Part 4
Zong Hao finally left obediently, but before leaving, he specifically asked if he could come tomorrow.
Ning Yunyi remembered that the three-day limit hadn’t passed yet, so he said generously, “You can.”
Having received a positive answer, Zong Hao left reluctantly.
The next day, when Ning Yunyi woke up, the little cat cub was nestled in his arms, his eyes sparkling. Ning Yunyi pinched his little face. “Cub, close your eyes.”
The little cat cub didn’t know when he had woken up, but he closed his eyes obediently upon hearing this.
The next moment, he felt as if something had been placed around his neck. When he was allowed to open his eyes and looked down, his eyes instantly lit up. “Wow, Father, what is this? So pretty! It’s a little cat!”
Ning Yunyi helped him adjust the small golden cat on the pearl collar. It was a very small cartoon cat that looked very much like Ning Xiaomiaoāa golden, lively little cub hanging from the pearl collar. The little cub clearly loved it.
“Wear it for fun. If you’re not used to it, take it off.” Ning Yunyi had just made it as a little toy for the little guy. Not only did the little guy have one, but Mother Ning had one too.
It didn’t look as good on Ning Xiaomiao in his human form, but it would look great as a collar in his cat form.
The little guy really did love it. He immediately transformed into his cat form and hopped around with the little golden cat swinging, making Ning Yunyi play with him for a while before making him change back to wash up and go downstairs for breakfast.
When Ning Yunyi led the little cub downstairs, the Jinqian Turtle had already carried out the renyuās bathtub and placed it under the window. He was holding a basin to catch pearls while feeding the renyu nutrient solution, coaxing him as he fed: “Why aren’t you dropping pearls anymore? A-Yu, as the fifth member of this family, you have to be useful so we can create value for the Master and not be disliked. I can help with work and be a good servant, but you’re just an ornamental fish and you’re silly. It’s rare that the pearls you drop are useful…”
Ning Yunyi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when he heard this. How did the renyu become a pearl-making machine in just one night? “Jinqian Turtle, why are you making him cry when he’s not crying? Fine, stop feeding him that. Have breakfast with us in a moment.”
The turtle immediately shook his head like a rattle. “No, no, no. We’ll just eat this.”
They were all nutrient solutions; what was the difference?
Ning Yunyi gave a meaningful smile. “Really?”
The turtle nodded heavily, not only for himself but also by pressing the renyuās head down to nod with him.
Thus, not long after, when the fragrance wafted out from the kitchen, the turtle was dumbfounded. W-what is this? This old turtle has lived for nearly a hundred years and has never smelled anything so fragrant!
He couldn’t resist creeping along the wall to the kitchen door, closing his eyes to enjoy the scent. Suddenly, the door swung open with a hua-la, and the fragrance became even more intense.
It was a salty-savory scent mixed with the freshness of meat, making one’s mouth water.
When Ning Yunyi came out carrying two bowls of small wontons, he saw the turtleās suspicious-looking posture against the wall. Seeing Ning Yunyi, the turtle immediately revealed a wide smile, asking despite knowing the answer: “Master, is this our breakfast? It smells so good.”
Ning Yunyi stifled a laugh. “Ours? But I remember someone saying he and the renyu weren’t eating. The nutrient solutions are quite good; you two should eat those.”
The turtle wanted to cry but had no tears. Could he take back what he had said?
He hadn’t thought of a solution yet, but the renyu, who couldn’t resist the smell and hadn’t received a response, actually flipped himself out of the bathtub. Slapping his tail, he left a trail of water as he wobbled toward them. “Master, Master! Smells good! Want to eat!”
Seeing the water all over the floor, Ning Yunyi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He looked at the Jinqian Turtle. “There are two more bowls in the kitchen. Hurry up and scoop him back first, before he dries out.” Or heād truly become a piece of dried fish.
As soon as he spoke, a flash of light blurred before him. In the next moment, the renyu had been stuffed back into the bathtub, tail, head, and all. The turtleās face was pressed against the bewildered renyuās face as he smiled toward them. “Master, look, is this okay? Can we eat now?”
Ning Yunyi waved his hand helplessly. Another flash of light passed before his eyes. He had never seen a turtle run at such speed. Was his jingshenli really only A-grade?
When Zong Hao arrived and used his iris to open the door of the small building, he was greeted by the rich aroma of small wontons. He immediately sprinted in, closed the door with a flick of his tail, and crouched there, staring at Ning Yunyi expectantly.
[Meow.]
He intended to remind Ning Yunyi that he had arrived and it was time to eat. But after waiting for a long time, Ning Yunyi and the little cub didn’t even look back. Instead, the two nearby caught his attention.
The Jinqian Turtle was currently holding a bowl of wontons, dazed by the fragrance. If he had known that Interstellar people ate this well now, why would he have run away back then? Even if he were stewed into turtle soup, he would have stayed here no matter what.
Thinking about how many bowls he had missed over the past few decades, he beat his chest in regret.
The turtle looked at the silly renyu who had his mouth wide open, waiting to be fed. He smiled and began feeding him with a spoon. “Come, open wide. One for you.”
After that spoonful, he immediately switched to his own bowl. “One for me.”
Soon, it became: “Ah, one for you.”
Followed by: “One for me.”
But Zong Hao soon noticed the voice changed to: “One for me.”
“One for me.”
Zong Hao immediately rushed to Ning Yunyi’s side with full confidence, looking up: [Meow, meow!] He’s cheating! He’s stealing food!
As he spoke, his paw pointed directly at the turtle, who was trying to sneak an extra bite.
The turtle nearly choked. Hearing this, he glared at the big cat with his angry beady eyes. Ahhh, I’ll fight him!
But facing Ning Yunyi’s gaze, he immediately smiled obediently. “Master, Master Three misunderstood. I wanted to finish this bowl myself and let it cool down before feeding A-Yu. Look, he still has more than half a bowl left.”
Ning Yunyi smiled enigmatically. “Fine.”
Facing this dangerous look, the turtle immediately became honest. Even if he was craving more, he didn’t dare take even one more bite.
Hearing the term “Master Three,” Zong Hao’s mouth twitched. Yesterday he was the “Little-Little Master,” and now the turtle was being sarcastic? But soon Zong Hao couldn’t care about anything else. He stared blankly at the necklace hanging from the little guy’s neck. [??]
Could this be made from the tears that fish dropped?
