Part 2
“Lady Man She already has lovers—a whole group of them!”
“As expected of a genius of the Succubus Tribe. She actually dares to bring a group of lovers to Coral Island and isn’t even afraid they’ll start fighting.”
The boatmen, witnessing the birth of rumors with their own eyes, had varying expressions. A few shameless ones even accepted the setting, adding mud to the succubus’s reputation one sentence at a time.
“Man She, tell them that the demon you love most is me. They are just distractions for your idle time.”
“Based on who came first, I am number one. Who the ‘distraction’ is remains to be seen.”
“If you could capture Lady Man She’s heart, would we even be here? Losers shouldn’t stick around and make a fool of themselves.”
Man She’s smile was more perfunctory than ever. “Everyone, don’t argue. I value each and every one of you.”
“Man She.” A hand meant to provoke desire pushed through the crowd, and the protagonist who had triggered this brawl stepped out.
Dressed in a greatcoat with his inner robe loosely draped over his shoulders, a male succubus who seemed to have the words “romantic” and “sexy” carved all over his body lifted his eyes. His eyes, full of affectionate ripples, swept over the demons beside Man She. “You made a trip to the Secret Realm and had quite the harvest. How about letting me have two?”
The succubus’s gaze wandered through the demons like he was picking snacks, finally moving to Yun Wuxiang and Song Yilou. “A type I’ve never seen…”
!!!
Man She was so scared her soul nearly flew away. She hurriedly wrenched his head back. “Second Uncle, you also think they look like a very well-matched couple, right!”
I’m pinching you hard—don’t seek death, my dear uncle!
“Hiss, right. They look like a loving pair of partners at first glance. I was going to ask if you two need any little toys to spice things up?” The succubi allowed out by the tribe to roam were all shrewd. Second Uncle changed his tune instantly.
In the blink of an eye, he gave Man She a look: Still not letting go? Do you want to pinch your Second Uncle to death?
“What toy— hmph.” A talisman sealed Song Yilou’s mouth. Yun Wuxiang said coldly, “No need.”
“Go to the Merman Tribe’s territory.”
Second Uncle’s gaze swept over the seal on Song Yilou’s mouth. This veteran of romance gave a meaningful smile. “You are going to the Merman Tribe’s territory? Currently, the entrance is blocked by Coral Island. It will only appear after the Red Thread Blessing when the island sinks back underwater. Looking at the fluctuations, the blessing should be in the next day or two. Why don’t you all find a place to stay and enjoy yourselves here for a while?”
A fingertip slid across his palm, brushing the skin—it was itchy. Yun Wuxiang gripped that finger, his eyes sweeping over the Ghost Gu whose mouth was sealed.
[Guanzhu, I want a reward.]
[If I work without a reward, I’ll pull a dirty trick, hehehe.]
[Play with me. We are Dao Companions! The best-matched pair here!]
[Guanzhu hasn’t been to this kind of place before; aren’t you curious at all?]
Annoying.
“You two are a match made in heaven, a perfect pair. This ‘Everlasting Vow’ coral bracelet is just like a red marriage thread; wearing it on your wrist means you’ll keep the other locked in for a lifetime.”
Song Yilou squatted before a stall, listening to the cultivator selling his wares as he held up two coral bracelets for promotion.
Yun Wuxiang, holding Song Yilou’s scorpion braid, had been led here by him. The braid in his hand was like a pet leash; that’s right, he was just taking his pet out for some air.
His robe was tugged twice at the leg. Yun Wuxiang looked down into Song Yilou’s sparkling eyes. He looked like a small animal begging for food from its master—obedient and adorable. Even though Yun Wuxiang knew his nature well, he was sometimes blinded by this skin.
Yun Wuxiang, acting as the owner, reached for his storage ring. “How many Demon Crystals?”
The stall owner’s smile became sycophantic instantly. “Give whatever you think is fair.”
Yun Wuxiang, unfamiliar with the Demonic Realm’s market prices, knew he was likely being ripped off, but it didn’t matter. The thing he had most of now was Demon Crystals.
He took the bracelet and put it on Song Yilou. Seeing Song Yilou’s gaze as he shook his wrist to look at the bracelet, Yun Wuxiang suddenly felt a sense of accomplishment from buying a gift for a pet. Was this why modern people liked keeping cats and dogs?
Song Yilou put the other bracelet on Yun Wuxiang and nodded with satisfaction. Since the Guanzhu had bought it for him, there was no need to poison the stall owner and rob him.
The stall owner, who had smiled like a blooming flower upon receiving the crystals, felt a chill down his back. There must be a demon trying to rob my crystals—better pack up and leave quickly!
Behind the two, Second Uncle poked Man She. “Buying that with Demon Crystals… are you following a Demon Crystal mine owner?”
Man She replied, “Watch your wording. The one with the scorpion braid is very jealous. I don’t want to die young.”
“A Di grade ghost, his cultivation is still quite unstable, but his aura is strange.” As for the other white-haired demon, he actually couldn’t see through the other’s cultivation. Second Uncle put an arm around Man She. “To make you this cautious… what exactly is that person’s background?”
Man She: “I just came out of the Fenhai Secret Realm.”
An old monster from the Secret Realm—troublesome. Second Uncle patted her shoulder. “Good luck. Your uncle can’t help you with anything. What about that girl Lu Tu? She didn’t come out?”
