Chapter 110: Won’t You Hold Me If You’re On The Phone?
Wen Ling was annoyed. He knocked twice on the door and immediately pushed it open. For a moment, four eyes met.
Cheng Ge was relieving himself, and the sound playing was the background music from a short video on his phone.
Cheng Ge hurriedly pulled up his pants, his tone sounding as if he had been violated. “Whoa, Xiao Wen, you’re way too ‘fierce’!”
Wen Ling blinked.
“Why do you have an expression like you’re catching a cheater, Comrade Xiao Wen?” Cheng Ge washed his hands, dried them, and pushed Wen Ling toward the door.
Wen Ling felt a bit embarrassed by the remark. “You stay in the bathroom so long every night. I have to wait for you for a long time. And I thought I heard you talking to someone just now.”
“Does it wake you up when I get up?”
“I can feel it when you’re gone.”
“I see,” the two of them lay back in the covers, and Cheng Ge hugged Wen Ling again. “Lately, I’ve been accidentally drinking too much water before bed. I lose track of time when I start scrolling through videos. I won’t scroll next time.”
Wen Ling nodded. “Or you could just scroll for a tiny bit.”
Cheng Ge let out a low laugh as he held Wen Ling. “Alright.”
However, after that night, Cheng Ge almost never went to the bathroom during the night again. The two of them returned to their previous state of sleeping until dawn.
Back to the presentāit seemed many people called Wen Ling “fierce.” Wen Ling didn’t know exactly how he was “fierce.”
The “bold and scandalous” words Wen Ling would blurt out from time to time flashed through Cheng Geās mind. He smiled and replied, “It’s fine, it’s fine. Lei-zi was just talking nonsense.”
“Oh.” If Cheng Ge said it, he believed it.
“Then, do you like me like this?” Wen Ling leaned closer and asked.
“I do. I like you no matter how you are.” Having expressed it so many times, Cheng Ge wasn’t as shy as he used to be.
“Ew~ ‘I like you no matter how you are’~ Cheng-ge, you’re so mushy.” A nearby teammate chimed in, likely already drunk.
Cheng Ge hadn’t specifically told them about his relationship with Wen Ling, but they didn’t hide their hand-holding or cheek-pressing either. Those who needed to know already knew.
Although Cheng Ge was friendly to everyone, he had a sense of boundaries and distance in his actions. When he wasn’t expressing any emotion, he looked fierce, so normally people didn’t dare tease him. They only dared to do so when they were drunk.
“Ooh~” The atmosphere was good, and since everyone was mostly drunk, they started cheering: “So sweet, Cheng-ge!”
In truth, Cheng Ge was quite thin-skinned; he could only say those kinds of words in front of the “little lecher.”
Being mocked made him feel awkward, and he wished he could sink into the floor, but he had to pretend not to care on his face. He didn’t explain, simply laughing along with everyone.
Wen Ling was different. He didn’t know how to be shy; the emotion of embarrassment had only appeared a few times before Cheng Ge. As everyone cheered, he acted as if it had nothing to do with him, staring straight at Cheng Ge.
When Cheng Geās ears turned red, he would squeeze them. After squeezing, heād want to bite them, but of course, Wen Ling still had a sense of propriety in public. Today, he only squeezed.
Since it was just a squeeze, Cheng Ge didn’t dodge.
An aloof, cool boy in public, yet his ears turned red so easily, and he even let his “wife” squeeze them. It looked a bit like he was being well-behaved. The contrast was so great that everyone started cheering again.
“What’s with the ‘henpecked’ vibe from Cheng-ge?” The tone was thick with teasing.
Cheng Ge truly couldn’t take it anymore, so he made a “hush” gesture to everyone. “Give me some face, give me some face.”
Drunk or not, everyone still had a bit of propriety. They laughed and cheered once more before stopping the teasing.
“What is ‘henpecked’?” Wen Ling asked Cheng Ge in a tiny voice. If he spoke too loudly, everyone would watch Cheng Ge and laugh again.
These people actually used such literary terms when they were drunk.
“I don’t know,” Cheng Ge took the hand Wen Ling was using to squeeze his ear and held it in his own. “Go ask your Teacher Jiji.”
“Oh.”
Cheng Ge placed Wen Lingās hand on his lap and squeezed it. “Don’t squeeze my ears the moment you see them turning red. Theyāll only turn redder after you squeeze them. I still care about my reputation, Xiao Wen.”
It was too normal for his ears to turn red in front of Wen Ling, and Wen Ling wouldn’t mock him, so Cheng Ge no longer flared up when Wen Ling noticed it.
