Part 2
Yun Yingzhi’s cheeks were beet red. He thinned his lips into a line, telling himself not to care that others said he was like a little pig. He quickened his pace and rushed toward the venue.
Every minute of the competition was money. Rather than worrying about what others said, it was better to save money.
As a military student, his speed was superior to the vast majority of source weapon manufacturers. To them, his running speed was like a gust of wind, and he charged into the venue like a whirlwind.
The other participants watched, dumbfounded.
One of them remarked, “…With that speed and agility, his second form definitely isn’t what you guys think.”
Yun Yingzhi really wanted to shout at them: My second form is a rabbit! A rabbit!
However, there was nothing to be proud of regarding a rabbit second form, so he remained silent and said nothing.
Soon, all participants were present.
The notification sounded, and the afternoon session continued. The livestream drones circled the entire venue, and the audience in the chat rooms could watch various participants manufacturing source weapons.
Yun Yingzhi had spent all morning processing materials. This afternoon, he decided to perform the most difficult step—the inscriptions. For the final hours of the evening, he decided to do the finishing touches.
He gathered his processed materials and began the inscriptions in stages.
The first inscription: Space-Restricted Inscription.
The difficulty of the preliminaries wasn’t high. Many participants had already finished their source weapons early and were spending the remaining time observing the situations of others.
A crowd’s gaze had already shifted to Yun Yingzhi.
Because he had processed so many materials in the morning, they had assumed he was just there to practice his material processing technique. However, to their surprise, he had actually started the inscriptions.
Even more shocking to them was the incredible speed at which he performed the inscriptions.
Generally, manufacturers were very slow during the inscription phase, but Yun Yingzhi was different; his speed was lightning fast.
Inscriptions had a low tolerance for error and high difficulty. One mistake could lead to total failure, and once a slip occurred, it was almost impossible to salvage.
Even more people gathered around to observe him.
Source weapon manufacturers were divided into two types: those who liked to innovate and research inscriptions on their own, and those who used pre-existing inscriptions created by others.
In the theoretical classes of the Source Weapon Manufacturing Department, students were often required to memorize all sorts of inscriptions.
As they watched Yun Yingzhi’s inscriptions, they seemed very complex. They couldn’t quite understand them, but one thing was certain: they were not common inscriptions.
They didn’t even know what type of effect he was engraving.
Some people whispered their guesses.
Soon, they witnessed a scene that left them speechless. Through this scene, they realized once again that Yun Yingzhi was indeed pulling wool.
After processing similar materials in an assembly-line fashion this morning, he now performed the inscriptions by putting down the first semi-finished product, picking up the second piece of material, and continuing with the exact same inscription.
It was an identical inscription.
A student in an Eiffel Academy uniform said, “I think his inscription method is very casual.”
“It’s an independent inscription. It should be a rare one; the Star Network has no related records either.”
Yun Yingzhi’s concentration was extremely high. He let them guess as much as they wanted, but he didn’t give them a single glance, his hands moving with rapid speed.
Suddenly, someone said, “I think he just said something.”
“What did he say?”
“I didn’t hear clearly, but looking at his lip movements, it looked like he was just… ‘Heeheehee’?”
Everyone: “…”
Following that person’s words, Yun Yingzhi had already completed the space-restricted inscriptions for the fourth source weapon in batches, his speed almost leaving an afterimage.
“So fast.”
“Processing materials like an assembly line, performing the same inscriptions like an assembly line… with so many materials left, how many source weapons is he planning to make?”
Their gazes landed on the first semi-finished weapon. The exterior hadn’t been processed yet. Because of the inscriptions, the inside of the ring was filled with rows of intricate patterns.
The more inscriptions there were, the higher the failure rate. They wondered in their hearts: were the inscriptions in the semi-finished weapons Yun Yingzhi was making actually complete and functional?
As they were thinking, a staff member stepped forward and said, “Hello, Participant A13167.”
