Chapter 34: Elder Brother is Coming part 1
At Yun Yingzhi’s insistence, the two returned to Fanse Academy.
Yun Yingzhi was despondent the entire way.
After getting off the hovercar, he and Yun Yingyao got into another argument. The two almost came to blows, but Yun Yingyao ultimately forced herself to endure it.
It wasn’t over anything major.
Tomorrow, a group of Fanse Academy’s most outstanding students would be undergoing collective special training. Out of the entire first-year class, only Yun Yingyao had been selected.
They were well aware that the opportunity Yun Yingyao had received was hard-won. Even now, many students were still saying that she only got the spot through her relationship with Huai Boshe.
Yun Yingyao told Yun Yingzhi that she had decided not to go.
According to the doctors from the two major hospitals, Yun Yingzhi could give birth to a small baby in its second form at any moment starting from today.
Yun Yingyao didn’t want Yun Yingzhi to attend school, nor did she feel comfortable leaving him alone. She wanted to stay behind to take care of him.
It was over this issue that the two had a massive row, which only ended when Yun Yingzhi brought up Madame Yun.
Yun Yingzhi said that Yun Yingyao was Madame Yun’s hope.
Madame Yun hoped that Yun Yingyao could reach the peak of success. Yun Yingzhi told her that he didn’t want to become a stumbling block in her path to growth in any way.
Because he didn’t want to make his mother hate him even more like that.
Emanating a cold aura, Yun Yingyao fell silent.
It was already seven in the evening. In early winter, the days grew short, and the sky was already completely dark by seven. Night lights illuminated the streetscape, while further away, everything was swallowed by darkness.
Yun Yingzhi walked toward the second-year dormitory area.
Since Yun Yingyao and Yun Yingzhi lived in different dormitories, she stared at his retreating back for a moment. After some hesitation, she followed closely behind him.
At this moment, Yun Yingyao’s gaze toward Yun Yingzhi was filled with worry. Even though many people at Fanse Academy currently believed that Yun Yingzhi was the “Little Battle Bunny” from the Yaoming Arena, she still harbored deep doubts about it.
In her understanding, whenever she and Yun Yingzhi fought as children, he was clearly the one who always lost. He was just very fragile.
Now that he was carrying two children, he was naturally even more brittle than glass or porcelain.
What relieved Yun Yingyao was that, although some students were tactless enough to try and approach Yun Yingzhi on the way back to the dorms, they all took the hint and walked away under her “death stare.”
What Yun Yingyao didn’t know was that Yun Yingzhi actually felt a bit awkward.
He knew she had been following him the whole time. However, since he didn’t know exactly what she was thinking and knew she would be leaving tomorrow anyway, he decided to just let her keep following.
But what left Yun Yingzhi speechless was that whenever anyone spoke to him, Yun Yingyao’s death stare would fixate on them, as if she were ready to whip out a forty-meter-long cleaver at the slightest provocation.
The current Yun Yingyao felt like a bomb about to explode—whoever was tactless enough would be the one to get blown up.
He highly doubted whether she had heard the things those fleeing students were saying about her in private.
To prevent Yun Yingyao from continuing to break her character persona, Yun Yingzhi quickened his pace toward the dormitory area.
Finally, he arrived at the dormitory and breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a familiar person blocked his path. His eyelids jumped wildly; it was Huai Boshe.
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
Huai Boshe looked at him and said, “Yingzhi, I’m leaving tomorrow. Before I go, I want to say goodbye to you alone.”
In this moment, Huai Boshe only saw Yun Yingzhi, failing to notice the cold-faced Yun Yingyao standing behind him.
Before Yun Yingzhi could refuse, Yun Yingyao suddenly strode forward.
Huai Boshe froze upon seeing her. “A-Yao, you’re here too?” He quickly noticed something was wrong. “A-Yao, what happened? Why are your eyes so red?”
Yun Yingyao’s bloodshot pupils narrowed slightly. She gave Yun Yingzhi a push, stood in front of Huai Boshe, and raised her right hand high, swinging it down for a fierce slap.
Watching the interaction from the side, Yun Yingzhi trembled, fully expecting the slap to land.
However…
In that moment, one had to admit that Huai Boshe’s reflexes were impressive. He reached out and accurately grabbed her wrist just before the blow could connect.
Yun Yingyao’s face was ice-cold, her eyes red, and her entire body emitted a freezing aura.