“She’s mining Demon Crystals in the Secret Realm.”
“There really is a mine. No wonder they don’t care about Demon Crystals.” Second Uncle looked again, but the two by the stall had already vanished. “They’re gone. Aren’t you going to follow?”
Man She lifted her hand; her fingertips were turning black.
Second Uncle was shocked. “When were you poisoned?”
Man She skillfully pulled out a detoxification pill and stuffed it into her mouth. “It’s fine. I’m used to it. It won’t kill me.”
But if she kept following, it might. Some ghosts clearly wanted to spend time alone as a couple.
“Guanzhu, I want to taste what that coral tastes like.”
Yun Wuxiang looked where Song Yilou was pointing. Among many red-toned coral branches grew a yellow one of a different color. It was shaped like a flower bud, yet it didn’t look like something edible no matter how one viewed it.
He remembered that coral was a biological structure formed from the secretions of coral polyps. Coral polyps… well, they were “bugs.” That was fine then; Song Yilou had grown up eating poisonous bugs.
It seemed Song Yilou hadn’t eaten a Gu insect for a while. Had he found food based on instinct?
A pet needed to be fed regularly. He didn’t seem to have fed Song Yilou anything; did this count as abuse? Likely not, as Song Yilou was still lively and full of energy.
How exactly was a Ghost Gu supposed to be raised? Was there a manual somewhere?
He’d ask 3339 when he had time; its database might have something.
Recalling the little Ghost Gu in the Heart Demon Illusion who could never eat his fill, Yun Wuxiang, feeling he might have let the Gu go hungry, became a bit more tolerant. He released Song Yilou’s braid, letting him go forage for himself, and warned, “Don’t rub against me after you eat.”
The braid fell onto his back. Song Yilou realized Yun Wuxiang had let go, so he stuffed the braid back into Yun Wuxiang’s hand. “Guanzhu, hold on tight. What if I get lost?”
Yun Wuxiang: “Run back yourself.”
“No way. I can’t be lost. I have a whole group of love rivals waiting to exploit a gap. I’ll kill them all clean sooner or later. One Song Yilou in this world is enough.” Song Yilou showed his fangs darkly.
Pitch-black chains wrapped around Song Yilou’s arm. Yun Wuxiang asked, “Happy now?”
“Why can’t the Guanzhu climb the coral with me?” Song Yilou issued a “come play together” invitation.
Good grief, had Song Yilou learned some heart-bewitching methods from the succubi?
Yun Wuxiang used his Demonic Qi to cut a piece of the yellow coral and threw it into Song Yilou’s mouth, his probing gaze studying the puffed-out cheeks of the boy.
Probably not. An illiterate couldn’t learn techniques; Song Yilou didn’t have the brains for it.
Unknowingly, the air became somewhat stiflingly hot. Yun Wuxiang looked at the sky, which was gradually darkening. The demonic sun was setting and night was falling; where was this heat coming from?
It was coming from inside his body. It wasn’t the air that was hot, but himself.
Yun Wuxiang’s gaze sharpened instantly. His eyes, cold as frost, looked at the Ghost Gu chewing on coral at his leg. “Song Yilou.”
When he spoke, his voice was raspy, like a heavy cloud full of rain.
Song Yilou swallowed the coral. “Guanzhu, if I say I also just found out that the scent of this coral has an aphrodisiac effect, would you believe me?”
“I believe you. And I also believe in another saying: a pet becomes much more behaved after being neutered.” A black longsword condensed in Yun Wuxiang’s hand.
The sword light flashed, and a string of ghost-wails erupted in the coral forest.
“Waaaah! Dao Companions should dual cultivate! You can’t ruin our happiness for the rest of our lives!”
“This time really was an accident! Can we cut something else? I’m fine with cutting off arms or legs.”
Puchi. Song Yilou threw himself directly onto the demonic sword, catching the blade in his body. His two arms tightly hugged Yun Wuxiang, looking piteous. “Guanzhu~”
With the next sentence, the poor thing turned into a vengeful ghost: “Why won’t you dual cultivate with me?”
Yun Wuxiang: “Who would dual cultivate with a pet.”
“Yun Wuxiang, you want me to be obedient, yet you don’t allow the obedient pet to get close to you, kiss you, or possess you.”
Song Yilou’s pupils were filled with blood-red, containing a thick, long-suppressed desire. His stature increased, and he lunged with fierce force to pin the other down onto the coral branches.
His mouth pulled into a crazed arc, his smile blurred with madness, his tone soft as ghost-words whispered in the ear: “In that case, why should I still listen to you?”
“Kill me, hack me into eight pieces, skin and de-bone me, shatter my corpse into ten thousand parts—do as you wish. I want to dual cultivate.”
Facing the manic Ghost Gu, there was only calm in Yun Wuxiang’s eyes. He didn’t even bother to stir his killing intent. Song Yilou was going crazy; wasn’t this an expected event that was bound to happen? It was perfectly normal.
“Don’t be noisy. Let me think.”
Was it better to kill him for some peace for a while and then find another Song Yilou to raise, or should he change the way he raised him?
[Note from The Ghost Gu Raising Manual by Yun Wuxiang]
[Needs to be fed poisonous Gu (Strikethrough)]
[The Ghost Gu only wants to eat the owner; he will go crazy if he can’t. (Handwriting is forceful, deeply carved into the paper)]
