The Little Fool Saves the Masochistic Novel Protagonist CHAPTER 17

Chapter 17
Chi Abei found two collections of wrong questions in Lin Xiu’s room. Before, he had been nagging Lin Xiu to tutor him, but now he was quiet, sitting quietly next to Lin Xiu, writing diligently. His seriousness almost made Lin Xiu think he knew everything.
Lin Xiu curiously glanced over and found he was copying questions.
Lin Xiu: “…” Fine, consider it handwriting practice.
Chi Abei copied the questions he didn’t know. He originally wanted to ask Lin Xiu, but seeing Lin Xiu reviewing and doing his homework, he felt a little reluctant.
Lin Xiu went to work besides attending school, his time was already limited. If he had to waste more time on him, he was afraid he wouldn’t even get enough sleep.
Chi Abei copied these questions, planning to ask Jiang Yu at school tomorrow. Jiang Yu had plenty of time to dwell on psychological issues, might as well let him explain the questions.
It was almost eleven o’clock, and Chi Abei yawned.
Lin Xiu: “If you’re tired, go to sleep. Don’t wait for me.”
Chi Abei didn’t wait for him; he rubbed his eyes: “I’m not tired.”
He clearly looked tired. Lin Xiu closed his book: “Go to sleep.”
Chi Abei didn’t want to sleep; he still had some questions to copy. He looked up at Lin Xiu: “Brother, can I borrow this?”
Looking at the collections of wrong questions and exercise books in Chi Abei’s hands, Lin Xiu couldn’t remember why he kept these: “If you want it, take it. You don’t have to return it.”
After coaxing Chi Abei back to his room to sleep, Lin Xiu took his books to the next room.
The next morning, Lin Xiu picked up his phone and checked the time. Two seconds later, he sprang up from the bed.
He forgot to set an alarm last night—
He quickly got dressed and knocked on the next door: “Chi Abei, wake up, it’s 7:30!”
After washing his face, Lin Xiu saw that the next room was still quiet. He opened the door and saw the desk lamp twisted towards the bed, shining brightly, with Chi Abei sleeping soundly, hugging his pillow.
Lin Xiu went over and lifted the blanket. The exercise books fluttered out from under the blanket. Lin Xiu was about to bend down to pick them up when he discovered the person under the blanket was naked, wearing nothing at all. He was startled and quickly pulled the blanket back up.
He picked up the exercise books on the floor and put them back on the desk, then looked at the pile of clothes on the chair, with a white pair of underwear prominently displayed on top.
Lin Xiu was speechless: “…What kind of habits are these?”
He pushed Chi Abei through the blanket: “Chi Abei, wake up!”
Chi Abei didn’t know what time he fell asleep. He was extremely sleepy now, his eyes couldn’t even open. He buried his face in the pillow, muttering: “Five more minutes.”
Lin Xiu: “Not even one minute. You’re late.”
Chi Abei lifted his head, humming: “It’s already late, so five more minutes wouldn’t hurt, would it?”
Lin Xiu: “…” True, since he’s already late, what’s the difference between five minutes earlier or five minutes later?
Lin Xiu sighed. He leaned against the desk and played with his phone for five minutes. As soon as five minutes were up, he was about to call Chi Abei when Chi Abei, as if he had set a timer, got up by himself.
Chi Abei closed his eyes and reached out: “Brother, hand me my clothes.”
Lin Xiu glanced at the underwear on top of the clothes and hooked the chair to the bedside with his foot so he could get them himself: “You don’t wear clothes when you sleep?”
Chi Abei: “I like sleeping naked. It’s more comfortable.”
Seeing him pick up his underwear and about to lift the blanket, Lin Xiu put away his phone and walked out: “I’m going to buy some baozi (steamed buns). Hurry up.”
Chi Abei slowly put on his clothes. He wasn’t fully awake yet and was brushing his teeth in the bathroom with his eyes closed when he suddenly heard a loud noise from the yard…
“Lin Xiu, get out here! Don’t think you can get away with hiding from me all the time! Where did you take the old woman?!”
Chi Abei ran out and almost collided with the skinny man.
