Chapter 1: Chen Wei, Why Are You Like a Housewife?
It was officially winter in Beicheng by December.
The cold air condensed within the cloud layers, and tiny ice crystals began to drift down from the sky.
On the set of a modern idol drama.
As the directorâs shout of “Cut!” echoed, Chen Weiâs final scene was officially finished.
In the drama, he played the unrequited second male leadâa mere tool used to facilitate the relationship between the leads.
Outside the drama, he was the lover Zhou Sijin kept by his side, though he possessed no official status.
Watching him walk off the set, his manager, Han Chi, quickly trotted over and shoved two bouquets of flowers, which were tucked with red envelopes, into his hands.
Chen Wei was stunned. “Brother Han?”
Generally, after a lead actor finished their role, the set director would specifically prepare flowers and red envelopes to celebrate.
But he was only a minor, thirty-eighth-tier star, a supporting character in the drama. Naturally, he didn’t receive such treatment.
Chen Wei himself didn’t actually place much importance on these things.
However, as his manager, Han Chi would specially prepare a bouquet of flowers for him every time he finished a project.
Chen Wei looked down at the two large bouquets in his arms, then looked up at Han Chi with a face full of confusion.
Han Chi explained for him, “Someone delivered these to the edge of the set, saying it was to celebrate your wrap-up.”
Chen Wei raised an eyebrow.
Han Chi offered his own guess: “Maybe one of your fans found out you were finishing today and sent them specifically.”
Han Chiâs analysis wasn’t without merit. Chen Wei nodded and didn’t speak further.
As the two walked out of the set, they saw several fans waiting outside.
Snowflakes were fluttering in the sky. Even though they wore thick down jackets, their small faces and noses were still flushed red from the cold.
The moment they saw Chen Wei emerge, the group, which had been listless just a moment ago, immediately perked up. They waved their hands energetically to greet him.
Chen Wei stopped in his tracks, turned to Han Chi, and said something.
After nodding repeatedly, Han Chi turned and jogged away.
Once Han Chi left, Chen Wei walked toward his fans.
Logically, as a celebrity, Chen Wei should have maintained a basic distance from his fans.
But Chen Wei didn’t care about those things.
It was the fans’ affection that had elevated him to this position.
As a person, the most important thing was to never forget one’s roots!
Moreover, on such a cold day, those young girls had clearly been waiting here for a long time.
He didn’t want to disappoint them.
Fortunately, everyone was very polite, standing with Chen Wei separated by a fence.
They lined up to hand their letters to him.
Chen Wei accepted them one by one.
There were no eye-catching giftsâonly the simplest handwritten letters filled with the fans’ affection.
In the past, people had tried to give Chen Wei luxury gifts, but as time went on, everyone discovered that Chen Wei seemingly only ever accepted handwritten letters.
Over time, everyone’s way of expressing their love for Chen Wei had changed into writing him a letter by hand.
After the letters were collected, it was time for signatures and group photos.
Once everything was done, Han Chi also ran back, carrying two large bags filled to the brim.
The bags contained steaming hot milk tea and unopened hand warmers.
Chen Wei and Han Chi handed the items to the fans one by one.
As they accepted them, the fans thanked Chen Wei warmly, “Thank you, Baby A-Wei.”
There was no distance between star and fan; their interaction was casual and natural.
Once the distribution was finished, Chen Wei waved goodbye to the fans.
“Thank you for your company. Everyone, go home early tonight.”
The fans only turned to leave with their milk tea once they saw Chen Wei step into his van, acting as sensible as they always were.
Chen Wei withdrew his gaze from the window.
The phone placed beside him immediately chimed with a message.
Chen Wei picked it up and unlocked it.
The message was from Zhou Sijin, asking where he was.
Chen Wei replied:
[Just finished filming. Getting ready to head back to the hotel.]
Zhou Sijin only replied with three words:
[Come here.]
Below was an attached location for a hotel.
Chen Wei didn’t bother replying. He put away his phone and leaned back against the seat to rest with his eyes closed.
The van stopped at the hotel entrance.
But it wasn’t the hotel Zhou Sijin had sent him.
Chen Wei followed his manager, Han Chi, out of the car. After saying goodnight to Han Chi, he returned to his own room.
After putting the letters away, he casually stripped off his clothes and headed straight into the bathroom.
After cleaning himself thoroughly from head to toe, Chen Wei stepped out and opened the closet to change into a new set of clothes.
He put on a mask and a hat, ensuring his current appearance wouldn’t be easily recognized, before heading back out.
He hailed a cab outside the hotel.
As soon as he got in, he gave the driver the address of the hotel Zhou Sijin had mentioned.
The driver glanced at Chen Wei through the rearview mirror.
Feeling the driverâs gaze, Chen Wei simply closed his eyes to feign sleep.
The streets near midnight weren’t very crowded.
Even so, it was half an hour later by the time Chen Wei reached his destination.
He showed his ID to the front desk.
Knowing he was the person the VIP in the penthouse suite was looking for, the receptionist didn’t dare say much and handed the room card directly to him.
Chen Wei took the card upstairs.
After swiping for the elevator, it stopped steadily at the top floor.
The moment the elevator doors opened, before Chen Wei could even react, he was pulled out.
Having just showered, Chen Wei carried a pleasant scent.
Zhou Sijin pinned him against the wall, burying his head in Chen Weiâs neck, greedily inhaling his scent.
Nipping lightly at the flesh of his neck, Zhou Sijinâs tone was resentful, “Why did you come so slowly?”
Chen Wei tilted his head back slightly.
Zhou Sijin had been abroad for half a month; the two hadn’t seen each other in all that time.
At this moment, with just this light provocation from Zhou Sijin, his breathing had already become disorganized.
“I just wrapped up. I was covered in makeup, so I went back to the hotel to shower.”
Hearing this, Zhou Sijin looked up from his neck.
Chen Wei met his gaze.
Zhou Sijin was a germaphobe, so every time Chen Wei saw him, he would finish his preparations in advance.
This was also why Zhou Sijin hadn’t grown tired of him despite being together for three years.
He was tactful and sensible, never dampening Zhou Sijinâs mood for no reason.
Zhou Sijin smirked as he took off Chen Wei’s hat and mask, tossing them onto the floor.
“You prepared everything so thoroughly, so how could you forget these two things?”
He raised an eyebrow slightly. “Did you do it on purpose?”
Chen Wei remained silent.
He had been pulled into Zhou Sijinâs arms before he even stepped out of the elevator.
Zhou Sijin hadn’t given him any time to react at all.
But he also knew that Zhou Sijin was someone who never listened to explanations.
He simply looped his arms around Zhou Sijinâs neck and said, “Next time, I’ll take them off in the elevator beforehand.”
Zhou Sijin laughed.
Chen Wei didn’t understand why he was laughing.
Then he saw Zhou Sijinâs meaningful gaze drop to him, and he heard Zhou Sijin use a playful, teasing tone:
“Chen Wei, why do you seem so domestic, like a housewife?”