Yun Yingzhi shuddered. While he found her a bit terrifying, he also felt it was a great pity that the slap didn’t land.
Soon, however, he no longer felt it was a pity.
After Huai Boshe caught her wrist and gently asked once more, “A-Yao, did I do something to upset you?” Yun Yingyao maintained her posture with her wrist held, neither moving nor speaking.
Yun Yingzhi blinked. Taking advantage of their entanglement, he quickened his pace toward the dormitory building.
And then…
—Slap!
A crisp slapping sound rang out.
Yun Yingzhi froze and instinctively turned around. He saw that while her right hand was still held by Huai Boshe, her left hand had successfully delivered a slap to his face.
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
(⊙o⊙)!
(⊙o⊙) Not just Yun Yingzhi, but many people hiding in the shadows to watch had the exact same expression. They were truly shocked.
The smile on Huai Boshe’s face vanished, replaced by a gloomy shadow in his eyes.
Yun Yingyao seemed to realize what she had done after the fact. Her unfocused eyes looked at him, and after a pause, she said, “…Sorry, I just mistook you for someone else. Do you want to hit me back?” She asked with a serious face.
Huai Boshe: “…”
Yun Yingzhi blinked. For the first time, he felt that Yun Yingyao was super, super amazing when facing a scumbag.
Huai Boshe asked, “…A-Yao, of course I won’t be angry with you. But can you tell me who made you so upset?”
Yun Yingyao expressionlessly uttered a single syllable: “Heh.”
Huai Boshe released her wrist and said, “A-Yao, wait for me. I’m going to say goodbye to Yingzhi.”
Yun Yingyao narrowed her eyes and said nothing, but she suddenly gripped his wrist with great force.
Huai Boshe felt his wrist was a bit—or rather, very—painful.
Huai Boshe: “…” After a pause, he said, “A-Yao, the strength in your hand…”
Yun Yingyao’s glowing pupils shifted to meet his gaze. “…My strength isn’t that great. Did a casual grab really hurt you?”
Huai Boshe felt a subtle sense that she might be mocking his combat prowess. He said, “…No.”
Yun Yingyao released his wrist.
Their eyes moved simultaneously to the spot she had gripped for a few seconds. A circle of blue and purple bruises had already appeared, looking quite pathetic.
Huai Boshe: “…”
Yun Yingyao: “…”
Yun Yingzhi didn’t want to talk to Huai Boshe at all. Just as he intended to run, brilliant fireworks illuminated the sky.
Everyone, including Yun Yingzhi, was stunned and looked up.
Whispers broke out one after another.
Similar situations happened often; when fireworks lit up the sky, it meant a student was confessing to their crush.
Yun Yingzhi’s eyelids jumped.
From childhood to adulthood, he had often been confessed to in similar ways. At his busiest, it happened three to five times a month; at the very least, he would face it once every two months.
He felt that, just in case, it was better to escape before the actual confession happened.
Just as he was about to flee, the space around him fluctuated, and a figure appeared in front of him, blocking his way.
The corner of Yun Yingzhi’s mouth twitched. He maintained a calm facade while inwardly lamenting his slow escape speed.
It was Elvis.
The silver lining was that Elvis wasn’t holding roses. If he were, Yun Yingzhi felt he would die of embarrassment.
Elvis said, “Yingzhi, I like you.”
He didn’t have roses in his hand, but…
The moment Elvis appeared, rose petals fell overwhelmingly from above, and fireworks continuously bloomed, faded, and reignited in the sky.
The sky full of fireworks, the falling petals, and the candlelight appearing from all directions were far more impactful than a single bouquet of red roses.
Elvis was publicly declaring his possessiveness over Yun Yingzhi.
Like the restaurant before, and now the brilliant fireworks in the sky, everything he was doing had only one meaning: Yun Yingzhi belonged to him.
He was proclaiming his claim on Yun Yingzhi in the most high-profile manner possible.
Yun Yingzhi looked up slightly to meet Elvis’s gaze.
He thought of Madame Yun’s words.
He thought of what the doctor told him today: he had two babies in his belly, children belonging to him and Elvis.
Would accepting Elvis now be the same as using him?
However, if it weren’t for Madame Yun’s words, he wouldn’t accept Elvis anyway, even with the two children.
He didn’t love Elvis.