The man frowned: “Who are you?”
Chi Abei, holding his toothbrush, had toothpaste foam all over his mouth, and sputtered: “Who are you?”
Lin Weimin was stunned for two seconds, then cursed: “This is my house, damn it! I’m the owner of this house! Who are you? Trespassing!”
When Lin Xiu returned, he saw Lin Weimin locked out, clutching his finger and yelling curses: “You little bastard, get out here! I’ll kill you… Ow!”
Just now, the skinny man who looked like a ghost tried to break in, but Chi Abei quickly closed the door, not sure if he pinched his hand or if he just bumped it. Anyway, he looked pretty hurt.
Chi Abei locked the door, brushing his teeth and watching Lin Weimin through the glass.
“You damn…” Lin Weimin kicked the door fiercely: “Open the door!”
Chi Abei shook his head at Lin Weimin and turned to deal with the toothpaste in his mouth.
Lin Xiu found this scene somewhat amusing. It takes a villain to subdue a villain; encountering the little fool, Lin Weimin had met his match.
Lin Xiu went inside: “What are you doing here?”
Lin Weimin turned around, so angry he’d forgotten why he came. He pointed at the locked door and asked: “Who the hell is this kid?”
Lin Xiu: “My classmate.”
Lin Xiu bypassed him, went to the door and knocked: “Chi Abei, open the door.”
Chi Abei rinsed his mouth, came out refreshed, and opened the door: “Brother, you’re back.”
Lin Weimin’s finger was still hurting; seeing Chi Abei come out, he reached out to grab him, but Lin Xiu grabbed his arm and pushed him away.
Although Lin Weimin was thin, he was still a grown man. Being pushed by Lin Xiu, he was slammed against the wall. Lin Weimin froze for a moment, then heard Lin Xiu say: “Stay away from him. You can’t afford to break him.”
Lin Weimin belatedly realized that Lin Xiu was fighting him. He was already angry at the unexpected kid, and now his anger grew: “Damn it! I can’t afford it? Is his father some big shot?”
His father wasn’t, but his brother was almost as powerful as a big shot; neither were easy to mess with.
Lin Xiu stuffed the baozi into Chi Abei’s hands and sent him away: “Go tidy up my schoolbag.”
Chi Abei didn’t really want to go; he was afraid Lin Xiu would be bullied.
However, Lin Xiu didn’t give him a chance to stay outside, directly closing the door…
Chi Abei watched Lin Weimin through the door. He guessed who he was; he was probably Lin Xiu’s debt-ridden uncle.
He gambled away his money, angering his grandmother Lin to death, and even stole the house deed to sell the house the day Lin Xiu held his grandmother’s funeral. If it weren’t for him, Lin Xiu wouldn’t have accepted He Chenjiang’s help because he had nowhere to live.
Lin Weimin seemed to suddenly remember his purpose. He pointed at Lin Xiu: “Where the hell did you hide the old woman? I’m her son. This house will eventually be mine. You, a freeloader, really think you’re the first-in-line heir?”
Compared to his usual urgent attempts to chase him away, Lin Xiu’s voice showed no emotion: “I don’t want to inherit anything. I don’t want this house either, but I’ll say this, as long as Grandma is still alive, don’t even think about this house. Otherwise…” Lin Xiu took a step closer and said in a voice only they two could hear, “I’ll kill you.”
Lin Weimin looked at Lin Xiu in disbelief…
Lin Xiu was someone he had watched grow up. While not exactly soft, he would never have said such harsh words. Seeing Lin Xiu’s gaze, Lin Weimin suddenly shivered.
This kid, has he gone crazy?
“I raised you since you were little, and this is how you treat me?” Lin Weimin was panicking inside but wouldn’t back down: “I should have thrown you out to feed the dogs the day your mother abandoned you!”
Lin Xiu had heard worse in his past life. Such words meant nothing to him.
“Hindsight is 20/20, and besides, you didn’t raise me.” Lin Xiu opened the door, his voice returning to normal. He looked at Lin Weimin: “Anything else? If not, I have to go to school.”
