Chapter 110: The Princess Should Put a Muzzle on Me
Seeing these two clearly fallen into the foolish emotion of love, a trace of disdain flickered almost imperceptibly at the corner of Cang Jiu’s lips. He then walked behind Xie Qiang’s sofa, leaning down to rest his arms on her shoulders.
His hands were lightly entwined as he loosely embraced Xie Qiang, bringing his head close. “Princess~ shouldn’t we be heading out now~?”
Xie Qiang set down her teacup and raised her hand to brush the youth’s arms off her shoulders. She said to Hong Que and Sen Ji, “You two rest in the palace first. When your appointed time comes, come find me at the gallery.”
“No way!” Hong Que was the first to object. He stepped forward and gave Cang Jiu a warning look before taking Xie Qiang’s hand and gripping it tightly. “I want to go with you!”
Sen Ji also stood up from the sofa. His gaze swept over their joined hands, and after his eyelashes trembled slightly, he spoke in a low voice, “I’m coming too.”
Xie Qiang tried to pull her hand away but couldn’t. “Hong Que, let go. I can only take one person at a time; it’ll be inconvenient if there are too many.”
“Then just take me!” Hong Que muttered, not thinking it was a problem at all. “I can protect you too!”
“You can’t.” Xie Qiang tried to pull her hand away again. Just as she was about to frown and tell Hong Que she wouldn’t repeat herself, a shadow suddenly fell beside her.
Sen Ji reached out and gripped Hong Que’s wrist. He was clearly using force; the back of his hand—devoid of tactical gloves—showed protruding bones and veins. He said coldly, “She said to let her go.”
Hong Que was in so much pain he wanted to curse, but for the sake of his image in a certain someone’s heart, he endured it. He let go of Xie Qiang’s hand and glared down at Sen Ji. “If you’re so capable, don’t go either!”
Sen Ji remained silent. He met Xie Qiang’s grateful gaze, and a smile curled his lips slightly. “Go ahead, Princess. I will find you at the gallery at 10:00 AM sharp.”
Xie Qiang nodded quickly, grabbed the sleeve of Cang Jiu’s sweater, and hurried out of the reception hall.
Cang Jiu looked at her with amusement. “Why does the Princess look like she’s fleeing? Didn’t you send exhibition tickets to each of them yourself?”
“One for 8:00 AM, one for 10:00 AM, one for 3:00 PM, one for 5:00 PM, and another for 7:00 PM…”
Cang Jiu hissed, his silver-blue fox eyes filled with admiration. “The Princess truly is a master of time management! Xiao Jiu is impressed, truly impressed~”
“…” Xie Qiang glared at him. “You’re really noisy.”
“If the Princess doesn’t like my noise, you can cut out my tongue.”
The silver-haired youth parted his lower lip, smilingly sticking out the tip of his tongue. “If the Princess can bear to.”
The pale red tongue was very beautiful, its thickness thin and even. The tongue coating was a light white, and it was slightly curled and very elastic—a very healthy tongue.
Xie Qiang couldn’t help but reach out to pinch it and pull it outward.
“Mmph!” The youth let out a soft moan, the corners of his mouth becoming damp. He said unclearly, “Princess!”
His eyes were full of accusation, looking pitiful. Only then did Xie Qiang let go. “Didn’t you say I could cut out your tongue? You can’t even handle this much.”
Cang Jiu raised his sleeve to cover his mouth, his voice muffled. “I didn’t expect the Princess to be so heartless.”
Mhm, she could be even more heartless.
Xie Qiang lowered her head, operating her lightbrain, her voice as light as a breeze. “I’m meeting five nobles today. I’ll send you their names. Evaluate them and their families’ connections and value—see if they are qualified to be brought under our influence.”
Cang Jiu felt his lightbrain vibrate and couldn’t help but complain, “What did the Princess do yesterday that she had to wait until now to send this?”
A soft, sweet smile appeared on Xie Qiang’s face. “Take a guess?”
