamlike color palette didn’t look at all like a creature of the Demonic Realm.
“The subject of my deal has always been you, Guanzhu. Shadow Threeâs current condition makes him unable to be moved. I can only ask you to bring your Ghost Gu and make a trip to the Merman Tribe’s territory in the North Sea to play the role of a divine physician for once.”
Going to the North Sea meant Yun Wuxiang would have to leave the Secret Realm. Inside the Secret Realm, with the Heavengaze Bird present, no person or demon could harm him in the slightest.
Once he left the Secret Realm, no matter how many tricks Yun Wuxiang had, he was only an Earth Demon.
A gentleman does not stand under a crumbling wall; for safety’s sake, he should follow Tianqing Daozunâs words and wait until he reached the Jie Jun realm before going out.
A diviner does not fight unprepared battles. Bai Jiao had done plenty of divination work before coming. “In the Merman Tribe’s Secret Realm, there is a Black and White Floating Life Flower. This flower coexists with both Immortal and Demonic Qi. Using it for smithing can create a Dao tool capable of reversing Immortal and Demon. A Mo Jun using it could disguise themselves as an Immortal Lord. The divination shows that using this as a reward has the highest chance of success.”
Yun Wuxiangâs brows lifted slightly. Wasn’t this exactly the material he was looking for to refine a body?
“In a while, the Merman Tribeâs Coral Matchmaking Festival will begin. Any Dao Companions with a marriage thread will receive the blessing of the Red Thread Coral, making their future cultivation smoother. Many lovers go to the North Sea Coral Grand Gathering at this time, and many cultivators find their other half during the Matchmaking Festival.”
Song Yilou pricked up his ears as a private voice transmission quietly entered: [Many cultivators who receive the blessing can’t wait to dual cultivate with their companions, and during dual cultivation, it becomes even more…]
“Guanzhu, let’s go to the North Sea to play!” Song Yilou expressed that he had developed a profound interest in this Coral Matchmaking Festival.
Yun Wuxiang thought for a moment about what else he needed to handle in the Secret Realm. There seemed to be nothing. As a hands-off manager, he had delegated his responsibilities very cleanly, and because there weren’t many people in the Qingdi Guan yet, there were no urgent matters preventing him from leaving.
“The divination shows that if the Guanzhu goes to the North Sea now, there will be unexpected gains,” Bai Jiao said. “As for the Immortal Realm, you needn’t worry. They are currently busy defending against attacks from the Ghost and Monster Realms and have no energy to look toward the Demonic Realm for now. Your trip will certainly not be spoiled by people from the Immortal Realm.”
Every word from the merman was invisibly pushing the two toward the North Sea, to the point where he almost directly said: You two, go there now!
Song Yilou was already dazzled by the thought of the Coral Matchmaking Festival. Yun Wuxiang exchanged a look with the Heavengaze Bird, and the bird gave a light nod, confirming that what Bai Jiao said was true.
The trip to the North Sea was thus scheduled.
Before they left, Bai Jiao gave Yun Wuxiang a silver-white pearl.
“The Guanzhu already has the protection of a Venerableâs Dao Seal. With the added assistance of my Merman Pearl to shield the heavenly mechanics, no one in the world will be able to lock onto your position through spells. Believe me, you are mysterious enough in anyone’s eyes.”
After saying this, Bai Jiao began to spit up large amounts of blood. With the support of the large Flame Demon and the Battle Demoness, he stubbornly voiced one last divination: “The divination shows that a great disaster looms over you, but misfortune and fortune are intertwined; it is an omen of great auspiciousness following disaster. If an accident occurs… cough, cough, cough.”
The Flame Demon covered his mouth. “Don’t say any more. You only have half a life left. If you keep talking, Shadow Three will only be able to hug your corpse and cry once heâs better.”
The one-eyed Battle Demoness added, “Whatâs there to worry about with a ‘Great Auspiciousness’ divination? Have a safe trip, you two. Weâre taking this fish away.”
“Please, cough… you must… cough cough, cure Shadow Three!” Bai Jiao was dragged away by his two friends, his weak final words echoing in the air.
Yun Wuxiang didn’t take this divination to heart. He informed his two disciples and then set off with the excited Song Yilou.
Just as the Flame Demon Mo Jun had said, what was there to worry about with a “Great Auspiciousness” divination?
The Great Butler of the Heavengaze Birdâs graveyard took action, digging out a Demon Boat from Jiangzi Daozunâs legacy and selecting a few demons from the mining crew to serve as boatmen.
Yun Wuxiang didn’t have to manage anything. He sat on the Demon Boat and watched the scenery of the Demonic Realm’s seas for a few days. On the way, he killed a few blind sea demonic beasts which were cooked in various ways and eaten. Blowing in the sea breeze, he arrived at the North Sea comfortably.
Back at the Secret Realm, the group of demons saw the Demon Boat fly out and erupted into festive laughter.
“Hahaha, that damn ghost scorpion is finally gone!”
“Peace returns to the world! The whole world celebrates!”
“Excellent, I can finally eat in peace.” Liu Zhu had a small smile, joyful and satisfied, yet carrying a distinct sense of pathos.
Amidst the cheers and laughter, only Shen Lanqingâs face was dark. “Matchmaking Festival? He doesn’t deserve it!”
Zhao Sihai said, “Look on the bright side. Maybe the Guanzhu will happen upon a new flame at the festival.” After saying this, even he didn’t quite believe it.
If there really was a new flame, they wouldn’t even get to say a few words to the Guanzhu before being poisoned to death by Song Yilou.
For a person like the Guanzhu, without a long period of time as a foundation, it was impossible to get close to his heart or leave a mark. As long as Song Yilou didn’t die, the person beside the Guanzhu would only ever be Song Yilou.
In the cultivation world, things always became extraordinarily giant. For instance, the giant coral before them spanned an entire island.
Flying boats and sea vessels approached the Coral Island like schools of fish drawing close. Only upon nearing did one realize more clearly how massive this coral was; a ship over ten meters wide wasn’t even as thick as one small branch on the coralâs outermost edge.
As the Coral Matchmaking Festival drew near, there were an exceptional number of demons on the island, and fights were frequent. Most were over jealousyâlike the demon currently being swatted toward Yun Wuxiangâs feet.
Before the demon on the ground could even crawl up, a leg extended beside him and kicked him back into the fighting mob.
Song Yilou, having cleared the roadblock, turned his gaze back to Yun Wuxiang. “Guanzhu, itâs so lively here.”
Yun Wuxiang: “Mm.”
It was indeed lively, but Yun Wuxiang didn’t have much interest in activities like matchmaking that were full of pink bubbles. He was more interested in getting his hands on the Black and White Floating Life Flower early.
“Who ambushed me!” The demon who had been kicked twice crawled up in a rage, glaring fiercely around to find his target. However, his voice instantly vanished the moment he saw the succubus across from him. “Lady Man She.”
Beside Man She stood Yun Wuxiangâs boatmen. The demons capable of entering the Fenhai Secret Realm were all elites of their respective tribes, and even the few rogue cultivators were geniuses among rogue demons. Their appearance and talent were both excellent. In this current setting, they were a group of high-quality lover candidates.
“As expected of a succubus, she actually brought so many demons.”
“Lady Man She came to Coral Island?”
“Lady Man She is looking for a lover?”
