Chapter 47: Public Execution and Disguised Official Declaration
“Making it yourself is what makes it interesting and unique.”
Those were Fu Yue’s exact words.
But now—
Two men, one drink.
An invisible current crackled between Ji Hanmo and Pei Luomian.
Everyone in the box stopped what they were doing.
Even Ji Linye, who had been playing Tarot cards with Chen Bai, turned his gaze over, his eyes filled with the amusement of watching a good show.
After all, scenes where his elder brother was snubbed were rare.
Scenes where Pei Luomian was left embarrassed were also extremely scarce.
Monica’s face was expressionless, but her heart was in turmoil.
Pei Zhen had a smile on his lips, looking as though he regretted not having a bowl of melon seeds on hand.
Only Chen Bai was oblivious, still busy counting Tarot cards.
Looking at the two men in front of him, Fu Yue suddenly laughed.
With a flick of his wrist, he skillfully avoided the directions of the two men.
The “Sunset Coral” came to a sudden halt on the table before making a sharp turn, stopping in front of the confused Chen Bai.
“Here, try it.”
“Huh? Is it for me?” Chen Bai was flattered.
He happily picked it up.
The expressions of Ji Hanmo and Pei Luomian darkened at the same time.
“Linye, look! Fu Yue mixed this specifically for me!” Chen Bai lifted the glass, looking at Ji Linye through the liquid.
“Let me try some too!” Ji Linye reached out to grab it.
“No way.”
“No?” Ji Linye smiled. “…Then tonight, you’d better not beg me for anything.”
The young couple began to show off their affection publicly.
The atmosphere in the room returned to normal.
Fu Yue was happy to see this and went to grab the shaker again, intending to mix another one for himself.
The previous one hadn’t been made well; his hand had slipped, and the vodka and gin were poured too heavily.
The two on the other side were still laughing and playing.
“Ah!”
Splash—
A moment ago, Ji Linye had restrained Chen Bai’s wrist and leaned in to drink from his glass.
Chen Bai’s grip slipped, and the liquid spilled out.
Half of the “Sunset Coral” was splashed onto Ji Hanmo, who was nearby.
A wet patch appeared on his light-colored shirt.
Ji Hanmo’s brow twitched, but he didn’t look angry.
He only glanced at Ji Linye before standing up. “I’ll go change.”
Ji Hanmo left, and Ji Linye called a waiter in to clean up.
Chen Bai seemed a bit nervous about spilling the drink on the CEO and his future “brother-in-law.”
He finished the remaining half-glass of wine in one go. Afterward, he shrank into a corner, quietly acting like a little mushroom.
Unbeknownst to him, the high-concentration alcohol was quietly taking effect in his body.
“President Ji, I heard the Ji Group intends to do a near-field communication payment project?” Pei Luomian turned to Ji Linye, acting as if nothing had happened, casually chatting about business.
“Director Pei is quite well-informed.”
“I’ve heard a bit.” Pei Luomian smiled.
The two of them exchanged a few words. The conversation lacked substance and was purely “filler talk.”
However, the awkwardness in the box had been skillfully salvaged by Pei Luomian.
“Chancellor Pei, how did you mix that rainbow drink?” Fu Yue asked Pei Zhen for advice.
In this seemingly harmonious atmosphere, no one noticed that Chen Bai, in the corner, was getting redder and redder, his gaze becoming blurry.
Finally, the alcohol seized control of his brain.
He slapped his thigh and stood up.
Under everyone’s bewildered gazes, Chen Bai walked straight to Fu Yue, hooked his arm around his shoulder, and loudly asked a question that had been buried deep in his heart:
“Young Master Fu!”
Chen Bai shouted, “You said last time that the person you like gave you a pair of couple’s cufflinks. Platinum base, sapphire four-leaf clover—how come I’ve never seen you wear them?”
Chen Bai’s voice fell.
The entire room went silent instantly.
Pei Luomian’s smile froze slightly, his hand holding his glass stopping mid-air.
Fu Yue, on the other hand, felt as though he had been struck by lightning.
“Chen Bai, you’ve had too much to drink! Stop talking nonsense!” Fu Yue wanted to strangle Chen Bai.
But Chen Bai was stubborn. His face was flushed, and his beautiful large eyes were fixed on Fu Yue.
“I’m not drunk.” Chen Bai’s tone was a bit aggrieved. “You clearly told me that the person you like has eyes as black as ink, incredibly deep. As for their personality, they’re steady and domineering, and very wealthy…”
Fu Yue hurried to cover Chen Bai’s mouth, looking both angry and anxious.
Pfft.
Monica, sitting opposite them, suddenly laughed for some reason.
“Sorry, Young Master Fu.” Monica quickly apologized, but her expression still looked like she was struggling not to laugh.
No one noticed that the door to the box had been pushed open a crack, only to be closed again immediately.
After Monica laughed, Fu Yue’s extremely dark expression finally succeeded in cooling the scene down.
Only the drunk Chen Bai couldn’t receive the signal.
He broke free from Fu Yue’s hand over his mouth and continued, “Fu Yue, you also told me… you haven’t ‘done’ it yet…”
Seeing that Chen Bai was about to reveal even more false details, Fu Yue just wanted to drag him out of the room immediately.
To his surprise, Ji Linye delivered a killing blow.
“Young Master Fu,” he stood up, his long legs easily helping him rescue Chen Bai from Fu Yue’s “clutches.” “Tell us about it. Who is this person of yours?”
“I said there’s no such thing! Don’t you guys start too!” Fu Yue’s forehead was sweating as he waved his hands in explanation.
But looking around, he only saw teasing in everyone’s eyes.
System, is there some kind of memory-erasing technique? The kind that works right now, immediately!
Fu Yue called out to the system in despair.
[Host, pfft, I’m sorry, that function is not available. You might want to consider facing life head-on.]
This damn system was actually eavesdropping and laughing!
Fu Yue: What use are you!
“President Ji—” Pei Luomian started, wanting to mediate again.
“What are you talking about? It seems very lively.” At that moment, a deep male voice arrived.
The door to the box opened.
Ji Hanmo had changed into a clean black shirt and walked in calmly.
Seeing this, Fu Yue breathed a sigh of relief.
In places where Ji Hanmo was present, the atmosphere was inevitably solemn; they wouldn’t be able to keep messing around.
However, Fu Yue felt that Monica’s gaze was a bit off.
“Brother,” Ji Linye suddenly spoke, “Why were you so slow to change your shirt? Did you walk to the door and then turn back just now? Did you forget something and go back to get it?”
Ji Linye was clearly sharp-eyed.
“Hmm.” Ji Hanmo gave a faint response, seemingly indifferent.
He walked to the bar, naturally picked up a glass of wine, and casually raised his wrist.
That was the moment—
With his movement, on the cuff of his well-fitted black shirt, an exquisite platinum cufflink caught everyone’s eye.
The design was elegant and unique, with a central sapphire cut into a four-leaf clover shape, as deep as a patch of starlight.
That style, that luster, that unique design…
The room became silent, as if the sound of a pin dropping on the carpet could be heard.
Everyone’s gaze moved frantically between the cufflinks on Ji Hanmo’s wrist and Fu Yue’s face.
Fu Yue’s expression changed completely.
His brain buzzed; all he could see now were those damn gemstone cufflinks.
It’s over! he thought.
Isn’t this basically a ‘disguised official declaration’ of our relationship?