But it wasn’t okay for others to see. He felt awkward.
Wen Ling mumbled, “But they’re all looking at you.” He didn’t like it.
Cheng Geās mind whirled. “Do you want to ‘declare your sovereignty’?”
Wen Lingās eyes darted around, looking a bit slow to react. “Yes.”
Cheng Ge thought Wen Ling was truly cute and funny. He placed some food in Wen Lingās bowl. “They all know.”
Wen Ling thought about it and said, “Then I need to emphasize it.”
Cheng Ge smiled but didn’t speak, as if he were afraid the other would forget.
After finishing the meal, the group planned to go to a KTV and play all night.
“Do you want to go?” Cheng Ge saw Wen Ling yawn several times, fearing he was too tired.
Wen Ling shook his head and let out another yawn.
“Alright then. We’ll head straight back to the dorm.”
Cheng Ge explained things to Wang Lei and the others, then led Wen Ling outside to hail a taxi.
Wen Lingās eyelids were drooping slightly, his long eyelashes fluttering. He was just a step away from “nodding off like a fisherman.”
“You’re sleepy this early today?” Cheng Ge reached out, wanting to scratch Wen Lingās chin, but to his surprise, Wen Ling furrowed his brows and dodged.
Cheng Geās hand froze. He looked at Wen Ling. Wen Ling met Cheng Geās gaze and then proactively rested his chin on Cheng Geās hand, nuzzling it obediently.
Cheng Ge found Wen Lingās initial reaction a bit strange. He assumed he had just startled him by reaching out suddenly and didn’t think much of it.
It was late autumn, and the night air was very chilly. Cheng Ge habitually rubbed Wen Lingās hand, fearing he would be cold.
After a while, Wen Ling suddenly flung Cheng Geās hand away. He furrowed his brows and stared at the floor, making no other movement.
“Uncomfortable?” Cheng Ge felt Wen Ling was acting too strangely right now. First he dodged his hand, and then he flung it away. “Or am I holding too tight?”
Wen Ling didn’t look at him. He lowered his head slightly and shook it. He seemed to be in a low mood, and even a bit… aloof?
Cheng Ge wanted to ask what was wrong, but his phone suddenly rang. It was the taxi driver. Cheng Ge answered the call, tilting his head to speak while keeping his eyes on Wen Ling.
“Mm, okay.” Cheng Ge hung up the phone. Suddenly, Wen Lingās hand rested on his, gripping it quite tightly.
“Why won’t you hold me anymore?”
“Won’t you hold me just because you’re on the phone? There are so many people here.”
Wen Ling muttered his complaints, looking quite aggrieved.
Cheng Ge took Wen Lingās hand back and looked at him with amusement. “What game are you playing?”
In response, Wen Ling glared at him, his voice carrying a bit of anger: “Cheng Ge, don’t think about changing the subject.”
It didn’t look like he was playing a game, nor did it look like he was faking.
Cheng Ge looked Wen Ling up and down, inside and out. He asked tentatively, “You wouldn’t happen to be drunk, would you?”
“I am not drunk.” Wen Lingās eyes were fixed on Cheng Ge. They were still quite clear, and his voice wasn’t slurred. He really didn’t look drunk.
Just as Cheng Ge was feeling puzzled, Wen Ling flung his hand away again. He said nothing and simply looked at the floor.
Fine. He really was drunk.
After a while, Wen Lingās hand started tapping against the back of Cheng Geās hand. He looked like he wanted to hold it but was hesitating.
Cheng Ge didn’t know what a drunk Wen Ling was really like, so he just watched his movements without interrupting.
When the car arrived, he scooped the person into the vehicle without a word.
Once in the car, Wen Ling kept trying to push Cheng Ge away, widening the distance between them. Seeing that his expression was pained, Cheng Ge didn’t force a hug.
Wen Ling stayed in his corner for several minutes before suddenly looking at Cheng Ge. He looked for a long time, as if trying to distinguish and think. His eyes weren’t as clear as usual.
After thinking to himself, Wen Ling slowly moved his body toward Cheng Ge. He touched Cheng Geās hair and leaned in to sniff his face before finally leaning on his shoulder to sleep.
Heād wake up halfway and push the other away again, but after pushing, heād definitely crawl back. This happened several times, and Cheng Ge recorded it all.
Back at the dorm, the moment Wen Ling touched the sofa, his eyelids closed as if he were in a deep sleep.
Cheng Ge got a basin of hot water from the bathroom, wiped Wen Lingās face and body clean, and helped him change into pajamas. He then placed him on the bed and covered him with the blanket before taking his own clothes into the bathroom.