Yun Yingzhi finished the last line of the space-restricted inscription on his fifth semi-finished product. He lifted his gaze to meet the staff member’s eyes, then caught sight of the many people surrounding him out of the corner of his eye.
Yun Yingzhi: “…”
He glanced around, adjusted his hat brim, and glared back at each one, signaling them with his eyes not to pay too much attention to him and to mind their own business.
The crowd subtly understood his meaning from his glare. Some of the thin-skinned people left on their own, while the thick-skinned ones pretended they didn’t see and continued to watch.
The staff member said, “Participant A13167, we’ve noticed you have already completed multiple source weapons. Do you wish to submit them?”
Yun Yingzhi immediately shook his head. He thought to himself that the remaining time was for pulling wool; submitting was impossible. “No, I’m not satisfied. I plan to continue optimizing them.”
The staff member nodded. “Alright, then I wish you success in making a weapon that satisfies you.”
Yun Yingzhi added, “Until the competition ends, I hope the organizers do not disturb me!” He was determined to pull wool until the very last second.
The staff member: “…Alright.”
Yun Yingzhi returned all his focus to manufacturing.
What he didn’t know was that the livestream chat had already been flooded with “Hahahaha” comments.
Among so many participants in Venue 1, the one who used the most materials was Yun Yingzhi—directy more than ten times the amount used by others, and the materials were all Grade Five and Six.
A group in the chat said that the staff member hadn’t asked anyone else; they had only asked Yun Yingzhi if he wanted to submit early. It was clear just how much wool he had fleeced from the organizers.
While the livestream audience was laughing, Yun Yingzhi had already manufactured eight semi-finished source weapons.
Then, they witnessed a scene that shocked them.
Yun Yingzhi picked up the first source weapon again.
Using the materials he had already prepared, he began adding the second inscription to the first semi-finished weapon.
At that instant, the chat for Venue 1 paused for a few seconds. Then, rows of exclamation marks and “Good heavens” comments flooded the screen.
However, to the regret of the audience, the drone moved on, and they couldn’t continue observing him.
The second batch Yun Yingzhi added were passive skills, followed by another batch for the second passive inscription.
Eight space-restricted inscriptions, eight passive inscriptions for protecting allies within a selected range, plus eight escape inscriptions.
Inscribing over twenty in one go made even Yun Yingzhi feel a bit tired. But thinking of the money he was saving, he regained his spirit.
Next was adding skills with different attributes to these ten source weapons.
From 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM, Yun Yingzhi successfully completed eight source weapons: five Grade Six and three Grade Five.
The materials he had processed in the morning were used up perfectly.
If those raw materials had been used to make ordinary source weapons, at least twenty or more could have been produced. But the ones Yun Yingzhi made were complex; each weapon had an average of eight combined inscriptions, resulting in a final count of only eight finished weapons.
This was all the wool he had pulled.
Yun Yingzhi hated that he only had one pair of hands and couldn’t pluck the sheep completely bare.
After the rest break from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, there were three more hours of wool-pulling time. With only three hours, he couldn’t use the assembly-line method. He was a bit annoyed that he had been too conservative when processing materials in the morning.
Feeling regretful, he quickened his pace and rushed out. After eating, he rushed back to the lounge, found a spot, and fell asleep instantly, his breathing exceptionally steady.
Yun Yingzhi’s series of actions left everyone in awe.
When the alarm sounded, he didn’t really want to get up. But hearing someone whisper the words “He’s definitely here to pull wool,” his brain instantly cleared. He got up immediately and bolted toward the venue like a whirlwind.
For the final three hours of the evening, Yun Yingzhi decided to first try making a Grade Six source weapon.
Making two would be too rushed and impossible, but with one, there should be time left over. But…
Who knew? Maybe after making a Grade Six, if there was still time, he could make a Grade Five? At such cheap prices, he could even use the final minutes to make a Grade Four!