“Hmph.” The silver-haired youth instantly adopted a submissive posture, taking the girl’s hand and gently rubbing it. “Because the Princess wants to test my ability~”
Xie Qiang pulled her hand back. She watched the youth skillfully operate his lightbrain and casually asked some questions, from the Sentinel and Guide resources of each major combat zone to what he liked to eat and what games he liked to play. Just as his answers were becoming more and more rapid, she suddenly asked, “Cang Jiu, did you find out who hung the assassin’s corpse at the restaurant entrance?”
“Mhm, it was the Em—” The youth blurted out, then stopped abruptly. He blinked his fox eyes at Xie Qiang, his face looking miserable. “Princess, that’s cheating.”
“Then I’ll treat you to a meal.” Xie Qiang got into the hovering car, narrowing her feline eyes and smiling. “You can definitely complete the tasks I assigned while we eat, right?”
“Princess! You’ve become heartless since returning to the palace!” Cang Jiu protested. “How can you bear to exploit a little fox who only just recently reached adulthood!”
“In terms of heartlessness, I can’t compare to my Father, who sent a little fox who only just reached adulthood to the Third Combat Zone.” Xie Qiang propped up her cheek, looking out the hovering car’s front window and muttering, “And intentionally hung an assassin’s corpse at the restaurant entrance just to scare his favorite daughter.”
Cang Jiu was somewhat surprised by her reaction.
The Princess, upon learning the truth, didn’t seem to feel disappointment or anger, as if the person being harmed wasn’t her.
Was her psychological state strong enough, or… was she deliberately hiding her sadness?
Regardless of which it was, Cang Jiu felt very satisfied.
As a qualified ruler, one had to either be psychologically strong enough or keep their emotions hidden. Or perhaps her soft and sweet exterior was enough to mislead everyone, making them let down their guard—thinking they had her under control when they had actually already been placed on her dinner plate, to be toyed with at will.
Weren’t Sen Ji and Hong Que toyed with like that?
Cang Jiu sat in the driver’s seat and rested his head on Xie Qiang’s lap, saying with sated satisfaction, “Then, Princess, do you want to take revenge on the Emperor?”
Xie Qiang arched an eyebrow, looking down at the youth whose eyes were full of bad intentions. She couldn’t help but pinch his nose.
“Stop trying to push me into a fire pit. Just drive!”
“Alright, Princess~ If you have any needs, feel free to find me~” The youth kissed the base of Xie Qiang’s palm. Before Xie Qiang could turn hostile and pinch his lips, he sat up obediently and started the hovering car.
…
After a simple meal, Xie Qiang took Cang Jiu into the exhibition hall.
Inside the hall were holographic starry sky experiences, as well as art exhibitions concerning combat between Zerg and Sentinels. There were even various abstract paintings concerning the Zerg. Xie Qiang toured with a curious mindset for a while until someone walked up to her and asked in a low voice, “Is this the Princess?”
Xie Qiang raised her hat, revealing those glacier-blue feline eyes. She sized up the other person’s attire—it was a gallery staff member.
“Something the matter?”
“The head of the Sand Wolf family would like to meet with the Princess privately. I wonder if the Princess is available?”
Xie Qiang’s lips curved upward. “Of course. However, I’m bringing my Sentinel with me.”
She took the silver-haired youth’s arm, her smile perfectly arrogant. “He has separation anxiety. If he’s away from me for too long, he’ll go crazy and bite people.”
Cang Jiu tilted his head, his cheek pressing against the top of her head. A look of addicted reliance appeared on his beautiful and exquisite face. “Princess, I told you—you should put a muzzle on me when you go out.”
“…” Xie Qiang’s smile almost didn’t hold. While pinching the youth’s lower back, she said to the staff member, “Go ahead and notify the Sand Wolf family head.”
The staff member pressed the mic on his ear and then said respectfully, “Then, Princess, this way please.”
